That made me lol. I see where you're coming from. I'm definitely not gonna let that happen to me. Sure I'll buy a dinner and a couple drinks, but not every time, and maybe I'll pay for her bus or the metro, but fuck a cab if she lives far away. The first girl I met though, I offered her a drink and was surprised when she turned it down. For sure that was already the plan. I'm working on getting a couple in a rotation, then when I find a better one, or one pisses me off I'll get another and toss her to the curb. We'll see how it works out.
A couple more things I was just thinking about saying. Where I am in Poblado, it seems very safe. I've walked home alone at 3 am and 5 am. Colombia seems to be much safer than Brazil, though I suspect some areas of town are pretty dangerous, especially considering Medellin was ranked #14 most dangerous place in the world on this list by the business insider (I was a little surprised to see 4 cities in the US on there, Rio and Sao Paulo didn't even make the list, though I feel much safer here than in Rio): http://www.businessinsider.com/most-dang...2-10?op=1. I was in centro and during the day I was wearing gucci glasses and a watch and I was fine, but I think at night it wouldn't be the safest place. In Brazil though, I would never consider walking more than 3 blocks alone after 10 or 11 pm in most areas of most cities.
Another thing, I haven't really figured out how much it costs to call here. I filled up my phone with about US$15 and haven't had to refill it yet after about 5 days. The phone I got however was mad cheap, about $20. It's a peice of crap. I have an iPhone but didn't want to go through the trouble of figuring out how to get it working here, plus I don't want it to get stolen either. A couple people have told me they really like stealing iPhones here. For a good deal on a phone go to centro. There's a spot called "Opera." Check it out, it's just a huge area with a ton of cell phone stores. It's a $5 ride from poblado. I suspect phones in Poblado might be a little more on the pricey side, but I'm not sure.

Since arriving here on Thursday Medellin has exceeded my expectations. But because of all the talk about "sex tourism" going on in Medellin lately, my expectations were not that high in the first place.
I've been staying in a nice apartment up in Poblado with some local entrepreneur guys. I really only planned on passing through on my way to Cali, which is where I lived for awhile in 2010.
Everything I say is from the perspective of a 6' 1'' European-American guy who speaks some Spanish, has been around Latin-America, and has always been connected to Latino communities in the US.
Impression of the city so far:
- People are nice, and have a optimistic attitude about their city and the general trajectory of Colombia. A lot of olive skinned Latinos with sharp features, but there are some other more Mestizo and Mulatto looking people as well.
- The city is seeing a lot of economic development and attention from investors lately.
- Chicks on average are pretty, fashionable and take good care of themselves.
In the day:
In comparison to the chicks walking around during day in Manhattan, girls (people) in Medellin walk around at a slower pace, with a kinder, more relaxed look on their faces. They have less of a problem to stop and have a conversation.
At night:
A lot of mixed sets sitting at tables. If you have your game together, chicks will talk to you, but you have to have a certain social finesse with the dudes who will likely be with them. This is probably not news to anyone reading this.
A Note On Style:
Flocks of "fly by night" gringos hunting for sex and adventure while wearing shorts and flip-flops are a running joke with the locals. If I was a local, I would be prejudiced against their asses too.
Based on my personal experience, a foreigner could still get a lot of positive attention here, if his style is:
A clean, urban type look - especially in the daytime and for younger cats -

Because I'm seeing better business and personal development opportunities for me here than in Cali, I'm strongly considering living here for now.
The understandable prejudice against foreigners was a strong deterrent to me before arriving, but I don't feel it giving me too much of a problem. Even better if decide to stay here.

But you know what's weird? I've been living here all my life and I have never scored with Colombian women. It surprised me that so many members and people over the world regard Medellin as a poosy paradise, whereas for me I need to get as far as possible from here to do anything.I always thought of this city as a shitty wasteland, to be honest.

It is inevitable that you will run into and eventually date poorer chicks in Colombia....you try to avoid the neediest chicks as much as possible...I personally never date women with children.
But at some point it will dawn on you that you are banging a super hot woman in her early 20's that has never held a full time job in her entire life and almost every single thing she has ever gotten in her life was given to her by someone else...parents....boyfriends, etc.
So it isn't as hard as one might suspect for her to ask for shit if she is banging you on demand.....but you don't run if she is hot and good in bed.

