I'm all for supporting cancer research and patients but I read something about the president of Susan G. Komen cutting herself a six figure check so I stopped donating. Also, why can't men's prostate cancer get any support???

But since this is an NFL thread -- GO BROWNS!!! currently first in the AFC north. Hopefully Hoyer returns because Weeden is definitely not the answer.

Tony Romo did his thing today. He dazzled us with great plays, then made the throat-cutting mistake at the most crucial point in the game...hahaha!

NFL Myth-busting: Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys Are America’s Chokers

http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/con...ers/23434/

Quote:Quote:

Unlike some quarterbacks on the list, Romo has not padded his overall record with game-winning drives when it was just tied. A whopping 18 of his 19 clutch wins (94.7 percent) have included a comeback. That’s the highest rate for anyone on the list with at least five wins. We also know he’s been let down by teammates in several losses.

Let’s not forget Romo’s 100.7 career passer rating in the fourth quarter and overtime (playoffs included) is the highest among all quarterbacks since 2000 (minimum 150 attempts).

We know Romo isn’t a caretaker. He has thrown for 300 yards a total of 40 times and has 48 games with a passer rating over 100.0 (minimum 15 attempts). His 7.94 yards per attempt is the seventh highest in NFL history.

Romo has seven straight seasons with a passer rating of at least 90.0 (minimum 200 attempts). Only Steve Young (1991-98) and Peyton Manning (2003-10) have ever done that. Romo’s 95.6 passer rating is fifth all time.

In the one season Romo had a top 10 defense (2009), he won a playoff game. That’s probably not a coincidence.

He’s historically productive, efficient, wins more than he loses and he has rare skills to buy time in the pocket and make big plays.

The fact that Brooks acknowledged Romo’s 19 game-winning drives, but still put Rivers ahead of him for “outstanding performance in the clutch” just shows the anti-Romo bias many either willingly hold or have embedded into their brain.

I don't really care for football but I refuse to let anyone shit on my hometown team. Unfortunately the last couple years they've made it to the post-season and choked first game.

Wow, I just noticed that. What's next pink helmets? Pink pads? pink jock straps? Pink steroids?

I dunno man. Today during one of the games someone dropped their pink towel and the people on TV thought it was a flag on the play. How much of the $$$ the NFL racks up every year go towards research?

When will Dallas fan realize they will never win anything of significance with Romo?

Well...it took Peyton a good 9 seasons to win his first SB ring? Before that, he was a damn elite talent who was criticized for not being able to win the "big game."

Romo is in the middle of his 7th full season overall so we'll see how it goes.

It isn't JUST about winning the ring. Peyton was getting his team to conference title games, but couldn't get by the Patriots. Romo doesn't have any deep playoff runs. And in key games late in the season, again, he makes crucial mistakes. The criticism of Romo isn't about him lacking stats and physical tools. It's purely about that big mistake he always seems to make. I think the only reason why the attacks in the media aren't worse is because he's a likeable guy.

This year they at least partnered with the American Cancer Society - so hopefully any increase in donations will get spread around to other cancer research.

Damn! My team the Bears have lost 2 straight! I'm getting a little worried. They got beat by Drew Brees, Jimmy Graham and company.

Don't sleep on the Saints. Everybody is talking about Seattle but the Saints are no joke. They are 5-0 and are clear contenders in the NFC. As for Chicago, well the good thing they have the Giants and Redskins coming up. Hope the Bears don't choke against the Giants.

Watched the Giants vs. Carolina a couple weeks ago and, while Carolina's in bad shape themselves right now, the Giants offensive line was terrible. You just can't expect to win when you've got the opposing defense in your backfield. Panthers have a strong front 7, but still...

I spend a lot of time in the midwest and Bears fans want to believe. Great fans, love their team, etc., but there's always been something off about Cutler. It's been so long since they've had a good qb so the whole town pins their hopes on #6. Guy looks like, walks like, and throws like a quarterback, but zero consistency. Moreso than the Saints loss, that game against the Lions makes me think that the Bears are on a 9-7 roller coaster this year.

I think it's a case of getting old fast. They just don't have the talent they used to, especially on the offensive line. As for the Seattle/New Orleans debate, it comes down to who is at home. You don't go into Seattle and win. They truly have the greatest home field advantage in the sport.

I hate to say this, but the NFL sucks for 'white knighting' on the breast cancer awareness. They should be supporting prostate cancer victims first, especially given it's one of the biggest forms of cancer for men. Better yet, they should first and foremost show us all how concerned they are about player safety. How about "Player Safety Awareness Week?" Instead we find out that they were (supposedly) trying to ignore research about players brain injuries/concussions (link here: http://bigstory.ap.org/article/mega-laws...ry-links-0) and woke up to the issue quite late in the game. And now they push Thursday night games, a potential 18-game schedule, etc. all of which the players are completely against and make injuiries much more likely and reduce healing time, just to increase the money they make. Wonderful.

And IMO the whole breast cancer thing has to be as much nature as nurture, given how obese the average American woman is these days. Ditto for all the medication Big Pharma pushes on them for 'depression' or whatever. Hey, maybe, just maybe the fact that you weigh 300 pounds and eat incredibly unhealthy food, don't exercise, and are medicated 24-7 just MIGHT have something to do with your cancer? Oh wait not that can't be true you're a victim and didn't have one thing to do with it.

The pink penalty flags were confusing as hell too.

So I guess "Homosexual NFL Support Week" is next (to help attract that developing pool of gay NFL fans / players?). Honestly I think that's coming. Seems the NFL is into pandering to ANY group where it thinks it might be able to gain some exta viewers/$$$s. When it should be much more focused on player safety, the concussion issues, helmets, pensions, healthcare after retirement, etc. Instead we get pink flags, wristbands, and a bunch of BS 'feelgood' sentiment about how the NFL helps women and is aware about breast cancer (but apparently less aware of prostate cancer and player safety).

Not saying "Breast Cancer Awareness" isn't a good thing, but given it's overwhelmingly male fan base and player safety issues I think the NFL should have otehr priorities right now. I almost felt like boycotting watching the games this week, but that would be a tough pill to swallow, given how much I love football and the NFL.

Not to mention all the money the NFL and the Breast Cancer Awareness movement is making out of all this.

Everything has been covered in pink over the years that its getting way too pink that even players last week had so much confusion over the pink flags the referees were throwing for penalties. I think they overturned that rule.
