Moving to Miami

Brandon E,

Congrats on the move to Miami.

When you get a chance, can you write about ski resort game, based on your experience in Aspen? The legendary MiXX has a thread started on Whistler and other ski areas, and gaming women there, in this Travel forum.

Chaz, thanks man, and yeah I can do a write up from my expience in a couple of ski towns a little later. I wrote a up a thread on aspen as well in the forum. That kinda breaks down some ideas of gaming in Aspen itself.

I went to the beach for my first time today, there was A LOT of tallent. I stopped and played a game of soccer with some Cuban kids who didn't speak much english. Out here it's hard to tell if I should try speaking Spanish with people or English at first. Some people I see definitely look like they are from Latin America but when I'm walking by they speak perfect English. I was walking by the beach and thinking about lighting up a joint when I caught the smell of ganja in the air. I look over and saw some Cuban kids and decided it was probably them blazin. I walked over to them and asked if it was okay to light up a J on the beach and they had no clue what I was talking about. It didn't seem like any of them new much english and told me I had to learn Spanish if I live in Miami (Which I do, but they should learn English if they are living in the US!) I've been learning a lot of Spanish lately as my last two roomates were from Argentina and El Salvador and my new roomate is from Argentina. I still mess up a lot and speak Portuguese a lot of times when I'm trying to speak spanish since I'm not very good at forming sentences in Spanish yet. Speaking Spanish seems like a huge plus out here. It's almost like being in a foreign country. One big difference though I would have to say between the Latinas in South America and the Latinas here, is a lot more Latinas here are ghetto and seem pretty skanky. Not to say there aren't a ton of gorgeous, respectable looking women as well.

Welcome to Miami - drop me a PM, and we'll go hang out, and if you like latinas, then I'll take you to 'em for sure - especially the ghetto booty latinas that love white boys.

Thanks Mixx, sent you a PM. Looking foward to meeting up.

A side note, all my cable is in Spanish. It appears since everyone in my building but me are first language spanish speakers, the landlord decided not to purchase the english speaking channels, but we have all the Spanish language channels. Cool if I ever want to watch a SA soccer game, shitty when I want to watch Bordwalk Empire or Eastbound and Down. Good thing I don't watch much TV and when I do I usually watch it after its aired on the internet.

Brandon,

"Still trying to figure out if Vegas or Miami has better girls. So far from what I've seen I'd have to say Vegas is better as far as looks go, but I haven't even gone to any clubs or anything like that out here."

It is not even "Miami Season" yet. Wait till wintertime to draw any conclusions.

Tip for you: Play up your "Las Vegas" roots in Miami Beach. I suspect you will get some mileage out of that one.

For sure. I always have to throw the Vegas card out there. Everyone thinks it's insane to be from Vegas. They say, "People actually live in Las Vegas?" haha. And that's what I'm hearing, the season is just starting out here.

Another thing I've noticed about Miami is there are a ton of gorgeous black women. I've never had a full on black woman, only mixed. In Vegas, I feel like you don't see too many attractive black women. I think my next goal is gonna be to score a black girl, which I think is going to be pretty hard. It doesn't seem like they are much into skronny white boys like myself.

brandon, what was the average price for a decent 1bed room apt in a none shady part of town or neighborhood?

Average price I would say is around 7-900, but you just have to find a good deal. I'm paying $560 and I live in a nice neighborhood, right across from a private Jewish school. My house is pretty small, maybe 8-900 sq ft. My room pretty much only fits my bad and then maybe a two foot area around two sides of it. But it does the trick, and it connects to the living room which is actually pretty spacious and my roomate never goes in there unless he is grabbing food from our refrigerator (yeah, in the living room since there is no room for it in the kitchen). Plus I have everything I need, full kitchen, washer dryer. I'm 2 blocks from the beach and 10 from South Beach, but that walk is kicking my ass when I'm doing it 2 times a day, not to mention I was running 3 miles a day up until today because I'm too beat. Cost of living is cheap though. You can find great deals all over on food. You can easily get away with spending $10 a day on food, but from what people have told me, drinks are real expensive in some places, like $15 a shot expensive. But then again there are other spots that are normal price, just depends where you wanna go.