I never do dinner dates in Colombia with a woman that I have never banged before...lowest ROI possible and I would never date a woman that I actually though for a second was actually hungry ( as in didn't have enough to eat as home). So a little update:
About my living situation... Turns out the old lady, "Delores Claiborne" was a raging alcoholic (We later came to find out glue sniffer as well) and was also about 2 weeks past due paying her rent. The older guy we're living with caught her steeling his booze numerous times. I came home the other night and she had puked all over the bathroom. That was the last straw. The next day the owner told the property management guy to come by and kick her out. He came over, but his eviction wasn't very successful. She didn't want to leave, she wanted one more day. The owner decided it was best to give her one more day considering she was drunk when they tried evicting her. Basically that night was a repeat of the night before. She was throwing up all night, not quit as much as a mess as the first night though, at least in the bathroom. Her room was full of vomit, thank god I didn't have to deal with that. Thankfully we woke up this morning and she was gone. But she did leave behind her glue. What a strange choice of drug when you're in Colombia, land of cocaine.
So now it's just the old dude and the Hungarian kid. Old dude is still cool. I came to find out a good portion of his girls are pre-pagado, and he also likes his whores. It's hilarious how he brags about them like he isn't paying for them. "Look at this one I got!" Yeeeaaahhhh.... sure bud. But it's whatever, to each his own. The Hungarian kid, holy shit does he get on my nerves. It seems like he hasn't left his moms house until just now. He's 31 and can not for the life of him figure a damn thing out on his own. I'm about to tell him he has a limit of 10 questions he's allowed to ask a day. That's almost all he does when he talks, is ask questions. He asked how to make chicken, at 31 years old! When he's not asking questions, he's complaining about something, whether it be the food, how flakey the girls are, or how he doesn't want to spend $12 on dinner. Today we were down town and we told him an area was dangerous. His response, "Why is it dangerous?" Are you fucking kidding me?! I'll tell you what, go walk down the street with your wallet in your hand, you'll see why it's dangerous. The old mans response was, "It's just dangerous, what the hell else is there to know?!" I'm cutting him off from going out with me at night as I'm afraid he'll actually cause me to loose women. He's just so strange. His movements make you feel uncomfortable, he's super stiff and awkward, just very timid in general. He doesn't grasp the concept of personal space. He won't look you in the eyes while talking to you. His accent is horrendous and he talks so damn soft with such little confidence, it's hard to understand him (Though that's easier to look past because I'm sure I have a pretty bad accent in Spanish), I always have to repeat myself 3 times because he doesn't understand a damn thing I'm saying. And every time he opens his mouth I want to back hand him. After all his talk about how easy the girls in Colombia will be, he started picking up hookers into his 3rd day here when he realized that Colombian girls are just as hard to pick up as Hungarian girls probably are, and when you have 0 game, it's pretty damn hard. He's been to the whore house 2 days in a row. He had one girl he was talking to and I told him to take her out. He said, "It's cheaper to just go get a hooker. I spent COP$100 on my last date." I am definitely starting to see the flakiness that many have talked about. But it just means you have to approach more. So far I've been getting lazy with my approaching game because I'm getting so many responses online, I'm having to spend a lot of time weeding these girls out trying to figure out which ones are most likely gonna bang me. I'm gonna start going harder though in the next couple days. I've been going real hard on online game, but I realize I need to start approaching more. I'm good about it at night when I go out, but I need to step up my day game. I'm finding I get a lot more looks in the centro area than I do in Poblado. The quality isn't as high, but it seems like the number of girls interested is much higher and there still is some good talent. Not to mention there are just WAAAYYY more people walking around in centro period. In the next couple days I'm gonna make my way over there and hit the streets. I'm also a little rusty after just getting out of a 7 month relationship. My rule was to only cheat if the girl came on to me, I told myself I wouldn't go out of my way to come on to them. I did however break the rule a couple times when the situation seemed appropriate. But I can feel a bang very close. I have 4 I'm going hard on right now, and at least 2 seem very DTF.
I'm going hard on Spanish as well. Unless I'm talking to an American, I'm only trying to speak in Spanish. When Colombians talk to me in English, I almost always respond in Spanish, unless their English is really good, then I just feel dumb trying to speak to them in my broken Spanish. I'm also not trying to find girls that Speak English on the dating website. In fact I almost try and avoid it. From what I can remember, and I just posted this in another thread, Spanish seems a bit harder to learn for me than Portguese. Maybe that that's because I don't remember how hard learning Portuguese really was now that I already have my vocab built up. One nice thing though is a lot of people familiar with Portuguese ask if I'm Brazilian because they say I have a Portuguese accent. I like that over sounding like a lot of the American gringos I'm hearing speak. Hearing the old dude speak cracks me up. He makes no effort in putting any sort of a spanish sound to any of his words. He just pronounces them as if he is speaking English, only using spanish words. Here though, you can get by in English, but it's obviously gonna cut your options down by a lot. I'd say maybe 30% of people I run into speak English, and that's a generous estimate, and that's also Poblado, other areas the number of people who speak is just gonna go down from Poblado.
Overall, I'm liking it a lot here. I met up with a couple dudes from the forum, and they are some cool guys. The two fellas I was hanging with last week are both gone, one is coming back next month though. It's a shame, they were good wing men. I have a couple cats coming out in a couple weeks that I met in Aspen, from Miami, that happen to supposedly be mad hooked up out here. That should be interesting. I also have a local I still have to meet up with. I think I mentioned it somewhere in this thread, but a friend of mines husband lives down here. They are in the process of getting divorced, though are still friends, he grew up in Medellin. I tried calling him and got no answer, probably didn't recognize the number. I'll have to try again in the next day or two. I have a package random stuff to give him from his girl.

