Bumping this thread because LA isn't that bad of a city...

Any up-to-date data sheets on LA?

I'm throwing this out there, but is joining an improv group really the best way to meet chicks around here?

Holy shit I haven't seen you post in a minute. And nah most LA info is stale and the my main contact out there is either in dead or in jail now. Your best bet is PMing DVY.

I've been away from the forum for a bit, and could use updated info as well. I have an opportunity that has come my way that would take me to the LA area (Pasadena) for work. LA has never been on my radar before as a place to live (I'm actually more of a Chicago-NY guy). I've been to LA twice before, but only for very short stints...

First time hated it (hung out on the west side toward the beach; beautiful but somewhat plastic imho).

Second time I was in Calabasas for a day (nice but no night life), and then the valley which made me think it could be a place I could learn to like (Sherman Oaks and then stints over the Hills...West or North Hollywood I'm guessing??).

I would be coming from living between Houston and Dallas. I know LA is more expensive, but would be receiving a cost of living adjustment and pay increase.

Any suggestions on where home base should be as far as commute to work and still have a pretty decent bar (not club) nightlife?

Pimped it tonight at The Grove then checked out a few venues in WeHo with my wing. The bars were mostly dead, as to be expected, since it was a Tuesday. The highlight of my night was # closing a hawt Ethiopian babe in Sephora. Likely won't get any day 2 given my experience with women out here but it was a fun interaction. As someone who actually approaches, I can vouch that The Grove is the only dependable spot out here to meet attractive women in the entire LA County. Toca Madera and Santa Monica are also decent but not great.

Anyway, I had another mind blowing interaction...this time with a bouncer outside of Pump that confirmed everything I've experienced and seen firsthand out here in LA. He said he moved out here in the late-90s and was a bouncer at a famous club called Peanuts. He said he regularly got girls in the late-90s/early-2000s and even, on multiple occasions, porked a woman in the hallway of Peanuts (just relaying what he told us). He said, and this is not a joke...that he has only "pulled 1 woman in the last 2 years."

He also said it's gotten so bad out here that he has completely given up approaching women and trying to get laid. This is the 2nd guy I've met in the last month who has said that.

Not hatin', just statin' what a guy who has lived in Los Angeles for 20 years told my friend and me.

By the way, I looked up "Peanuts" because I never heard of it, it purports itself as the "#1 Transgender Club in LA" on its facebook page? Its at 7969 Santa Monica Blvd which has been a lot of different clubs over the year, I remember it as 7969 and I believe it was called "Belly" for a while.

Its Deliliah now, which I hear is a pretty hot spot.

There's always a cool club on Tuesdays, you just have to know where it is and how to get in though, it changes throughout the years.

Interesting.

Must be a different 'Peanuts' but that's pretty funny. The dude said his 'Peanuts' went out of business years ago.

It was in a Jay-Z song.

"Peanuts in LA...bubblin' into Dublin's"

So its probably somewhere else. I thought they were talking how Dublin's on Sunset always had peanuts on the floor

Downtown Pasadena has a pretty good bar scene in general and a college scene. A lot of people go there on weekend nights. If you're working in Pasadena I suggest you live there for logistical reasons.

LA is a bunch of self-contained cities pretty much so choose where you want to game and just live there for logistics. I personally hate LA proper and would never live there but that's just me.

I see a lot of a value socially, logistically, and stress wise in living where you work and gaming there as well. In an area like LA I'd way rather focus on a specific neighborhood or nightlife scene than try to do everything.

Just my 2 cents.

Old Town Pasadena is mainly a lot of Latinos from San Gabriel/East LA and the Valley who go out for a "nice night on the town". Its a little on the ghetto side in many of the spots and many of the guys end up in fights or are the type to. Its decent for hooking up, if you can find a girl without a huge posse with her.

Where in LA county isn't?

Also I am speaking 2nd hand about Pasadena nightlife from several friends as I have never partied there. Both were hip to the game and said it was good though. They were both latino and one was a pretty handsome dude who would have no trouble anywhere.

Pasadena, the city itself is nice if you have a family and are married (translation: Its boring). For a single person, I wouldn't advise living there. Go live in Atwater Village or Los Feliz. Much better and more central to more girls in LA/Hollywood area. Girls will absolutely judge you on where you live in this town. In Pasadena, you'll be stuck with Downtown, Highland Park, East LA, the Valley and other people from Pasadena. No girl from Hollywood or the Westside is going to go out to Pasadena to meet you up, not even halfway. They'll brush you off quickly.

Good points Drazen.

I also second Los Feliz or nearby Silverlake as a home base

Beauty and Essix is beautiful. Avenue meh.

The clubs have gone down hill a lot, but still swoopable but the key is after-hours or someway to steal the girl.

I've been doing a few restaurants around town and doing lifestyle stuff mostly. Have a beautiful main girl atm.

Some spots great for women-
-BOA and ROKU
- Beverly hills hotel on Sunday for Polo lounge brunch + drinks at the pool. Spark up a J at the middle-smoking area and get swarmed by girls

I've been rolling around w/a buddy of mine who has at least 7-8 girls at all times. So my perspective is a bit warped. Unfortunately, the high-end is dominated by soft p4p. So its a myth that you can just go cold into the high-end and kill it. You need a good in and decent relationship w/her crew. The beautiful clique is very small. Usually underpinned by 2-3 connector guys.

