I'm normally a weightlifter.

I quit painkillers in February, haven't drank in forever, cut out weed two weeks ago. Caffeine, ephedrine, and vaped nicotine now, no getting drunk/high/jammed etc.

I've been doing pushups every damn day to chill out, one big set to start (31) then small sets throughout the day, 10-12.

I normally lift 3 times a week, overweight (6'3" 285) but bench up to 300 (yes bad for my weight, good if I get cut) for two sets of 8 fail at 6 on third set as of now.

Haven't been lifting since daily pushups I'm hooked.

Is this routine idiotic? I'm kind of assuming it is, no recovery. Would like feedback.

If it is I'll switch to shadowboxing and jumping jacks to blow off steam.

This is absolutely not idiotic at all, I followed a very similar path many years ago.

At one point in my life I was a 260 pound powerlifter/bodybuilder.
I always had some fucking nagging injury, extreme soreness, aggravating lower back pain, in an "angry" mood, terrible gas tank (tired easily) and even with all that power was still insecure about my ability to handle myself in an altercation.

Fast forward 2+ years and I am the complete opposite of what I was.
I now train exclusively
1) Bodyweight Exercises (Pushups, Planks, Pull Ups, Dips, Leg Lifts, Knee Lifts, Bridges, Squat variations)
2) Mixed Martial Arts (Grappling, Muay Thai, Boxing, Kickboxing)
3) Sprinting, Jogging and Walking
I weigh 170lbs now and look a million times more attractive than I use to.
The changes I have experience are night and day.
No nagging injuries, I feel flexible and light as a feather.
Never get sore anymore, I literally train 7 days a week and still feel like I have limitless energy to spare.
Lower back pain is gone, my lower back feels solid as hell now.
My mood is fantastic, I feel like a cocky arrogant prick 24/7, never angry anymore.
Cardio is on point, I struggle to break a sweat now.
Insecurities about self-defense are completely gone, I'm a savage an animal a BEAST!
My leg kicks, body kicks, teep kicks, elbows, knees, clinches, jabs, hooks, uppercuts, are all fast, accurate and powerful as fuck.

Note: I still do some weightlifting movements, however I don't go heavy, I go very high rep (25+) and I do a lot of Grip training too.
Having a vice like Grip is essential to extremely high self confidence, I have personally found.

Basically, unless you are making money from it - fuck yeah ditch the Powerlifting/Bodybuilding BS pronto.

I like this idea. I currently do 3x20 each morning as part of general stretch and core muscle work out. http://hundredpushups.com/index.html is an interesting take on it a much simpler route that i have seen before is just increment by 1 each day in a set of 3.

Day 1: 1 | 1 | 1
Day 2: 2 | 2 | 2
Day 3: 3 | 3 | 3 etc.

All the way until day 100 when you do 100 | 100 | 100. So I have never gone further than a day 20 version of this.

Will be turning 32 before the end of the year.
Time flies and age is just a number, I feel healthier, stronger, faster and better looking now than I did @ 21.
