You meet them at a friend's party or through them, in such a way that they trust you and not flake anymore, that is how it becomes easy. My younger brother has a huge network of friends, and in that way, he kills it and has it easy for him but for pure pickup, people should expect quite a challenge.

Also, Medellin itself is not for wimps. Tell that housemate next time he annoys and doesn't understand english, to "Menj háza, ne zavarj" ( meny haazo, ne zavari) - go home, don't bother me.

More than likely if you are flying in for a quick one-two week trip your gonna struggle, unless you go the easy route with prepagos or have some internet girls lined up......BUT if you are a lucky enough to actually live here, have a good job, nice condo .......it's a gold mine.......

Unless it's a dinner date at your house. That is ideal, but it also seems that could be hard to get with the Colombian girls on a first date. I tried it and got stood up. As someone mentioned before, it seems a little hard to get these girls to trust you. It seems like it's easier to get them to go out to a club though, which is good too. The one that stood me up after I met her at the club, I just text her today and asked if she wanted to go tonight, she said she'd be there with some friends. She seemed ready to go. I think she was just a little hesitant to meet up with me solo since she doesn't know me well. But some other girls I've been talking to have no problem with it.

I also agree that Colombia is a great place for long term. If you are only here for a week, it could probably be frustrating trying to get the bang. But even a couple months seems like you could do some pretty good work. I see where you're coming from G on the Vegas analogy. It definitely isn't easy like that here. I mean you can get lucky and maybe that could happen, but it will happen 90% of the time more in Vegas than it would here. It's definitely not EASY here in that regard. You definitely have to put in some work. I feel it would be rare to meet a girl and bang here a couple hours later here.

A little update on my trip...

So a buddy and I want to check out somewhere new that we haven't been in Medellin yet... After a couple beers at my favorite happy hour spot/ hostel, Tigger Paw, we head to Las Palmas. Buddy says he hears its a good spot. We show up, we see 3 bars. The first we're told is the best, so why not, let's check it out? I'm smokin' a cig in the parking lot, not even on our way to the door, and security comes up and says, "Are you guys trying to come it?" Indeed we are! "Well, you're two men with no women, there's no way you're getting in." No worries, let's check out the other two bars... We walk in, everyone is seated and in groups. Doesn't look like the spot for us, so we ask one of the guys instructing the traffic in the parking lot where else we can go in the area. He points us the direction of "The best spot," which also happens to be a private party. That didn't work out, but we asked security there which was the best place to go in the neighborhood, he basically told us we were SOL and should move on to somewhere else. Cool, we grabbed a taxi and headed to Calle 33. On the way, out of las palmas, of course we see a couple of potentially good looking spots that nobody decided to mention to us... All good, too late now, let's check out Calle 33.

On the way to Calle 33, I tell the driver we're looking for something more like a discoteca. I told him that in Las Palmas, almost everyone was seated and in groups, we were looking for a more dance friendly venue. He informs me that Calle 33 is somewhat similar in the sense that it's lots of groups and people seated, but that it was better than Barrio Colombia (Which my friend was at the night before, I still haven't been but want to go). But whatever, it's all good. He asks us where we want to go in Calle 33, I tell him wherever he thinks is best. He kept telling me, "The best area is up here," and at first I think he's just trying to get some extra $ off us, but turns out, he was right. He drops us off at the most poppin' spot on Calle 33.

We pull up, and there are too many spots to choose from. Buddy and I decide it's best to take a walk down the street first to explore our options before choosing. We get towards the end of what looks like the best section and decide our best bet is to ask the next group of cute girls we see, where would be the best spot for us to go. Within 10 seconds of making this decision, we see a group of 5 sexy ass girls walking towards us. It was like a gift from god.... I approach the leader of the group (Buddy speaks almost 0 spanish) and ask, "Ladies, we're trying to find the best spot for two gringos to have a good time tonight." The girl responds, "The best place is with us, come on!" The only better answer could have been, "The tunnel of never ending vagina, Duh!" But since that doesn't exist, we decided to make our way with the girls. We get to a bar and they say, "This is it!" Once we get in, buddy asks, "How old are they?" At first I didn't think much of it, cause the sexy bitch I was talking to/ approached had a fat ass and big tits. I wouldn't have guessed any less than 18. But WTF? May as well ask. Turns out, the girl is 16! Shhhiiiiiiiitt. Look, I don't have anything against ya'll if you're into that, but for me, I can't do it. We tell the girls we have to leave, and decide to check out the other discotecs around the area.

We walk down the street, we see a club that seems to be good, lots of girls outside. I walk up and ask, "Do you have to pay to get in?" The girl at the door informs me, "No, but did you know this is a lesbian bar?" Perfect! I'm a lesbian too! I love bitches!!! But after 0 seconds of evaluating, we decided we should move on. We come up to the next discoteca, go in, not only are we the only gringos, but the only white gringos. Lots of groups, lots of people seated. Probably not our spot. I actually like black women, but, I just wasn't feeling the vibe. Next spot, we go up, I don't think a head in the house was over 21. Again, we run into the same problem. Everyone was young as hell! A colombian kid who speaks a little English realizes that we are clearly gringos comes up and starts talking to us. His English was worse than my Spanish I soon came to find out, and I end up asking where we can go where it isn't all seated groups under 20 years old. He informs me that downstairs is "better." We walk downstairs and quickly turn around. We decide that unless we want to bang 16 year olds, we have to go somewhere else. On our way towards the end of the street, I come across a group of cute girls, hoping they are at least 20, but nope, more like 17. We ask them where is good to go for the night. Why I would ask a group of 17 year old girls where to go? Part because I had no other ideas, part because I was tipsy, and part because I wanted to practice my approaching in Spanish. One of the girls loved my accent, she told us to go to La Estrada. Cool, it's close to where I'm staying and it's good? Let's go!