Added: Something funny I just remembered. So the old dude is flying one of his girls out from Bogota. He doesn't pay her, he just buys her ticket. I've been having to talk to her on the phone because she doesn't speak English and he doesn't speak much Spanish at all. Today she told me she had a real cute friend that wanted to come out, but said she didn't have money for the ticket. She was trying to get me to buy her friend a ticket. I said no way! I told her maybe the Hungarian dude would be interested. The sucker told her to send a pick, we're still waiting on it.
About my living situation... Turns out the old lady, "Delores Claiborne" was a raging alcoholic (We later came to find out glue sniffer as well) and was also about 2 weeks past due paying her rent. The older guy we're living with caught her steeling his booze numerous times. I came home the other night and she had puked all over the bathroom. That was the last straw. The next day the owner told the property management guy to come by and kick her out. He came over, but his eviction wasn't very successful. She didn't want to leave, she wanted one more day. The owner decided it was best to give her one more day considering she was drunk when they tried evicting her. Basically that night was a repeat of the night before. She was throwing up all night, not quit as much as a mess as the first night though, at least in the bathroom. Her room was full of vomit, thank god I didn't have to deal with that. Thankfully we woke up this morning and she was gone. But she did leave behind her glue. What a strange choice of drug when you're in Colombia, land of cocaine.
So now it's just the old dude and the Hungarian kid. Old dude is still cool. I came to find out a good portion of his girls are pre-pagado, and he also likes his whores. It's hilarious how he brags about them like he isn't paying for them. "Look at this one I got!" Yeeeaaahhhh.... sure bud. But it's whatever, to each his own. The Hungarian kid, holy shit does he get on my nerves. It seems like he hasn't left his moms house until just now. He's 31 and can not for the life of him figure a damn thing out on his own. I'm about to tell him he has a limit of 10 questions he's allowed to ask a day. That's almost all he does when he talks, is ask questions. He asked how to make chicken, at 31 years old! When he's not asking questions, he's complaining about something, whether it be the food, how flakey the girls are, or how he doesn't want to spend $12 on dinner. Today we were down town and we told him an area was dangerous. His response, "Why is it dangerous?" Are you fucking kidding me?! I'll tell you what, go walk down the street with your wallet in your hand, you'll see why it's dangerous. The old mans response was, "It's just dangerous, what the hell else is there to know?!" I'm cutting him off from going out with me at night as I'm afraid he'll actually cause me to loose women. He's just so strange. His movements make you feel uncomfortable, he's super stiff and awkward, just very timid in general. He doesn't grasp the concept of personal space. He won't look you in the eyes while talking to you. His accent is horrendous and he talks so damn soft with such little confidence, it's hard to understand him (Though that's easier to look past because I'm sure I have a pretty bad accent in Spanish), I always have to repeat myself 3 times because he doesn't understand a damn thing I'm saying. And every time he opens his mouth I want to back hand him. After all his talk about how easy the girls in Colombia will be, he started picking up hookers into his 3rd day here when he realized that Colombian girls are just as hard to pick up as Hungarian girls probably are, and when you have 0 game, it's pretty damn hard. He's been to the whore house 2 days in a row. He had one girl he was talking to and I told him to take her out. He said, "It's cheaper to just go get a hooker. I spent COP$100 on my last date." I was thinking about checking out compartoapto, which is a super cheap site, basically airbnb, but Colombian prices rather than gringo. But now I'm thinking I'll just stay in this place. It's a real nice place and perfect location. I was thinking about it and even though I would save $20 a day if I live in another area and crappier pad, I'll still be spending $10 getting around in taxis each day, may as well just stay in the nice apt and spend the extra $10.
