Iphone 5s has a fingerprint recognized home switch. Fuck yeah and I'm getting one.

If you are looking to travel, get the Verizon one. It's unlocked and it has the most internationally compatible LTE bands. When I first got my 5s the gold was a conversation starter (I got it at launch), but now not so much. Battery life is legit too.

Is there a jailbreak for the 5s yet?

Anyone else who had a iphone5 which stopped charging? It's no crap or anything like that in the socket.

Is this part possible to order somewhere online? It should be replaceable.

Yes, but only if you have iOS 7.0 - 7.0.6. If you updated to 7.1 there is no jailbreak and the hackers say they will wait for iOS 8 before the next jailbreak, from what I understand.

Put in the firmware version and it tells you what package you need to jailbreak or if you're out of luck.

I know Otterbox is good but they are bulky. I want to retain the slim feel of this phone.

iPhones are a lot more robust than you think. Be careful and don't drop them on the sidewalk. If you have AppleCare you can get a new one for $50 if you shatter the screen.

What I do have on mine is this 3M Privacy Screen Protector. Yeah, the picture quality isn't as good with it, but it protects your screen from scratches and stuff while protecting your phone from preying eyes. Useful if you're banging 2+ girls at a time.

I've had an iPhone for 6 years, dropped it probably 200 times and it never cracked.

They tested it in the military and all I can say it works.

The replacement screens you get on ebay aren't going to be as tough as the original screen. Apple is pretty tight with their supply of Gorilla Glass and you're unlikely to find it in aftermarket parts. If you own an iPhone it's worth getting the AppleCare. They'll replace a cracked screen twice for $79 a pop.

Upgraded to IOS 7 and my fake USB to lightning cable stopped working pretty much all together. Now I have to unplug it and re plug it a bunch of times to charge it and have to get an authentic charger to put it back on when it fully dies. This is bullshit, I don't buy Apple's excuses about it being safer and shit, it's just a money thing. Had an authentic charger, it stopped working a couple months after I got it.

If you have applecare coverage, which is only $100, you can get your phone replaced for $80. Up from $50, which it was before. My mistake. Apple will give you a whole fresh phone too, so everything is minty-fresh.

If you actually had applecare and they wanted $269, then something was wrong. You get 2 $80 out of warranty replacements with your applecare coverage. I figure in two years I'll use one or both of those, saving me at least $90.

Apparently my iphone 4s that I just bought for close to $400 dollars(it was band new) is region locked. I bought it specifically for traveling...... I was fairly pissed about the situation until I looked around and saw the sun setting over the ocean and people flying around in these contraptions with parachutes and big fans strapped to them. Then it dawned on me my iphone situation might suck but at least my living situation has vastly improved.

Is there a way to unlock the iphone 4s? I would really like to use it for traveling since thats why I bought it, plus after using it a few weeks in the states I learned to love it. I realy don't want to buy another phone but a iphone 4s here is $500 dollars.

Simpler and better solution is to just get a MiFi device when you travel locally, or else buy one and get SIM cards for it locally.

You can't software unlock it. Only 4 (some basebands) and older.

You can pay someone to get it factory unlocked tho, but prices vary (depending on which carrier it is locked too).

I don't know what he did I had a girl with me that was telling him what I wanted since I don't speak Spanish. Will my phone now work in other countries with a new sim card?

Yes. I have an iPhone 5, unlocked, that I use for when I travel out of the USA. I used it in August in both Italy and France (on Vodafone); worked perfectly.

   

Also, make sure you get an international charger from Apple for when you travel. Yeah, you could cheap out and buy/use a generic charger, but the chance of blowing out your phone and then having no phone increases. I bought mine off of Amazon, from Apple for ~$34. Otherwise, they cost ~$40 at an Apple Store (in the USA).

Yes man, it is pretty nice, you unlock your iphone simply by touching it. I read about it (fyi here) and a friend of mine got it, pretty sweet

Ok so what that guy did to make my phone work is put some micorochip looking thing under my simcard. My calling and texting works now with the phone but my internet and data does not.

If I get my phone 4s jailbroken or whatever you call it will I be able to use different sim cards and data plans? This is my first apple product other then a gen 1 ipod..So I am pretty clueless for the most part when it comes to these types of things.

I think it's better to cover it with $80 otter box. it becomes twice as thick and it pretty much ignores the design but who cares? you have a precious iphone. you gotta protect it!

So, a long story short, for all you iphone experts there.

Now I have a Iphone 5s that is simlocked in a foreign country.
I reached out to the operator but they told me that they haven't any unlocking services.

So at this moment my phone is pretty useless here because I can't use the phone with a Finnish sim.

Is there anyway to get around this to unlock this phone?
Or is it game over?