After a short taxi ride, our taxi driver tells us 12k people a year are killed in Medellin. Then he tells us 2k people a year are killed in Medellin. Then he tells us 6k people are killed a year in Medellin all in the same ride. May as well ask this guy where to go at this point, he sounds just about as relevant as everyone else we asked. We pull up to La Estrada, and I realize I've already been here. The place sucks, yeah there is some tallent, and a club that cost COP$20 to get in, but the security wouldn't even let me see inside before, so we passed it up.

We decide, fuck it, we're close, let's just go to Lleras. We're walking around and see a spot that has potential. I look at the sign and it reads, "Mr. Chupito." I remember earlier someone telling me that was the spot to go in Lleras. At this point, why I would listen to anyone's suggestion, I don't know, but we looked in and it looked good. We payed the $5 cover to enter. We got in, and even though it wasn't packed it was still a great time. The first group of girls we approached wanted to dance with us. We were 2, yet we still had all 3 girls dancing with us. We decide that the girls we are dancing with aren't the best quality in the places, we try to leave them and they try to follow us. We decide, fuck it, let's dance with them until we get an opprotunity. That we finally did, and eventually approached probably the 2 best looking girls in the club (At least I thought so, buddy had his eyes on another two). The girls agreed to dance with us, but it didn't go anywhere. Regardless, we had a great time at Mr. Chupito. I had actually gone to the little mini shot bar many times, but never realized there was a great discoteca owned by the same owners right next door. We ended up having a blast at Mr. Chuppito, even though we got no ass, the girls were friendly, and had we wanted it, we probably could have gotten it. We just realized we had so much more talent around us.

Moral of the story... It's hard for me to judge Las Palmas, because I feel like we didn't get to check everything out, but from what I did see, it's a waste of time.

As for Calle 33, if you are looking for young girls, like under 20, this is the place to be. It just wasn't my spot. Lots of seated groups as well.

Mr. Chupito is a fucking blast! Check it out. Wish we would have gone earlier. We arrived at 2:30am and it was still poppin'. To be honest, Lleras isn't as bad as I've read up on. I still have some places to check out, definitely Barrio Colombia sounds like one I need to see, but honestly, I've had a lot of fun in Lleras since I've been here. Obviously I'm still pretty green and have lots to learn, but this is my evaluation so far. Hope this could help you guys! I have some more to come, it's late and I can't add everything now, but I'll keep you updated, tomorrow should be interesting!

The " Full of tables and groups sitting there" setup describes 90% of the clubs in Medellin. Las Palmas is great, but many of them actually have a No-Gringo rule as well as many places in Barrio Colombia. However, you can get in if you talk them up. By the way, if you go to Barrio and you say you slayed like crazy at Fase 2, I'll laugh at you

There's a place that has a lot of horny women going there and has nice dancing too, but I can't remember the name off the top of my head. I'll post it here later.

It is always harder in another city because you have no idea where to go. And you don't know the best times to arrive.

In an American city, you can make optimal moves at each turn that will put you in front of the most girls at each time of night.

Agreed 100% G. I definitely learned that last night. But it was all good, we figured out where not to go so it will save me some time next weekend. I feel it is a million times easier to game at places like this over the seated group places. Another observation I've made is, in the places you have to pay to get in, if the place is good, they'll let you look inside before you pay. If it's not so poppin' they'll usually say no. At least that's what I got from the places I went. I can't confirm this 100% cause some of the places I didn't go into, but last night at Mr. Chupitos, the place was pretty cleared out and the bouncer told me I couldn't look in. I'd also have to assume the real high end places wouldn't let you because they probably simple don't care if you want to come in or not because they are already making money. But if it doesn't seem too poppin' and they won't let you take a look, chances are it's not worth it.

When I was in Medellin last September, I went out with a couple of girls who seemed to have only come out for free dinner and drinks, it got annoying because they didn't end up putting out beyond kissing at the club and my time/money would have been better spent on other girls.

Even though I didn't get the bang with a couple of those girls, I still like going out with Colombian girls, the dinner and a few drinks didn't really set me back too much (maybe spent $25-30 on them) but at least when you take a Colombian girl out you will get two things out of it: practicing your Spanish for a couple of hours and its easy to get them to go dancing so you'll also get some free salsa lessons/practice.

The same can't be said for girls here in Thailand, bad English and even worse dancing.

The place's name is not Luxury. I don't remember if it's either Forum or Fahrenheit, but both are real clubs in Medellin. Good luck!

Fahrenheit is the after hours club that's where Universal/Dollhouse was near the old Mangos. It's on the autopista going south. It starts filling up around 3/4am with some of the working girls from other clubs as well as couples. There are some good outside bars on 70 if you liked 33. The best after parties are when you go with a group to a finca in LLano Grande or Rio Negro. Paisas will continue partying well into the next day.