Oh, and that above estimate on rent is for South Beach only. There are plenty of spots that are much cheaper. If you have a car you might wanna look into moving somewhere else in town. I would have if I had a car, and probably will after my 4 months at my current spot is up and I have a car. From what I read, average rent in Miami is around $500 for a room. You might want to look into getting a roomate, because it's going to be much more expensive to get just a 1 bedroom I think than say to find a 3 bedroom with an open room. I got pretty lucky with my roomate, he's a cool dude from Argentina. I just found him on Craiglist. I don't know what it is, but for some reason I always end up living with people from Argentina.

i have a car, so i would be fine with being 20-30 minutes away from south beach ect. oh and im sure there is plenty of places to go drink with normal prices geared towards latinos outside of sobe.

im about to compile an extensive data sheet on all of miami's job/career options. i was looking at FIU's grad school and it appears to be one of the hardest if not the hardest school to get into in fla. not good lol maybe FAU will be a better bet.

Yeah, there are plenty of affordable spots to drink and meet girls. I went to a spot that had $10 cups of some type of drink that gets you drunk, and it probably had at least 24 ozs of drink in it, if not more. That's cheaper than almost anything you can get where I just came from. Not sure about grad. schools, but I'm pretty sure that UM is the hardest college to get into, as it's private. If not the hardest, then the most expensive. I'm looking to go to FIU next year.

yea didnt really look into UM because its private and would cost a fortune. But FIU has over took FSU and UF as most sought after public University for graduating seniors. This in turn has made them very selective with admissions. What are you looking to study? Undergrad or graduate studies? Also you will need to become a resident to not incur ridiculous out of state prices. From looking online you can obtain residency in 1 yr.

Yeah, plan on starting undergrad in business maybe and moving onto international business in grad. school. I'll probably enroll in Miami Dade community for the fall semester next year, which shouldn't be too bad. I already have a little schooling done. I'll get my Associates and try and transfer to FIU. By then I will be a resident. Miami's a cool place man. I still haven't gotten out enough to say exactly how much I like it, but I like what I've seen. I love the beach atmosphere period though. But it really is like living in a different country, as Lavinci said before. Could be a huge culture shock, but if you are used to SA and love Latin Culture, I think you will feel someone comfortable here. 60% of people that live here were born out of the country and something like only 25% of people speak English as a first language, kinda crazy. It's been hard since I've gotten down here though, just because of personal reasons. I've been doing a lot of one step fowards and 2 steps back. For instance, I wanted to get my hair cut, get resumes made, and look for a job in the same day. Well that process has taken me 2 days so far and I haven't gotten my haircut or looked for jobs, plus unemployment sent me a letter in the mail saying I need to call them, which is half a day almost right there. Basically I just haven't had the money and waiting for money to come through, but the people I've been relying on have been super flakey.

Brandon have you thought about joining the Coast Guard unit in miami? Im giving this some consideration. I have a degree so id start out with a higher pay and id have a goal of getting into OCS to become an officer. Im not sure how doable and easy all this is but it is a decent option. Plus you will have a GI bill to pay for school after ur term is up.

Nah man, I refuse to do anything military related, including the coast guard. I'm pretty sure I would get put at the bottom of the barrell as well with my criminal record.

Brandon E,

Whats the surfing situation like out there? When does it come up?

Have you thought about getting into SUPping? I like it. It wears you out if you go at it hard, plus you can chill on the shore afterwords and burn. Even if waves are blown, you're still sitting there with a board, which attracts girls. Try that out.

Aloha!

I think they are just fine. I just came from pretty much the worst place ever to meet girls too though. But I grew up in Vegas and spent a good amount of time in Brazil. I would go as far to say that the girls are almost the same quality as Rio, but not quite that of Vegas. At least once a day I see a girl and litterally say to myself "Holy shit!" I see more good looking girls out here on a good day than I would probably see in 3 or 4 months where I just moved from, not even exagerating.

