Have taken 100mg (half a small dose) for the very first time this morning. 3 hours in and i feel like i've just had a coffee (i rarely drink caffeine) and have felt like i've just had a coffee for the last 2 hours. No drop off. So far.
Have a heavy work day about to start (12pm UK time). Will let you know this evening how it goes..

Holyeeeeeeee Sheeeeeet. I was really sceptical but barring some crazy crash yet to come (i'm still definitely feeling the effects 15 hours later.. and my pupils seem to have dilated out into my ears in the last hour!) this has been an eye opening experience.
So eye opening that i'm slightly concerned i might like it a bit much. I've never done any drugs beyond Cialis for all night threesome sessions... so i am almost certainly pretty lightweight when it comes to dosing and feeling effects of nootropics.
It's 12.20 am and i have been wired all day, but in a good way. I was doubtful about the claims of calm wakefulness. I didn't see that being possible, but i have to say it describes the effect i'm feeling perfectly. No jitters, no anxiety, nothing. Just that feeling i described earlier of a post coffee buzz (but without any peakiness or adrenalised type feelings), that has lasted 15 hours and counting... crazy.
I've smashed work and tasks today, loads of important projects that i've managed to make significant progress on, including a few where i had been a bit stuck on due to struggling to break through a block and had basically parked while i worked on easier fixes..
At a guess i have got at least 50% more done than a usual busy day. Just never got distracted once from the important stuff.
I am amazed at todays experience, i can't imagine taking more in a dose, in fact i may try halving the dose again and comparing the effects. I don't plan on making it a regular thing, more something i will use at most a few times a week if and when i'm particularly busy..
I'm intrigued to see the effect it might have on my sporting performances, and also my gaming abilities while on it..
The only concern i have (besides the possibility of long term effects that it's impossible to know of despite (limited) research so far being positive) are along the lines of addiction/reliance. I may have just had a great first experience with no side effects at all so far, but if they continue to be like this then the sheer improvement in productivity, let alone the clarity of thought and other positives without any clear downside would be hard to forgo whenever i feel i need to perform. Will definitely have to monitor this.
I'll let you know if there's any more worth reporting on my first experience. Going to sleep shortly. Body feels ready for it, my mind doesn't.. weird.
Ps - i bought 10 200mg Modalert tabs for £10.50 roughly $15. I get the impression that is filthy cheap. I was expecting fakes. These are clearly not..

I've been taking Modalert for months now, and it works great for me. I guess some people may not be receptive to it. Now with all this talk of armodafinil I'm going to try that. Looks like I can get 300 tabs for less than $300. I still have 2 1/2 months worth of Modalert so I'll use them up first, before I place that order.
If you have a primary physician like mine, where you just tell him what you want and he writes you the prescription provided it's not pain killers, you can go to the Nuvigil site and print a coupon for your first month free to try it out.

I wonder if it's not effective on certain people.
I don't have ADD but I am pretty distractable. I've tried Aderall and Concerta but really didn't feel any difference at all. I specifically tried it before going in to the office to see if I could beast my boring work for that day, but my boring work was still just as boring and I had more interest in reading things online that are actually interesting. Just like always.
Does Modafinil allow you guys to focus on boring stuff that you really aren't into, like your jobs?

Well given the half life of Modafinil i should be totally purged of it now, and i have had no side effects whatsoever from the first try. If, and its a big IF that experience is duplicated forever after then i'm going to surprise myself and say it's a winner. I would definitely make it a more regular thing in future when required..
As for if it helps you focus on boring stuff..? I suspect it will be different for everyone but yeah i found it did. I seemed to just want to get shit done, including some dull and difficult work projects i had to do.. and was able to stick at it (something i often don't when there's either a more interesting job to be done or whatever else i'd rather be doing). That said i didn't get the impression you'd be able to change you entire mindset on it; like plow through work you otherwise wouldn't really see the point in doing (like a dull job without prospects of direct performance related progress such as bonus or promotion). I'd say i see it more for helping you tackle hard stuff that you know needs to be done but you're trying to avoid, and/or things that require a long period of motivation and concentration to complete.
But hey, i only tried it once. What do i know!

Sourcecode, interesting info. I didn't feel I got much out of modafinil. I also tried noopept and it also didn't really do much for me. I ordered some aniracetam, will see how it goes. Do you supplement with choline as well, or just straight ani?

Dosages for ani I have seen are from 1g - 2g/day. I think you have to play with it. Start low. I'm going to try 1g.

Has anyone tried taking it with grapefruit juice (freshly squeezed NOT from the box) for absorptive purposes?

My understanding is that grapefruit juice disrupts the absorption of chemicals in the digestive tract, hence its not recommended to drink grapefruit juice when taking meds.

Well, here we go.
Down the hatch five minutes ago. I swear I already feel like I'm searching for the next thing to do, but I'm prepared to accept that's a placebo effect at this moment in time. I will check back in this evening, assuming I don't drop dead.
