Good Post BigBootyLover...I feel you on the online gaming and I do it as well since I'm always there for a short amount of time and like to have something lined up before I land. Also since you were there for 6 weeks I know you have the lowdown on good spots to hit so with that said...BRING ON THE FRESH DATA SHEETS!
Well, my general opinion of Medellin- it is still a gold mine. I hear people bitching (gringos in medellin) that there are now too many gringos there. Not true. My wing and I went to El centro and we were the ONLY gringos there. Period. Sabaneta, same thing. But we'll get to that in a minute. I stay in Oviedo or near parque lleras due to the convenience and "holy shit" factor some girls give me when they see the apartments I rent. I don't mess with hostels or hotels. I get apartments. yeah, you'll pay a bit more, but who cares? if you are there for 5 days go for the gold and rent a luxury apartment for 125 a night. It will pay off when you bring back chicas to your pad.
Security- I had a flip share and ipod stolen from my apartment. Whether it was from some chicas I had over, the maid, etc i'll never know. Lock everything up in your safe, especially passport, documents and any and all electronics.
Wing men- a wing man is a wise idea from a security standpoint and for club pickups, but not for day game. Go solo for day game. Hit up the malls and try out your spanish. I had one friend who played the "Lost idiot gringo tourist" schtick. He literally carried around a spanish phrase book in the mall and would make the sales girls wait while he tried out spanish on them. They'd laugh, he'd laugh, and then he'd ask them to show him around sometime. He'd number close and he used this same gimmick the entire trip. It worked. The only spanish he knows is what he learned at del taco. The guy doesn't care to learn it either. He just uses his stupid phrase book and the women just love it. I like cocky/funny routines and using bad spanish on them to get a laugh. Smile alot and joke. Don't come off as the "cold gringo". My spanish can best be described as a methed up mexican meets tatu from fantasy island. It sounds ridiculous (and it is) but they get a kick out of it. A group of girls said they "loved our accents". So talk more and put yourself out there. Or as my local wing who married a colombiana said: "YOU have to engage more!" Engage, be flirty, and smile.
DO tell them you come to Medellin often for business. Have a good cover story. You are far more likely to get the booty if they think you are a long term resource. If you are too young to pull off the "here for business" story, tell them you wanted to learn spanish and you vacationed in medellin once and just loved it.
Parque lleras is still okay, but it really isn't a pickup spot IMO. People know it is a gringo land, and the local crowd is really really young. As in 17-22-ish. Think freshman in college. Now I can still swing it being in my 30's and looking late twenties, but I feel somewhat awkward hanging around the younger crowd. I have pulled chicks from Parque lleras, but it is more of a spot for pre-game drinks and dinner than actual clubbing or pickups. Thursdays are good at club red in parque lleras, although sometimes it is hit or miss and the local men won't exactly be excited you are there. Tip the bartenders well and you'll be taken care of. I met a smoking hot chick and got the tongue down and number close. she was with her cock blocking friend so no chance for an F close, although i'm certain I would have gotten it. Thaico is good on sunday nights and has 3 for 1 drinks. Not every sunday is good, but when it's hot, it's hot.
One thing that I thought was sad is that I was eating at a steakhouse and saw two jersey guidos jump out of a cab. 5'6 white boy 200 lbs roided up, spray tan, spiked blow out, and tight shirt on being all loud and obnoxious. It was right then and there I knew i'd need to find alternatives since now the spring break kids would be coming in...
Barrio colombia- This district is pretty good, although I was denied entry to Trilogy for being a gringo. I was by myself (probably shouldn't have done this), and the door man said "NO" and put his arms and legs against the door frame. I calmly asked "Por que?" He just repeated himself "NO". I wasn't drunk, i'm dressed well, i'm in shape, and I don't see what the problem was other than the fact I was a gringo. I know for sure they weren't full because there was a drug checkpoint in barrio colombia that night and the place was empty. That is the second club in Medellin i've been denied entry to. The first, on calle 33 wouldn't let my friend and I in, and a local told us the next day it was more than likely because of a gang dispute brewing inside that we'd surely set off if we got in.
