Data Sheet: Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico!

Here's is my take on Guadalajara.
A bit of background, mid-20's North American, white, good looks, skinny, beginner game.
I lived in Guadalajara for 4 months, my first stop in my journey towards Colombia.
-I landed in Puerto Vallarta as it is the quickest route from where I live to the state of Jalisco. Wasn't very impressed by the beaches, and there were a far too many gringos around for my liking. One day I decided to go to the town of Sayulita to check out the waves and the beaches which were supposedly better there than in PV. Definitely better in terms of the environment. Girls in both places however were not really catching my eye and if PV was overrun by Mr. Frogs restaurants and retired gringos, Sayulita was overrun by young, hippy, gringo surfers. The one night I stayed in Sayulita I went to the main square to see if I could spot any talent. Besides a few kids playing there was nothing until a trio of girls walked by (2 x6.5's, 1x 5). One came over and asked if I had a lighter. I didn't have one, but it seemed like an obvious excuse to come and see me so I took my opportunity to open them. Based on their white skin, and addiction to their phones, I was sure that they were fresas (young, rich, spoiled mexicans). This would be proven later on. I talked with them for a bit and it turned out they were from Guadalajara. After some small talk, I convinced them to grab a couple of beers and go to the beach. 2 of the 3 seemed interested, and as this was a vacation town I was expecting something good to happen. This soon turned out to be wrong. There wasn't enough comfort even after spending a couple hours together. As well I was solo and it was proving difficult to clown all 3. They started talking about going home, and while 1 was against me going with them, another girl seemed to be on my side and let me hop in the taxi to get to there place. It was a long 30 minute ride, and I was beginning to think I was going to get kidnapped or going to some secret narco hide-out, we weren't that far from Sinaloa. Ends up that 1 of the girls parents is quite well off and they had a private beach condo. One of the nicest views I have seen in Latin America. The parents weren't home and there were two extra empty rooms, I kept gaming thinking that it would be easy to isolate. Something must have been off because after a couple more hours of joking around and small talk, they just showed me my room and left me. Next morning they walked me to the bus back to the bus stop. I got their numbers and met up with the 1 girl twice, but nothing ever happened.
After I went to another town called San Francisco. Of the three coastal towns, I preferred this quiet little place. No other way to describe it besides peaceful. Most of the people seemed to be Mexicans avoiding the gringos in Sayulita and PV. I spent a day at the beach and as I was leaving I opened this really cute mexican girl, short, curvy, nice boobs and hips, mestiza skin. She responded with a pretty smile and we left the beach together along with her sister. We talked for a bit and we were going different directions, her to Sayulita, and me to PV, so I got her number and said we would meet up in GDL.
-After a week on the coast I took a bus from PV to GDL. Took about 4 hours altogether, and I don't remember the cost, but it wasn't too much. My ex-roomate is from GDL so his Dad picked me up from the bus terminal and I stayed with them for a week while I looked for a place to stay. That first week taught me a lot:
1. Tapatios, as they are called, are very conservative. While my ex-roomates family was more conservative than most (the Mom sold Jesus and Virgin of Guadalupe statues in a local mall), for the most part, almost everybody remains adheres to good Catholic values.
2. It's difficult to find a private apartment for a short-stay. As I have realized in most of Latin America, you need to be staying for at least 6 months and have references if you want the regular price, if not you are renting from a guy who charges you the inflated gringo price. I ended up with the latter, living in a decent place behind templo expiatorio.
NEIGHBOURHOODS
People told me to live by chapultepec. It is one of the safest parts of GDL and one of the main public places. On weekends the avenue there filled up with street performers and kiosks selling everything from books to clothes to handicrafts. I ended up living not far from there, kind of in between Chapultepec and Centro. While I was hoping that this place would be a daygame goldmine, it wasn't all it cracked up to be. During the week there were mostly professionals who worked in the nearby government offices. Even at peak hours between 3-6, when all the students were leaving the nearby universities and the others from work, I wasn't blown away with talent. In the Chapultepec and centro area you are going to find a lot of middle class people. The closer you get to el Centro, the poorer it seems the people get. If you are in Guadalajara for the history and beautiful architecture of eras gone by, definitely go here. If you are in Guadalajara for girls, there are better neighbourhoods. There is one ray of hope, and that is the nightclub LOLA LOLITAS. More on this later.
Providencia is getting closer to Zapopan, and is one of the new trendy areas of GDL. I think this is the best compromise neighbourhood if you don't want to deal too much with the snobbishness of the Anderes area, but you don't want to be too far away from the clubs in Anderes nor the central location of Chapultepec and centro. I didn't go there much, but there were a few nice places, a lot of foot traffic, better quality girls, as well as some Universities nearby. Prices here will be higher than the Chapultepec/Centro area.
