"No, I mean almost anywhere you find people under 35 congregating, even at spots where incomes are mostly over 90. Now that I think about it, the rare dude in the suit is usually some over-eager climber type (hill staffer, law associate) with not much to show."

I finally got where you are coming from.

DC is one of the most paranoid, self-conscious, insecure, conformist environments out there "where you find people under 35 congregating".

No wonder you have had bad experiences.

Stick to the buttton downed shirt tucked in to khakis and braided belt. No one will mock you then.

Some really good advice coming in from everyone in response to my query, thanks everyone!
I can definitely feel a difference in opinions, but it's always good to get both sides of an issue.
Maybe we're just playing a different ball game here in terms of geography, culture and societal norms. After all, our choices are products of our circumstances; we do what we can, where we are, to pick us as many hot chicks as possible. If a limp, a scarred face and a body full of sores has the highest chances of getting me laid in whatever messed up hood i landed myself into, so be it.

Who is talking about gambling, KingKong? I said Vegas and you assumed I was talking about hitting Tropicana in my finest threads.

No need to get abrasive chief. If you don't like suits then cheers, roll out in whatever makes you happy.

Finally, you don't know me, so don't assume which country clubs/sailing clubs, I do or don't get invited to. For someone participating in a supportive forum, there is no need to get negative.

PS: I would like to know these NYC lounges where a suit would be out of place. I'll stop by to check them out.

With the right attitude, a suit works anywhere. The problem i had when i first started wearing suits socially instead of for buisiness was the idea that "im in a suit everyone looks and respects me" And it rubbed off on my conversation. The proper way to wear a suit is to not give a fuck that you are wearing one, and never mention it or even think about it. Wear it in the same way you wear a T-shirt. It is just another facet of you that people will be dying to learn about, as long as you play it cool.

Seriously, I rocked the most recent beach party in a suit, and did pretty well till i hit the sauce a bit hard. No one brought it up or thought it was weird. Its all about the attitude.

I like the effort of being well dressed, but, boys just to remind you, perfum matters. And you have no idea.
Don't save your money on this. Don't buy a watch. But have a quality perfum.

Great call. You gotta smell good.

perfum = cologne

I've kinda stopped wearing cologne. I own several different types, but just got sick of wearing it because even if it smells nice, the smell becomes nauseating after awhile. These days I'd rather just smell clean than smell fragrant.

Most people laugh at this, but I am trying to live a "natural lifestyle", so I found an organic cologne that is all natural from essential plant/flower oils. This cologne actually smells a lot like other "normal colognes", in fact I think it smells better, I have had many women out at the bar tell me I smell great. It's called Dusk by Herban Cowboy.

I like that Herban Cowboy stuff.

People make trouble with me about my organics, too. I don't sweat it.

Try a cologne called Florascent Santal. It's natural, and I swear it keeps mosquitoes from biting me.

Aloha!

I heartily agree with the cologne advice. Before I found the seduction community the one thing I really had right from the beginning was always using an expensive cologne. I never overdo it so what may seem like a pricey bottle goes a long way, definitely a year or more. One of my favorites right now though I hate the name is Sexual by Michael Germain.

I think a suit will work anywhere so long as your comfortable in it. I read somewhere that they had Sean Connery wear his suit all day so he appeared completely at ease in it for Bond.

It definitely helps to smell good, although if you overdo it, it will be seen as try-hard. Scent should be a hint, not an accessory.

And parfum/perfume is not cologne. There are different types of perfume depending on the concentration of aromatic compounds in it. Here´s the list from wikipedia:

- Perfume extract : 15-40% (IFRA: typical 20%) aromatic compounds
- Eau de Parfum, Parfum de Toilette : 10-20% (typical ~15%) aromatic compounds. Sometimes listed as "eau de perfume" or "millésime".
- Eau de Toilette : 5-15% (typical ~10%) aromatic compounds
- Eau de Cologne : Chypre citrus type perfumes with 3-8% (typical ~5%) aromatic compounds
- Splash and After shave: 1-3% aromatic compounds

Most women already know this but I think it´s also important for guys to get a clue so you know what you´re buying or using.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parfum

I used to wear a lot more when I was younger (like in high school), but when I got to college I started opting more for the clean/neutral smell and only sometimes would I wear cologne lightly. A good way to do this is instead of spraying it directly on your skin, spray it into the air in front of you and walk into the mist.

I´ve also tried those organic oils you find in hippie/bohemian street fairs, like musk oil and stuff. These are pretty concentrated, so I just dab lightly here & there.

Kona & OGNORCAL707,

Great tips on the organic cologne. I've been looking for that. People give me shit about organic too. But I give them shit when they are 30 but look 40, I also give them shit because their pant size goes up 2 inches a year, and I also give them shit when ther getting sick and my doctor says I am his healthiest patient. But mostly, I give them shit when their girlfriend is a chubby, tired looking 5 , and my girl is a slim, vibrant 8.

In SF we say....."Give your money to the farmers, because if you don't, you will just end up giving it to your Gym, Trainer, and Doctor."

You just haven't found your scent. There are perfum families and you may have used the wrong one for your lifestyle.
Myself, for example, I am alergic to strong fragances and smells (cigars, fresh wall painting...) and I rather floral scents, which can be sexy because you have to come closer to feel it.
For man there are other scents, from woods (organic and strong ones it depends - B' women love this sourt of perfum family). If I live closer, I would help you in this. [Image: angel.gif]

Its definitely worth it to buy more expensive cologne. Theres a huge difference in quality once you get up into the $90 and up range for a small bottle. As a consistent brand, I like the Creed line from France, my favorite everyday cologne being Original Vetiver. Very manly and very dry. Women usually love it. You can spray as much as you want on and it doesn't smell like too much. It smells natural, sort of like grass. But in an expensive cologne sort of way. It dries down very naturally. Creed has a lot of other classics as well that you cant go wrong with. A lot of the very successful cheaper mass market colognes are poor copies of the more complex Creed scents. The more expensive lines are usually made with more natural ingredients that not only mature as you wear them, but which blend with your natural body scent much better. There are a lot of other great colognes outside of Creed however, thats just a decent go-to brand.

I've tried a lot of colognes over the years, and it can take a lot of test samples before you find an expensive one thats worth buying. You have to get the testers first so that you dont waste your money. These usually cost a few dollars a piece, and you can order them online.

G- The only criticism I have to say about your blog is, it's not easy to find particular posts. I've been on and have looked for things people have talked about and couldn't find it for the life of me. But... What you post on here is some real shit... I just wish your site was a little easier to access.

Mrs Chocolate,

If the Minotauro that you describe is the same as Minotaure, which I think that it is, its supposed to be one of the best rated classic modern colognes ever.

I haven't tried it, because I believe that it went out of production for a while (I couldn't find it when I was looking), but I think that you probably have very good taste.

It can be, because I don't remember much the bottle. It's been a while since the last time I have seen a man wearing it. Too bad.
Thank you anyway.

Hydo,
basenotes is a great site, thats where I found BodyKouros that I wore this winter. Now you convinced me with your post to get Creed GIT for this summer. Where do you buy online? (ebay is now blocking perfumes)

GIT is on my list too.

I'm not sure where to get online, as its been a while since I've shopped. My best suggestion is a google search.

Also, Nordstrom's, I believe, carries the Creed line. But not sure about their prices. You wont get it cheap anywhere, but at the very least don't get overcharged, and don't buy a fake.
