Of brands one can see typically in fitness shops is any worthy of buying? Or should I buy some specific stuff? To clarify:

- Pure Zinc by Sport Definition
- Ultra Zinc by Vitabiotics
- Zinc Immune Complex by Weider
- Zinc Magnesium by Tesla

All these are available in fitness shops here for very very affordable prices and all have 15 mg pills.

As posted throughout the thread, what you need is Optizinc. It has the optimal formulation including the necessary copper, which is essential to avoid zinc toxicity. Look for Source Naturals Optizinc. Try to avoid Jeff Bezos' store if possible.

I didn't read all the 30 pages of this thread so could someone explain what is so good about Optizinc?

In my current knowledge, Zinc picolinate is the best absorbed variant according to research = https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3630857

Personally I rotate zinc picolinate with zinc orotate for its antioxidant and immune system boosting qualities. I eat a lot of dark chocolate (helps me stay on the Paleo diet when I have sugar cravings) which contains a good amount of copper.

Just to point out your understanding is incorrect. The recommended upper limit is 40mg but that is in relation to ELEMENTAL Zinc.

Each form of zinc contains different levels of elemental zinc for example picolinate contains 21% so effectively if you took 190mg you would then get 39.9mg of elemental zinc.

I think it even mentions this somewhere in the thread.

Check out the below link and scroll down to how to take it explains it in more detail.

The zinc I was taking is in fact Optizinc, so what is being said here is that even if one takes 3x capsules resulting in 90mg of zinc, one is not getting 90mg of elemental zinc which would be overdosing anyway. So 90mg of Optizinc only amounts to about 20mg of elemental zinc, right? Why the bad taste then? And what form is elemental zinc then? Gluconate or?

please keep us updated on the effects. I noticed a small increase in libido and energy, but honestly not enough to make me feel like it was making a substantial impact in my overall quality of life. That as a couple years ago so I'd like to get back on it again and re-try.

Anyone know if Milk/other sources of calcium can interfere with zinc absorption?

yep, calcium can affect how your body absorbs iron, zinc and even magnesium.

I am still not convinced Optizinc has significant advantages over the 2 other more "proven" type of Zinc I mentionned: Picolinate and Orotate

( Optizinc is just zinc chelated with methionine, in the same fashinon zinc is chelated with Picolinic acid )

Guys, how fast can someone expect effects, in my case usage of 60 mg? I think I am experiencing changes even before one week mark.

You've gotta increase your protein intake as well if you want to boost your libido.

Daily I eat:
4-6 egg omelet for breakfast every day.
Either steak, roast pork, chicken or some form of tuna for dinner.

I don't bring ACV with me to work. Maybe I should bring a bottle.
But I do a shotglass full after breakfast and dinner. Helps break down
the protein better and aids in digestion and absorption. Thanks

Zinc I get from a multi-vitamin. Might try the brand you're using and see what happens.

I would steer clear of the eggs, steak, and anything else high in saturated fat. The Paleo diet has perpetuated the bizarre myth that saturated fat is good for you, but the actual science has confirmed that saturated fat decreases your testosterone and also increases your risk of heart disease and diabetes.

So I've been off zinc for awhile now. Just ran out and didn't feel compelled to go get more. Aside from the libido boost I don't think there's a ton going on. Granted I never took large amounts, I think 50mg was the biggest amount but usually I took one Optizinc. Maybe next time I'll try just taking it before going out and only at those times, in a larger amount, see if the charisma/confidence boost I used to think I felt was real or not.

Ultimately I found zinc a hindrance with getting my fapping under control, so I stopped. I still recommend for the easy libido boost. Like I said before in this thread, zinc and pomegranate juice can really uhhh, boost it a noticeable amount. Just don't take both at the same time, it will upset your stomach.

That organization is probably owned by aliens. Why would something humans have been eating for thousands of year be unhealthy? Even ex-vegans like Vegetable Police and Sv3rige go carnivore and feel fantastic.

I personal went from Paleo to Carnivore, and feel better better than I did in my teens. Animals are good for us. It's what we're designed to eat.

Please spell out exactly what these studies mean.

First one: Rats fed a diet high in 'saturated fats' (Palm and Olive oil) have a reduced reaction when given amphetamines. Cool A+

Second: A test run on fatties that lost weight. Not relevant.

Third: Relies on participants self reporting and has 2x the amount of women in the pool. Total junk.

I wanted GoingHam to spell it out because I don't think he actually understood or read the studies fully. He made a large jump based on weak evidence and I wanted him to back it up with the studies he linked.

Appreciate it though.

Zinc has made me a better man.

So I ordered the Opti-Zinc that was recommended here, just to A-B test. Actually to A-B-C-D test, since I have previously taken Zinc Picolinate, and really liked the effect. Right now I am taking Zinc Orotate, its good but I think I had better results with Picolinate (libido, morning boners, etc). As a fourth contender in my iHerb order I also had the Zinc Glycinate.

Tried the Opti-Zinc for a few days, and didnt feel anything at all. Then tried the Glycinate and its been great. Maybe best so far.
So my ranking would be Glycinate > Picolinate > Orotate > OptiZinc.

Now about to order some Zinc Glycinate. What kind of dose are you taking?

I remember reading that the body can only absorb around 15mg of Zinc twice a day. So those trying "Zinc over-dosing" are just wasting money.
The best would be to take 15mg of zinc in morning and 15mg at night. But most supplements come at 30mg so I only take once a day.

EDIT: here is a study echoing what I read before : https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15585770

CONCLUSIONS: Increases in aqueous zinc doses >20 mg result in relatively small and progressively diminishing increases in absorbed zinc in healthy adults.

Seems like it’s putting some sense on the zinc bandwagon thread.

To say it gives the same results as if you were taking testosterone shots is a little misleading.

I bought some zinc gluconate and had a bunch of pills daily, to no results. I guess I’ll continue focusing on a good diet.

Watch out for the placebo effect.