The last place is the Andares. This is the heart of the Fresas. The cities nicest mall is here as well as its best night clubs. If I could do it all over again, I would live close to here. I never went during the day, but at night, there were some of the nicest tapatias I had seen. Tight dresses, high heels, dolled up, a sight to see. Of course, the highest prices will be in this area.
Transportation
I never trusted taxis that much and I found like most taxis in LA, they gave me the gringo price more often than not. Your best bet, especially at night, is UBER. Good price and reliable. Public transportation is improving, and soon there will be a light rail line that goes all the way from Zapopan to Tlaquepaque. Most buses are unairconditioned, heaps of junk and they are confusing to figure out. If you need to use them, just ask somebody and they will tell you which one you need.
NIGHTLIFE
LOLA LOLITAS: My favourite place. No cover, small, intimate, room to move. As most already should know, ladies night is one of the best nights to go. This happens every Wednesday. Men are not allowed to enter until 11 pm. If you are waiting outside you might think that the party will turn into a sausage fest with all the guys that are waiting, but one thing that GDL does not lack is pretty girls. Once you get in the ratio is really good, more girls to guys. The lower level is the roundbar in the centre and some small tables, with a lot of room to move around. The upper floor is VIP tables, there will be a lot of hot girls here, but if you don't have connections or social circle, it's tough to game these girls. Before I left I had slowly built up a connection with the bartender and the security, using Christian McQueen's techniques for getting a club on lock. For this reason or because I was white, I never had a problem getting inside. Wednesdays are best, Thursday to Saturday are hit or miss.
CHACAL and EL REY
These are 2 bars beside each on the same street close to Chapultepec. Chacal is filled with people. It plays mostly latino music, especially cumbia mexicana. There are no tables, but you can feel like a sardine at times. There is a line to get in, but if I remember correctly, no cover. El Rey is beside Chacal and is even smaller. It is as though they put a bar in a school hallway. Really good place to go if you want to try some mezcal and just get wasted. I swore I saw things after drinking the Mezcal here. I prefer la santa, gran salon corona, or la santa if you are looking for lots of sets and sexy girls.
GRAN SALON CORONA
I only went here once, and it was with a date, but I was impressed. It is a huge nightclub dedicated to latino dance music. There is salsa, cumbia mexicana, bachata, etc. The dance floor is a nice size with a stage on one side where bands play and performers dance, and then three different levels of tables. A classy place that is well organized and a great place for pick up if you have dance moves. The dance floor was packed with a good ratio of girls. As well there is cover.
LA SANTA
This is the monster of all clubs in GDL. It's annoying to get in as there is no line, just a throng of young men and women shouting at the guard to let them in. They usually give you a piece of paper with the number of people in your group, and it seems you scream at the guards with this paper until they let you in. There is cover which is a bit high, but not too expensive. Once your in, you feel like you have been transported to a Miami super club. My first time there, there were no tables in the dancefloor area, just packed with people. Surrounding the dancefloor were two different levels of VIP tables, for Mireyes, fresas and narcos. That first night was perfect for pickup. All I had to do was stand in one spot, wait for eye contact (or not), and approach. I went another night, and for whatever reason there were tables in the dancefloor area and the situation was lackluster for pick-up. It seems like everything depends on what night you go.
NOTE
Dress up. In all of these places, dressing up like a lazy hipster will not do you any favours. I suited up, and seemed to work wonders for me.
GIRLS
The girls here can be very beautiful. Normally they have whiter skin than most Mexicans from more southern regions, and luckily, they have some generous curves. Biggest issue is that they are some of the most conservative girls I have met. ONS seem impossible, especially if you are new here. Most live with their families, even if they are already working. When they go out, they go out with their sisters, and as I found out one time, with their brothers. The most I ever got out of a night was heavy make outs. I found that the girls most DTF were usually from another state like Chihuahua or Michoacan. Your best bet for the lay is on a second date, but even then, if your game is not tight, you are looking at long game. These are good, conservative girls and they will not give it up for anything.
PEOPLE
I am living in Colombia now in the Carribean Coast, and I would say that Tapatios are miles ahead in friendliness. Even though I look incredibly gringo, I never felt any animosity like I do here in Colombia. People are nice and will quickly open up to you, especially since gringos aren't common here, which makes them curious. As well they seem to be hard workers and generally well-behaved.
FOOD
Mexico has the best food, drink, alcohol culture I have seen thus far in my travels. Everyday I dream of eating tacos again, drinking some jugo verde in the morning, or taking back some smooth mezcal.
OVERALL
Good place if you are looking to set up a new home or second home. Learn to dance cumbia, salsa and bachata, learn to speak Spanish, and you will be rewarded eventually. Not a good place if you are planning on making a short weekend trip.