I did notice some 'gringo backlash' this trip from the local men. Something to keep in mind as more and more gringos hear about Medellin that there may be some tension there. Think about it- in walks charming gringo with pockets full of money and blue jeans and a shirt on that cost more than the average workers monthly salary. Not only do the women see us as "romantic" and "good husbands and boyfriends" the men know that we are incoming competition. Needless to say I didn't make many friends with the colombian men.
Laureles- I only hung out here once, but it is gringo-free for the most part. My good friend and wing rents an apartment in a neighborhood here and absolutely loves how down to earth the women and the people are. He swears by it. It is also half the price of poblado. 8,000 cop cab ride ($4) to parque lleras according to my friend. I may try renting a spot here one day.
Sabaneta- apparently there are a few bars where hordes of milfs frequent in sabaneta, although I didn't get to try them out when I was there. I went there once and had a blast at some cowboy themed bar (corone bar? sp?). Sabaneta is about 20 minutes away, but I think it could be a good untapped resource for me in the future as i'd like to try out the 30-45 year old milf set.
EL Centro- to be quite honest, this is NOT a safe area. My friend and I who are both over 200 lbs and jacked didn't feel safe walking around- during daylight hours. That said, I often hear gringos talking about the street game and the cheap girls. First off, I could barely whip my dick out to pee in this district it was so nasty, let alone even think about banging one of the prepagos of questionable age. My wing man and I went in a beer bar (mind you this is in the day time) and i went to take a piss. Next thing I know there are three shady dudes standing behind me and one tried to touch my shoulder when i was pissing in this dank, nasty bathroom. I growled at them to GET THE FUCK BACK and they knew I meant business. They backed off and I went back out to the table with my buddy and let him know something's up. Next thing I know the bar owner lowers the lights and turns up the music. In walk some nasty prepagos.
We deducted they were either angling to rob us somehow, or get the prepagos to do some dirt. Keep in mind it is daylight out. We slammed our beers and left quickly. El centro has some interesting shopping, but the promoter boys selling jeans chasing you down the block pestering you to buy their crap quality jeans really gets annoying quick. The clothing I purchased there fell apart after a few washings. The shoes and bags are good (that sounded gay) and it is fun haggling with the locals. It is fun going to a beer bar by the metro and watching the foot traffic go by. Great people watching. For sure bring a wing man, and stay alert. I wouldn't go down there at night unless I had 5 dudes with me, as in guys that train with me that I know are legit tough and could handle being robbed or jumped. That said, I wouldn't go down there at night. It just isn't worth it to save a few bucks on a beer to risk getting drugged, robbed, or mugged.
Mangos- yeah, mangos is a gringo trap, but i've also had some of the best times in Medellin at this place, and my boy and I were picking up chicks just standing around in the parking lot. Think of where girls would want to go if they want a gringo novio. Where the gringos go! that is why I pick mangos as a pretty good spot to pick up women. Here is the second reason; The gringos there are 50+, out of shape, and usually tied up with prepagos they brought. If you are in shape and dress sharp you can pull tail in here. A little spanish and a little dancing. Bring friends or a few local girls or at least one wing man or you may look a bit awkward. Just don't fuck with the ornary little midget in the parking lot who runs security there. He's a mean little fucker. Use your local chicas as wing women and get a bottle for your table. Dance a bit, make eye contact, and engage. The guys who bag on mangos are the ones who should have been in mangos 20 years ago doing what they are doing now. Lately, mangos has been hit or miss. Sometimes it is packed, othertimes there are 50 people there. Check with locals on good nights to go.
Cell phones- this is a must. Get a local cell. It will cost you about $70, but it will be well worth it as you will have it on future trips. My phone is packed with so many numbers I couldn't possibly ever call or see them all. Just not enough time or resources. Colombian women have this trick where they'll call your cell and let it ring half a ring, then hang up. This is so you can see they called, and also so they don't waste any of THEIR minutes calling you. I find this cute, and also a tool used to play games with them.
flaky women- Colombian women are notoriously flaky. Turn the tables on them; turn on the charm, then turn cold. When they do the "half cell phone ring" trick, simply ignore it. They'll do it more. Ignore it. finally, two hours later or the next day call them back. They might act pissed, but you have to fuck with their heads or they'll be fucking with yours. Remember, all the rules you know in america don't count anymore.
