Mark Minter is getting married?

Either Minter is poor, and has nothing to lose in a marriage, but then why did Kate go for him in the first place?

If Minter is rich, then he is just turning into a soft old man. Eventually, we all get soft. It's one of the worst parts of getting old.

Marriage questions aside, I wrote about how a woman's sexual experience means nothing, so Kate could very well be an ideal girlfriend. But getting married, with all of the legal questions it entails, is just retarded.

Maybe Minster figures he's gonna die in 20 years so he thinks, "Fuck it, might as well get one more woman for 5-10 more years for one last hurrah."

He could easily go to a different country with far more favorable family laws and probably marry a woman without children. When you introduce a child the dynamic is different. The child is#1 and his is probably #3. I think her red-pillness is just saying what he wants to hear. She will change her tune once married.

From reading plenty of comments on CH and especially Rationalmale I believe Minter's got two kids from his former marriage and is rather well off financially.
Also Kate seems to be from a pretty rich family.

So I don't think money or kids are an issue here. Also from her gravatar pic, if that's her, she looks pretty decent. EDIT: Hmm, seems she took it down. Oh well, someone roam Minter's friendlist on facebook, she'll be on there [Image: tongue.gif]

To be honest this doesn't surprise me at all. When Mark was at his peak frequency and intensity commenting you could see her melt for him in the comments. Since he's using his real name and has a link to his facebook page on every post he makes, it's only a small step.

This is going to be a good case study. Let's hope they keep us updated (or not if everything goes ok).

Ok...I'm going to pull out the claws.

I've seen photos of her before because she used to have them linked to her profile on Rollo's blog and to me the woman isn't hideous but that's about the nicest thing I can say. At least she isn't fat. Supposedly she's a single mother, but I guess that matters less as you advance in years. Most late middle-aged American men certainly do worse but at the same time, feeling lucky about marrying a not-fugly single mother whose neurosis has drawn her into the heartiste/rollo/roosh world of relationship dynamics, is like getting jacked that you hit a single cherry on the nickle slot machine.

Normally two people coming together is a cause for celebration and we congratulate the couple while privately hoping for the best against the odds. I can't feel those sentiments given this context - an oscillating man waving a farcical anti-marriage banner and his shrill insistence on the deleterious effect of having a woman in your life. Suddenly a woman appears in his life, hardly a temptress, and he reflexively puts a fucking ring on it. This is after everything we all know about women and the common misery and drudgery of marriage. This is after everything he knows- that women can and will divorce you on a whim. I don't even think it's been a year since Mark Minter 'entered' this part of the web guns-a-blazin'. Well that fire went out quick!

I understand the desire for companionship, and maybe these things are more important as you get older. But please remind me: what are the benefits of a 58 year old guy going to the courthouse and getting married instead of committing to a serious long term and loving relationship? Did something about the inherent risks of marriage change? Did something about women change? Why put yourself in this situation?

Assuming this isn't a joke, I hope they're happy and that they can grow something fruitful out of this jaded and poisoned corner of the internet. Maybe this woman isn't like that.

But given the circumstances, I can't consider his perspective on relationship advice except out of suspicion or personal caution. To me he's an example of who I don't want to be now and especially when I get to 58.

Mark did not have the courage of his convictions. Or is this action supposed to be courageous? Why does the imprimatur of the state have to stamp their relationship? Live like you're married. Act like you're married. But don't put the noose of the state around your neck. What for? Surely not for love. I would not call Kate hot, but she is attractive. She is also a single mom. Not really a problem, unless you marry. Then her child is your problem, but it's not your child. And he has other kids? It's the manosphere brady bunch!

Mark appeared to be proud that he got a 34 year old given that he's 58. I don't recall him writing anything about travelling, seeing the world, and meeting women from other countries. Maybe he did. It's his life, and he can do whatever he wants, but this shit is weak sauce. It demonstrates that merely because you can write emotionally charged prose that guys get a hard on for, it doesn't mean that you can actually live your life that way. Maybe this is a huge troll, who knows.

