bringing back and old thread here. I am likely to be in Belarus at the back end of this month...Gomel to be precise.....anybody got any experience(s) to share on Belarus / Gomel please? many of the main posters to this thread are now banned.

Ps - Before anybody asks...yes I do speak Russian, not fluent...but certainly conversational / advanced level.

I was in Minsk last May, took advantage of the visa free regime while the world cup in hockey took place.
I also speak Russian although i am not native but Slavic background, so it did help me a bit as English is less spread then probably anywhere else in Europe.
This is one of the rare countries left in Europe where a westerner has a cool factor, if you are a 7 in your home country you would be a 8 or a 9 there just because you look and dress differently. Everywhere you go, girls will give you a lot of eye contact, sometimes stares, but in a good way. It does stroke the ego, at least it was for me.
Also it is one of the most ethnically pure countries i've seen in Europe, hardly any immigrants, even the natives look very alike, you will rarely see someone with really dark features or dark eyes, unless is foreign.
First tip is don't try the cocky/funny type of game, no negging or similar mind games, i don't think they grasp the western sarcasm or humor that well.
Best approach is be friendly, ask a lot of questions, maybe like directions or whatever comes to mind about their culture, cuisine etc. This will help break the ice as these girls are a bit shy and not as extrovert at first like the anglosaxon girls for example. I am talking daygame obviously, night game is different tactic, probably closer to western standards. People do like to drink so they are less shy at night.
Once you break the ice, it's much easier, offer a drink, dinner and so on, and you have a good chance of landing some hot Belarussian ass!
They are gorgeous on average, a bit understated in dress compared to Ukrainians, i would say a bit blonder and taller on average too, which is not a bad thing [Image: wink.gif].
Unfortunately i only stayed in Minsk, but i am sure it will be much easier to achieve more in the smaller towns, let us know how it went.
I wouldn't mind going there few more times, although i would rather have a wingman or two to join me.

I'm not seeing any difference. It's probably slightly cheaper to go out and court girls now, that's about it. Rent is supposedly lower (I paid a bit less last 2 months)

It's grim out in the provinces that's for sure. Minsk is the showpiece of Belarus. All political and economic life revolves around it and outside of that, there is not much except for collective farms and faltering Soviet era state owned enterprises. I will be heading to Brest on a business trip next weekend for a couple of weeks. It will interesting to see what its like there and hope to meet up with Ligurian of he is about.

How Ligurian does not have reps in the 3 digits is beyond me. His stories are fascinating and inspirational and for guys like myself who can't travel more than a month per year (as we are chained to a desk & computer) I live vicariously through them. Since you have "advertised" yourself as a photographer can you please post some photo's of these depressing towns? Perhaps even snap a photo or two of the local talent? [Image: banana.gif]

You can save the files into smaller sizes. Or upload to something like a picture uploader on the Internet. And just post the link.

Or pm me and I'll give you my email and I'll help you out. But we have to trade...

For more reports lol. I'll be honest, I woke up today wanting to find out how swimming went. [Image: biggrin.gif]

Anyway, as I said you write great stuff and tripleG is right not sure why you don't have more rep points. I'm sure all the lurkers love your writing also.

Yup and in some countries it's no doubt 12 but you have to live by your own code in life and one of mine is I don't fuck 16 year olds. No judgement towards others who do but it's not what I'm about.

Damn Ligurian. Your posts really do spark my imagination. Some of the best written stuff here.

I'm assuming Chinese noodles are store bought or did you find a Chinese restaurant in this small town/village?

That does seem super weird not to be acknowledged at the gym.

And of course I read Brest as Breast.

At least they have Internet there.

Safe travels.

Got it. I don't really understand the logic, but if you have your own personal rule, that makes sense. I'm not hung up on age myself, just as long as it's legal and I feel that she's 'ready'. Sometimes girls are ready at 16, sometimes not until they're 18-19-20.
But then again, in my country most people start at 14-15...

Great posts, by the way. I'm enjoying the stories about those villages. A question, though... have you noticed any drug abuse? In Russian villages there is usually a lot of it.

Dave: no not noticed any but a woman I met said be careful with the girls here as many have AIDS. I presume that's from needle use.
Needle use, but also men who come back from their year of conscription where they meet a lot of prostitutes. Usually they share a prostitute between 4-5 soldiers. You can probably imagine the HIV rates...

Ligurian, great posts. Your writing really makes the forlorness & melancholy of these people and places palpable. Takes me back to a trip I took 12 years ago through central/eastern Europe & Baltics camping with some french guys (I am American and was like 16 at the time). There is a certain romance to visiting places that it seems time has forgotten or that have been somehow left behind; spending one's life there however seems a death sentence.

Perhaps things will improve and in two weeks time you will be sitting in a flowery meadow while two virgin Anastasias frolick naked for your enjoyment. Trade all that gloom and emptiness for some mystery and nubility. Maybe that's just my fantasy...still a work in progress.

Yes I just mean regular noodles with a flavour sachet from a supermarket. I'd be very pissed if I found on my last day that there was a Chinese restaurant here all along.
I can only imagine the quality of the food if some Chinese guy migrated to this small town to start a restaurant. Just meaning I doubt it would have been any good. Unless he has a story like this one. http://www.rooshvforum.network/thread-44711.html

So this probably shouldn't be on my bucket list?

Threads like these always remind me of how grateful I am to RVF and the adventurers who enjoy the journey into the unknown.

That was pretty funny. I am glad I wasn't eating or drinking anything when I read that.
