Tier 2 without some Russian is going to be a really hard slog mate. You would have to concentrate on finding english speakers, which relegates you to online searches or a ton of approaches. There are more english speakers in Kiev itself, and while in Kiev is can be harder to pull, you will actually find it easier simply because you will meet more women who can speak English.

Seems as if a few guys here have been teaching. Seems like a strategically good way to do things as it opens up a few doors.

People are overly concerned with Euro 2012. These tournaments are so massive they become a festival, so there is some good to it. Its going to be one hell of a party

I use Google Translate mostly on dates, rather using it as a pick up technique, but there has been times.

I cannot speak for other Tier two cities as I have only done Kiev.

how's the teaching been in terms of the day to day work? Names aside, did you look at any schools in particular. Do many of them mind if a teacher sees their students? Is the $6 pretty standard? What class size? What age range? Any comments on the work of teaching?

Deb, I am just wondering if your looks have something to do with you being recognized or possibly mistaken for a certain celebrity! Since you mentioned in your previous posts that you are 6-6" and if from Serbia I assume darker looks you might look like one of the Klitchko brother's...as they are the same height, age (both mid 30's), dark looks, and possibly the biggest celebrity's of this generation. Maybe that is the reason why girls seem to remember you so well in such a large city

-old guys (50s+) come here and expect to be playboys, usually they end up paying or in marriage agency scams, where basically the girl is payed to go on a date with guy. I have seen multiple old american middle class guys here completely drained of cash. One could not even afford a plane ticket home and was teaching english to subsist. I would say if your not old and very rich, don't bother. The exception being the smart ones, who focus exclusively on women in their 30s with a kid. This is usually better than what they get back home and is a sensible strategy for old guys.

THOSE WHO DO OKAY:

-Other middle eastern peoples do okay, like Iranians. Ukranians/russians can tell the difference between these guys and turks.

-french guys do well, Russians and Ukrainians tend to see the french language as being very posh/elite. This is because the Russian elite historically spoke french.

-Slavic and part slavic guys from the west, even when they don't speak any Russian, do well for obvious reasons.

-speaking some russian/ukrainian definately helps.

-bald/balding guys do better than back home, it does not seem to be an issue here. In fact, i did not notice any huge difference for results between bald/balding guys and guys with hair.

-being really slim is not in style in ukraine like in the west. being somewhat overweight is not a big deal.

MISC:

-average women from the west that come to Ukraine hate it here because of all the competition, they get basically no attention; feminists seriously hate it here. Very pretty girls from the west that come here love it here, I think because they aren't constantly picked up 24/7 like in the west due to all the competition. gives them tranquility. I know of two 8.5-9.5 girls back in the US who actually want to live in Ukraine permanently.

-I was seeing a girl who was working at a marriage agency behind the scenes, she told me no one ever gets married. the girl that goes on dates is a payed model, who goes on 1-2 dates than rejects the guy ("sorry its not working out"). the person who chats with the guy is not the girl who shows up, girls are basically given a data sheet before the date. They guy who ran the hostel I was staying at also told me in several years, he has never seen any old foreign guys marry a hot young ukrainian. It just doesn't happen and is basically a scam. Sorry old dudes!

-another girl I was seeing (Russian), told me an interesting saying that Russian women follow: there are no ugly women, only lazy women.

-don't speak russian to women in western ukraine. They don't like russians and will even go so far as to tell you to speak english.

-don't dress like a metrosexual, that shit does not fly in Ukraine. dress mostly black, well fitted, designer brands.

-night clubs have many pros in them, there is no 'go to night club and hook up' culture here. however, the fact that there are pros does not make it a brother, its still a club. best to bring a non-pro girl to a club then take her back to your place afterwards.

-seeing ukrainian women walk in stilletos in the dead of winter on icy cobblestone streets is a sight to behold.

That's a great report. I went to Ukraine many times over 3 years and had several girlfriends. I haven't been in 5 years but plan on going back. Most of the guys that go through marriage agencies are desperate and know nothing about dating and get killed. Ukrainian girls are tough as nails and know how to scam. Real interesting to read some of the observations into Slavic culture and the women.

However I am not sure I would derive that much satisfaction from all that bleeding you'd have to do whilst there.
