Race is not a waste of time if you take the time to dispel the underlying motives. You can't just tell a man that he is wrong, you have to show him his error and teach him to fix it. If it is not possible, then by his ignorance he does harm only to himself. If you take offense, you do harm to yourself. Instead of berating people for lack of understanding and subsequent fear of others that are different, encourage them to see differences as something that can bring people together. The only thing that bothers me is when some guy like Don Lemon, who appears to be a douchebag but is at least articulate, comes out and makes some cultural criticisms, rather than deny them or make any kind of reasonable attempt to show why what he's saying is bunk, you not only rely on ad hominem, but specifically call him out for acting white.

That's a great way to completely short-circuit any possibility of reasonable discussion about cultural conflicts.

btw in terms of behavior that can cause friction (eg saggy pants), no I am absolutely not going to trust Don Lemon to correctly describe either the clothes, behavior, or the consequences.