If he's got coin, it's a good deal for her. Odds are he'll die long before she does and she'll get the estate. Or if they divorce she'll make bank. All upside for her.

It's almost always a good deal for her. If they're married, there is no way under any state's estate laws that she can be denied a portion of his estate if his family challenges his will (if there is one).

But, she stood up for him!

The wayfarer,
Perceiving the pathway to truth,
Was struck with astonishment.
It was thickly grown with weeds.
“Ha,” he said,
“I see that none has passed here
In a long time.”
Later he saw that each weed
Was a singular knife.
“Well,” he mumbled at last,
“Doubtless there are other roads.”

It's certainly strange news given the venom he's been spitting in his anti-marriage rants. It would seem a bit hypocritical to say the least.

However, I can't pass judgment. He's 58 years old and world-weary. He looks at the world with different eyes than most of us here. He has a better idea than any of us what he wants for the rest of his life.

If he thinks that marrying this 34 year old woman and being a father figure to her kid is the right move, so be it, I wish him well. I don't think I'd make the same choice, but then again I haven't walked a mile in Mark Minter's shoes, much less 58 years worth of miles.

Dude's 58 years old. Who wants to be living the life of a bachelor when you're 70?

He's been through this before, he knows the score. The odds for marriage suck in the West today. But maybe the odds are worth it from him at this point, with this woman.

Sure some of what he said about marriage, in particular his categorical denunciation of the institution, turns out to have been bluster. Or maybe he changed his mind. Good luck to him.

Yeah - I have a rule in life. Which is to never give anyone any advice.

As somebody once said - 'the best thing to do with good advice is pass it on'.

So - I will never judge the actions of another man. Just a little sad to lose one of the best writers around. A bit like hearing a favourite band has split up.

OK, so the fact that he has kids changes my view, unless he wants to sire more offspring.

But as others have pointed out, dude is pushing 60. I'm pretty sure our views on things aren't going to be the same as they are now when we are pushing 60 and facing our own mortality.

Honestly, as entertaining and insightful as I found many of his comments, I have always thought this way about Mr. Mark Minter. Much respect to the guy, but he and I appear to have vastly different experience, different values, and interact with the world in very different ways.

I have two different approaches to taking advice that I try to follow (but sometimes fail... everyone follows bad advice sometimes):

The first approach is to listen to the advice with absolutely no intention of following it, and instead reverse-engineer the useful knowledge from everything you've heard. Asking a web forum "what car should I buy?" is a good example.

The second approach is for pedagogical advice from a master or other highly credible source, and is meant for improving skills. With this approach, you temporarily suspend your ego and prejudices completely and follow the advice without question (except as necessary to understand). The key here is that you are going to learn from the experience and in order to have the experience at all you must open yourself to it. A good example would be reading BANG and doing your first approaches precisely by the book to see what happens.

Neither approach involves accepting dogma permanently without question.

Mark has to do what's best for his life, so he gets no judgement from me on that front, but based on his writing, I took him to be the last man in America who would get married. It's like me falling in love with Lindy West.

Like most on the Internet, he was a paper alpha.

Like I've said time and again, men who get divorce raped were white knights in a previous life. Once a white night, always a white knight. A 58 year old leopard does not lost its spots.

Minter wrote well because he wrote out of bitterness and anger. His writing did not reflect deeply held philosophical beliefs. He wrote to process his anger.

Just as there aren't many atheists in fox holes, there aren't many MGTOW when hot snatch is in their face.

Who is that morbidly obese radio host that so many guys look up to? The fat fuck can't control his eating and has been married 4 times. Yet guys look up to him because he TALKS a good game.

Best of luck to Minter. Since he is a beta male to his core, the cycle of his previous relationship will repeat itself. But maybe he'll have a nice, if short, run.
