I found this in the comments below the article, it's a long read but very interesting and well thought-out:

Why I never married a Thai

From that article:
Quote:Quote:

I lived in Thailand for over 4 years before I first had sex with a Thai, ...
Hm... why would you listen to his comments at all?

The guy sounds like an arrogant pseudo intellectual tool. He figured out the Thai girl game, and then acts like Western women are so superior...becuase they can still hustle him

"My devotion to my wife is above EVERYTHING else, the kids come second, and then maybe OUR parents, etc. If I can’t have a similar commitment, I want her to at least be willing place me just after the kids. If my wife were Thai, she also better be able to espouse her love to me properly."

He also has a laundry list of justification of why he is intellectually superior to a Thai with a PhD from an elite Western University (and is actually very good in his field). Sounds like a whiny clown IMO.

Yeah, dude sounds like a loser. He said he never slept with many women at all, then he complains he doesn't find any of them acceptable. Sounds like total bullshit to me. I don't trust a man's judgement on women unless he has lots of experience with them.

He also throws in this caveat:

Quote:Quote:

Also remember that Thailand has changed quite a bit since I first arrived, especially the liberalization of attitudes about dating, relationships, and getting to know members of the opposite sex. Today it is MUCH easier to meet and date Thai women, so if today’s attitude about dating were present in the late 70s & early 80s, perhaps I would have married a Thai, on the other hand, even though I would have met many more women or at least gotten to know them better, the issues I discuss below could have easily resulted in the same situation as today.

So he's basing his judgements on a time that doesn't exist anymore?

Plus, it seems to me that he'd be considered more exotic in Thailand back in the 1970's than today.

Well said.

Most stickman submissions are from sex tourists aged 40+ with no game who married farmers. I'd advise anyone here to avoid that site lest you are influenced by their extremely bad advice on almost all topics, just like the ThaiVisa forums.

These guys can be very persuasive to the potential BKK expat on the negative aspects of living out here but I am so glad I ignored almost everything they recommend.

I've come out here with relatively few savings and within 2 months I've slept with twice as many (good) women as my previous 5 years combined, landed a great non-teaching job, had an amazing time in the places they despise and made a few good Thai friends, all while living on a third of what I do at home.

Hold off on the Stickman hate because the guy is a pioneer, when most of us were just kids he was in Thailand banging girls left, right and centre and documenting life here.

He's been writing quality articles on a weekly basis for 12 fucking years about life in Bangkok and Thailand. He paved the way for all the other blogs that have come out over the past few years and it's not all about 40+ sex tourists who married farmers or anything like the misery that is the TV forums.

He's far from negative on everything either, the man loves Bangkok.

And I don't think Stick would have told you any of that wasn't possible. Maybe those miserable fuckers on the TV forum right enough or the guys on Pattaya Addicts etc....those places are filled with miserable sex tourists many who have become jaded with Thailand but are too broke to go home. PA is the worst, mention you had sex with a girl who wasn't a hooker and you get called a liar or told to stop showing off because apparently that isn't possible in Thailand.

P.S.
Homo...what sort of job did you land?

I've met Stickman about 10 years ago and can attest that he is a nice, intelligent, well-balanced and worldly person (Kiwi if my memory serves). We immediatly meshed well and talked - and drank - a lot. He was at this time a good-looking guy, dressed with style, ect, in his early thirties (at least he looked like).

that guy lived an interesting life and the sport lost a great athlete, he was a machine!

One of my friends, Francois Pennachio, winned a kick-boxing fight against Dekkers. What is interesting in this fight was the obvious difference of style of Pennachio, who was world champion of French-boxing/Savate, and of Dekkers. Pennachio was more inventive, more mobile, quicker, ect (lot of moving and lot of linking of kicks are the characteriscs of French Boxing). Dekker did better elsewhere, but in this fight, he was way out of tune.

Dekkers was a great champion. Didn't know that he passed out. RIP Ramon.

You also see the style difference in this video of Farina (another world champion of French Boxing and one of my best friends) vs Steele in a Kick Boxing world championship.

Yes, I've seen him fight in person several times, the last time at the Sportshall Zuid, I believe in Rotterdam or maybe Utrecht.

I've been a competitor in French Boxing (I trained in the same club as Farina, Pennachio, ect, and have made many many pre-fights sparring with them) and had the honor to fight once Ernesto Hoost (he is from what I know the only guy who got four world titles in the four different boxes - French Boxing, Kick Boxing, Full Contact and Muay Thai) during a France/Holland gala.

Yeah he is a Kiwi. Never met him but by all accounts a stand up guy and anyone who's been documenting life in Thailands / Bangkoks underbelly and writing about Thai girls for 12 years deserves some respect.

Dekkers one weakness was his lack of mobility. He could kick, he had good elbows, decent knees but his footwork was the same as a Thai fighters in that he fought flat-footed. He had excellent power though which was the trade-off.

If you fought Hoost you must have been pretty good at some point, unless perhaps you were fighting him at the B-level.

As far as Stickman - his site has some good information on it. I remember when it first came out and I thought, how can this guy write about Thailand with authority when he's only been here for a short time. But to his credit he's turned it into a valuable, informative site. Some of the reader submissions are all over the place but the site is not meant to sugar coat anything.

Dekkers towards the end of his career knocking out Pena with leg kicks.

I googled the picture of the head of state in Thailand and to be honest, she may be 45 but 7/10 definitely would bang.
