I think the 90 degrees things is where people tend to have some discrepencies. People thinking they are going all the way to the full 90, but actually stopping somewhere around 80-89, which for me is much, much easier. Kind if like how some people don't go all the way down when doing pullups and consider it the same exercise as fully extending your arms.
I don't particularly care about the number of reps because I tend to get better results by doing a smaller number by using the entire range of motion.

Has anyone tried the perfect pushup? It actually does a pretty good job of making you keep perfect form and makes it a lot harder

Perfect pushup takes advantage of your fist grip (it's an inch-two inches higher than your flat palms) plus the added perfect pushup (possibly an inch and a half) to make pushups easier since there's less weight on your hands, effectively. You ever take trig?
One hundred pushups is a ROCK SOLID goal to shoot for. I am a lazy man and would stop at 50, however. My reason is that at fifty pushups, you can probably do one-armed pushups. Why train so many reps when you can train fewer reps and get more results?

I don't consider it a pushup unless your hands and elbows are tucked close to your body and your arms are basically folding flat to the ground. The whole "90 degrees" crap was invented by people who bench press.

I did some a few weeks ago while my gym was shut, cranked out 34 then feet on couch for 20 then did another 50 in sets of 8-12 with feet up. If I actually trained for them I am pretty sure I could hit sets of 60 within 3 weeks. I do them in my knuckles btw, flat handed is a girls pushup.

I don't really see the need to limit myself to a single method of pushup. I think adding diamonds, inclines, declines, and doing things like adjusting your hand placement (closer, further, on top of a medicine ball, etc) is important to challenge your muscles differently.
To me thinking there is only way to do a push up is kind of like saying there is only one way to lift a dumbbell.

I took a weekend day and did 1,000 pushups in a day in sets of 20. It was surprisingly less difficult than I thought it would be.

just got to week 4, I haven't been to the gym in 4 months and they're pretty hard on me. Banging out 30-40 on the first set is easy, but the following sets hurt a lot, especially the last one is killer. sometimes I gotta retry them cuz I'm so burnt out at the end.

Literally just did 50 after seeing this thread, I've always been pretty weak with push ups and been better with sit ups instead but I'll try this out.

I gave it a shot but got knocked out in week 5... the work-load increase is ridiculous. Maybe if I focused on just this I could do it, but not while I'm trying to maintain my bench and do crossfit. Hoping to reach 100, but it's not going to be this way.

I read the piece. I had actually just decided I ought to do the same, so it's great to read it worked. That is, doing variations of push-ups.
Because I already work-out daily, I'll try to do my push-ups in the AM. That should be enough time to recover before evening work-outs.
Man, I LOVE getting in shape. But I HATE missing work-outs.

I just did the initial test and managed to make 30 consecutive ones. This thing is really exhausting, but while I was near half, my right wrist started to feel uncomfortable, which I believe made me stop at 30.
Anyways, anyone here can already do 100 thanks to this program?

Ok, right now I'm up to 60 straight, but I managed to do 3 sets of 50 after the initial set of 60 this morning., feeling pretty good so far and I have been going to the gym more regularly so naturally have been in better shape the last few months.

For those who are in better shape, I do my own training and push my self a lot. I often do some circuit and here some exemples:
100 chain up
100 dip
100 squat
100 push up
The first time I did it in 19 minutes,the second time in 16.
Another one is 5 chin up , 10 push up,15 squat = 1 round . You have to do the more round in 20 minutes .
The first time I did 24 round, the second time I did 30 .
I think a log training thread would be interesting .
