I'm fuckin struggling here in Cali. I love the girls here but i'm on the verge of giving up. It sucks when you don't speak decent Spanish or can dance some decent salsa. I went out a few times now and got instantly depressed. Some of the hottest girls ever and i cant do a damn thing.
Tonight i went to a big club called Manga Biche. It supposed to be the best place in town according to hotel staff here.
I paid 6 dollars to get in and saw a big dance floor with tables around it. All the tables were reserved for groups. Everyone was sitting down and all the groups were mixed.
The bar staff gave me a hard time getting a drink, they said they didn't have beer while the fridge was clearly full. They tried to get me to buy a bottle of booze. Since i'm alone there i'm not gonna do that.
When i finally had a Corona they asked 15000p for it which is about 8 dollar. A lot for south America.
I didn't dare to ask a girl for a dance because most guys looked angry at me.
Another thing : Where in almost every country in the world i can flirt a lot, here in Colombia it looks like i suddenly turned into a freakin monster when i crossed the border. No eye contact, flirting . NOTHING !!
Im blond, fairly good looking,well dressed and 6.3 feet tall. Normally i get lots of attention but here NOTHING. Everywhere i go : malls, bars , clubs . I'm the only foreigner and girls just don't give a damn.

Luckily for me i kissed a hot Colombian girl while in Quito/Ecuador and yesterday lots with a hot 20year old Colombian girl i met on Couchsurfing. I totally seduced her within the hour with my conversation tricks. She speaks fluent English because of living 7 years in the US. Everything i said worked as normal. Couldn't pull her back to the hotel though but i will try again with her. I don't have to feel like a total loser now.



I have no intention ever coming back to Colombia without speaking the language fluent and having taken lots of salsa lessons.

Some words of advice.

I wouldnt recommend going to those type clubs alone, esp with no spanish and salsa skills.

Focus on the reggeatton places with the younger less snoby crowd.

Im pretty sure you will see a night and day difference.........

I've already mentioned to the forum that at MINIMUM, intermediate-advanced Spanish skills are required in any city of Colombia. You must also do 90% day game!

If you don't speak Spanish, you will have work 5x harder than the foreigner who does; even if you look like Brad Pitt. To Colombians, you'll just be labeled a sex tourist who looks like Brad Pitt if you have No social circle, no spanish skills and even worse if you are staying in.a hotel or hostel!

Colombian women have adapted the same gringo sex tourist shields that the Ukraine or Polish women have.



The gringo novelty you enjoyed in 1996 without speaking a single spanish word is LOOOOONG GONE!!

Women are not as nearly impressed as they were or Naive.

Also, you picked Cali out of all places. The most boring of tier 1 Colombian cities.

The only gringos killing it in Colombia in 2011 are the ones that speak intermediate-advanced Spanish.

Thanks for the advice guys, I was also told i would do lots better in places like Bogota and Medellin because there a less obvious salsa scene. My Spanish is bad though, i can make a short convo but get stuck after asking the dork questions like : whats your name, where do you come from and what work do you do etc etc.
i just dont have the time to visit those places because of my tight schedule.

I can bang my head to the wall for not starting to learn spanish earlier in my trip and more fanatic. Its just because i managed ok without it so far in countries like argentina,chile,bolivia,peru and ecuador. I always met english speaking girls, mostly with couchsurfing.

Before going to the club yesterday, i met up with another couch surfer who spoke decent english but she brought her sister and brother in law. She was shy also. I left them with an excuse so i could go to the club. I had high hopes of this place but it was like crashing a wedding. There was not even a bar to sit on. just reserved tables.

I think my best bet now is to stay put and try to get with the 20year old. She lived in the states for 7 years so she's more used to the one night stand culture i guess. Other wise it would be the first country in South America where im not succesfull but learned some hard lessons : Never be unprepared and push yourself more out of the comfort zone.

Strange, i find it extremely difficult to find a place where its not salsa music all night. All the venues i visit or walk past, i hear salsa music only, with an occasional reggaeton beat once every hour.

Yep. i clearly made the mistake of going here. And now i don't have the time to go to Medellin or Bogota.

Yes, i thought the same but so far i asked around and haven't heard of a club like that so far. i asked 6 different people and none of them know a place like that. I'll keep trying.

There most be a sort of americanzed club around playing Gaga and black eyed peas or at least lots of reggeaton. I've been to clubs like that all over south america.

Thanks for the advice and encouragement . I know i'm overreacting but i had my mind set on flagging every country in South America so i need to get this one also. Its extra bad because i had many opportunities to learn both Spanish and salsa to a good level but i didn't. writing on two blogs and forums really takes up a lot of time and i got focused on that more than other stuff.

Also because i didn't need Spanish in most countries i visited.

I just set up a date at 19.00 tonight, she speaks good English so things will be far easier. Another lottery ticket.

Well, i assume you have lots more game than me. I improved myself massively over the last 2 years but was a regular Joe before.

If i would speak fluent spanish , for sure i would already had gotten my bang. There was a hot women on the bus to Cali who definitely wanted me, touched me all the time in the bus. Hi all, this is my first post here and I wanted to tell you that I live in Ibague (6 hours away from Cali) and I can tell you right away that a lot of the women you can meet online will be after your money or the security of a long term relationship (I think that has been mentioned already and just wanted to confirm).
However, to "practice" is not a bad idea to buy them lunch once in a while and see what you can extract from it. I think being so obsessed with fucking them or not actually takes away from fun and the idea of being a man who has a fullfilling life.