Kona, the surf is pretty shitty out here. From what I hear, the only time we really get waves is when storms come in. But I may have to invest in a board reguardless. I hear there are some spots up north a little.

miami has the highest per capita of models as anywhere in the US. and miami beach really isnt very big, and thats where they all live/work. if you spend 30 minutes on Lincoln Road mall you will see more literal 10's then you will see in 6 months in most cities. they may or may not be attainable, but having spent some time in Miami Beach when you are face to face w/a girl like that its a completely different feeling

Regarding girls and surf:

Like Brian said, Miami Beach has mad models.

The issue with right now is it is not "Miami Season".

Most people in there right mind do not go to Miami in Sept/Oct.

Jan/Feb there is like 1500 models in town.

Surfing? Forget it.

Better off going to the Wessyde.

I don't know about that. I was walking on the coast today and there were definitely surfable waves. It wasn't the best surf by any means, but you have have been able to get up and ride for a minute.

And again you guys keep making Miami to be the ultimate pussyland. You're spot on with Lincoln Road mall, but again, you're talking about US standards. Even though Miami Beach has gorgeous girls, the vibe still fades with your average Eastern European of South American city. Even the most sexiest US city fades with your average EE or SA cities. It's the American lifestyle that changes the women. Driving cars instead of walking, different food, and most of all the smaller competitiveness and lack of desire to look even more pretty, such as is a total different case in the aforementioned cultures.

When I go to any mall in South America or Eastern Europe I see more model looking girls than even in the model-infested Miami Beach. I don't know, that's just me, but Miami Beach is no wonderland for me. There are too many medium, and ugly looking, and bad looking black women here to say that this place is so exceptionally sexy. Yeah the 10's models are nice, but I rather live in a place with much more 7,8,9 than just occasional 10's and multitudes of 6's and 5's. That's how I see it. Miami is definitely no Colombia in that matter.

Yeah, I'm gonna agree, Miami has mad fatties and butterfaces, but at the same time, it has mad fly women. The only place I've been that beats it so far in the US is Vegas and possibly Cali, but like we've gone over a million times, Cali sucks because the bars close at 2. I also want to throw out there, the clubs in Miami don't compare to the clubs in Vegas from what I've seen. I went to Mansion last night, which is supposedly the best in Miami, it's about 1/3 the size of Tao in Las Vegas. I'm definitely going to have to say that I see a lot more attractive girls in Miami than I saw in Florianopolis, Sao Paulo, and possibly even Rio. But I guess between Rio and Miami beach, I would say it just depends on the day you go. Yesterday I hooked up with an un americanized Brazilian girl. Reminded me a lot of the girl I dated in Brazil. Very feminine and warm. I think I wrote up something on the German chick that was coming to Miami to visit me. Well, she came out yesterday, and she done fucked up by bringing a hot Brazilian friend. Yeah, the German girl was better looking, but the physique, femininity, and attitude of the Brazilian girl turned me on much more, and I knew the German girl was gonna probably play cock tease. As soon as I met her Brazilian friend, I knew immediately that I was giving up on the German and going for the Brazilian. So far, Miami seems like the perfect place for me as far as US cities go. Yeah, maybe you find more quality girls in places like Medellin or Vitoria, but good luck making a living down there. Once I get my degree in international business and get in with some good companies, then I can plan on starting a life in a more desireable place, but until then, I'm here in Miami, and I see that being my best option at the time. The one thing I will say I don't like about Miami are the clubs though. Too many meet heads and it seems like everything is about status, plus shots are $15 at the high end clubs. I feel like I'll do much better day gaming on the beach or going to bars or places where your not gonna spend $150 in a night. But I don't see many places better to game than the beach. A new one I've discovered works well to break the ice, is when tourist girls are taking pictures, make sure you stop and ask them if they would like you to take the picture for them. A couple guys that were hanging out with the German girl and her 3 friends told me that's how they met up with the girls. Good suggestion, and I tried it on the way back home, the girls are never going to say no. Unfortunately I was on the phone with a friend I hadn't talked to in a while, so I didn't do much game running, just kinda wanted to test it out a little bit.