As far as payment, guys always pay. So the girls come to whoever can free-roll them + whoever they like.

Can you go hang at the pool at the BHH if you are not a guest? I've eaten at the Polo Lounge for brunch but really never went down to the pool area, don't know the ins/outs of how it works if they have security. Have some out of towners I may take out there in Summer.

This is precisely what makes LA such a disgusting city and it's why G Manifesto among dozens of other guys left LA. That kind of phony, dirty lifestyle does not dominate any other American city, save maybe Miami.

I went to EP/LP on a weekend daytime recently. Posted at the bar for a while waiting for friends. Was shocked at how many girls were just asking for free water (probably since they guys who were gonna supply them with drinks weren't there yet).

Look at it from a broke hot girl's perspective. Do you A) go for guys who have no dough, no pull and are going to sit home or B) go out and hope to meet somebody awesome who doesnt care about spending a few extra dollars on a girl.

Its all mental framing.

I dont blame the girls for their gold-digging, just as I dont blame guys for trying to hit on them when they are out w/me and my boys. Things are as they are.

Even when i've traveled girls like guys w/money. Phils I always paid for drinks. Taiwan same. Thailand...yay i paid for girls drinks.

I went to BOA w/a buddy of mine and we invited 12 girls out. We split drinks (I no-look signed it. ;p) Then rolled out to a club (comped) because we were rolling deep.

Also the girls get us into the best after-hours and comped shows for various things. I've had offers to fly to Miami w/these girls, free suites in Vegas.

My buddy is close w/all these powerful influential people because hes a happy guy, guaped up, surrounded by all these girls.

Its a two-way street.

Every cost has a benefit, and every benefit has a cost.

LA is a tough city because you need your life firing on all cylinders to really kill it here.

You need money, looks, influence and plenty of free time.

If somebody was well off (think 500k+/yr) and wanted me to show them how it works.... Id show them how the 1% live, and trust me its an amazing lifestyle. BUT you cant just show up and deserve to have anything. You have to work for it.

I've stepped foot in A+ spots where its 5-7 girls for every guy....or house parties w/30 girls and 4 guys (not counting staff).

It exists... you just need to break in.

I just don't get the hate. Adapt and overcome. No sense in complaining. If you aren't happy, its your responsibility to fix it. If you can't then go somewhere where you can control your environment.

I know gorgeous girls w/terrible attitudes who keep hitting me up or call me. I ignore them. There is no rule you have to interact w/negative
energy people.

My running partner and I just laugh at these girls. And honestly, its fine. Nobody owes you anything. But it is a small town....one day it'll come around. A hot girl is basically interchangeable. They turn 18,19,20,21 everyday.

Sounds awesome but I'm pretty sure if you're making 500k a year you can ball out like that in any tier 1 city in the entire world.

A guy who doesn't have money, looks, influence and plenty of free time is going to have it rough in LA unless he has a solid niche. And in the meantime until he GETS all those things he's going to be struggling with 5s and 6s and jerking off often.

I plan on moving out of LA in 2018 and maybe come back in my 30s. There's just no point in living in a city with high cost of living, logistics so bad LA should be ashamed to call itself a "tier 1 city", and notoriously flaky and entitled women (even by western society standards).

LA is a city with plenty of hot women that most men don't have access to.

I'd rather live in a place with a dense urban core, excellent public transportation, walkable neighborhoods, and reasonable cost of living. At least then I can have a more balanced lifestyle while I work on building up my income and investments.

Everyday I become more and more sure that I'm going to leave this place.

Thanks for the detailed response. But how does one accumulate a large amount of money yet also have a lot of free time? They're diametrically opposed. I've never met a single wealthy person (and I've met plenty, growing up in Fairfield County, CT) who had much, if any, free time. Gary Vaynerchuk said if you want to make good money, then you're going to have to work 80+ hours a week. You can't be lazy yet be rich (unless we're talking about someone who inherits serious coin from a dead relative).

Broke bartenders probably get more girls than they can manage in LA. LA you do not need money to get laid, you just have to be interesting with an edge and a network. Its a city where having a professional career and stability really isn't going to help you much at all.

I have my job + side hustles and im basically the brokest one in the group (except the girls). I can't answer that question for you, but I do go out pretty regularly.

I'd say you'd need a minimum of 200k/yr (abt 10k/month after tax) to be affluent here in Los Angeles enough that your lifestyle will attract top-tier girls.

I make no excuses that my main girl would likely not give me a second look if I was dead broke. Its just the territory.

But I make no excuses that I am free to bang anybody I want and she tolerates it because odds are its hard to find somebody who can compete w/me.

Its hard...thats just the reality of it.

Hospitality is different because you can always offer free stuff to people and as such you gain status. But take a bartender out of their "bar" and they are mincemeat. I know plenty of them.

Thanks bro for giving me the cold, honest truth. As someone who regularly approaches, I get the vibe that you do the same, since your responses are fair and objective, rather than belligerent, bizarre, and butthurt.
