Damn LA is expensive. Do the prices drop down once you leave the "hip" areas? I thought Echo Park was a gang area? My boy keeps on telling me to go visit him out there. He's born and raised in LA and lives somewhere on the eastside. He's a rocker dude with tattoos and could hopefully get me in the circle
I've seen the talent on Facebook.
Everyone I know, including him, says its like a bigger version of Houston. Big, dirty, spread out, traffic, ugly, all kinds of people. I wouldn't mind living there for a year or 2 just to soak it in if that's true. I love big, dirty cities that are spread out like a maze.
I meant to reply to this earlier but forgot. I've heard the Houston/L.A. comparison before. I think in some ways it's probably true and in others ways not. I think if you moved L.A. into the middle of country where there were no beaches, mountains and nice weather, it would probably be very similar-looking to Houston. I've never actually been to Houston, but flown in a few times and seen what it looks like from the plane and I do think it's kinda similar because of the small skyline(compared with places like Chicago and NYC), freeways and massive suburban sprawl. Part of the big draw of L.A. isn't even the city itself, but the location being close to the beaches and mountains and having perfect weather. And no offense, but California is just a much cooler state than Texas, there's no comparison.
Where I would say there is a major difference in cities is that Houston doesn't really seem to be known for anything. L.A. is just more of an iconic city than Houston will every be. For example there's tons of world-famous bands, rappers and musicians that hail from L.A. But Houston? I can't think of one well-known band from there. And we have neighborhoods that are known all over the world, Bel Aire, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, The LBC(thanks to Snoop), Venice Beach, etc. Nobody knows of any neighborhoods in Houston unless they are from Houston. And I'm sure there's just much more of a "soul" to L.A. than Houston, because there's a large creative population and lots of trend-setters in music, arts, fashion, film and such.
If you like Houston, then I'm sure you'd love it here way more.

Now a question for you...what up with the girls down in Texas? I hear a lot of mixed things. Some say Texas has a ton of hotties, then I've heard there are lots of fatties too. When I think of Texas girls I always have the image of the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, though I know that's not representative. But I can't help but associate Texas girls with sexy chics wearing daisy dukes and cowboy hats and boots.
LA and California just got
really lucky with the entertainment industry. I don't think it would be such a cool state if the hype was never there and the industry never set up shop there. That's the only reason the neighborhoods and everything else is well known. Hell, I know all about the state from music and movies and never even been there. Don't forget about the high ass cost of living you need to pay to enjoy that pretty state though. I'm living very comfortable for someone my age but would be struggling out there with a hoopty and apartment with roommates.

This ties into the entertainment industry being there. I don't really think ANY city can be on that level except New York. Houston will NEVER have a huge population full of those people aka liberals and hipsters which I'm kind of happy about. It's a blue collar, dirty city where someone riding a bike would probably get run over by a drunk driver who flees the scene. Houston rap scene is better than LA's though...most of the west coast rappers I like ain't even from there.
All in all though, I would bet that California and Texas are the best states out there. Maybe Florida (excluding Miami and New York City but that's just a city) can be added to the list. Ain't no one else coming close to what we have. I can't wait to actually see LA for myself and maybe some other California cities. Give them a taste of this big Texas dick

Dallas and Austin have better white girls than Houston. Houston, SA and the higher Hispanic populated cities will have better Latinas. There's sexy black girls all over the state. Yeah, there's some of those cowboy boots and hats girls but you will have to act extremely white (token black guy) or be an actual black cowboy type of guy if they're serious about it and not just faking the funk. There's a lot of "wannabe cowgirls" if that makes sense. I see good looking girls all the time but also a good amount of fatties. like Texas Prophet said, you have to catch them when they're young because a lot of them get fat as they get older.
