Love that pistol. You cannot go wrong with a Browning Hi Power for durability IMO.

I own a gun or 12. My daily carry is a Glock 19 loaded with Federal HST 147s. I’ve got another 19 as a spare, both with night sights. I’ve got a Beretta 92fs, too big to carry out in public but a smooth-shooting weapon that once upon a time was the toast of Hollywood.

A few AR and AKM variants, what I call my politically incorrect rifles. One of my AKs is the Hungarian AMD with the folding stock and fat muzzle brake. She’s a nasty little girl and with 20-round mags makes for a very compact piece of firepower.

I’ve got some older milsurp rifles, including a Swiss straight pull K31 and a a Finnish Mosin Nagant (tribute to that most badass of men, legendary Commie killer Simo Hayha). Also have a Russian sks which is a joy to shoot.

A few 22s which are great for plinking and target shooting. There are few things better in life than wasting away an afternoon drinking a cold beer and shooting 22s.

Ammo. You gotta have ammo, right? I’ve got enough to invade Poland. And I have some land out in the country where I do my shooting cause I hate public ranges. I shoot on steel too, 12x12 3/8” thick plates that’ll stop anything short of a 50 cal.

Mostly I shoot my 22s just cause they’re fun and not loud, and my Glock because it’s what I carry and in a self defense situation it’s most likely all I’ll have. Shooting a handgun well, from concealment and under stress, is not easy and takes continual practice.

I prefer buying a cheap AR15 build that is quality (PSA freedom upper/lowers) then just customize it to your liking and what you plan to use it for. Me personally, I train and do competitions. So I have a .5moa solar powered holosun optic(gives 50,000+ hour battery life with the solar power addition)/YHF barrel 16"/CMC trigger/shoulder brace that flips to the side (yes its NFA legal) and a few more things also my pistol of course is a Walther PPQ (they have one of the best triggers stock out of almost ever pistol I've owned). I've spent all the way from $200 to $1300 on different kinds of pistols and I found the one that meets my needs at around $400-$500 depending where you buy and model of it. I also carry it daily which is a BIG responsibility. Always remember especially in this PC culture bullshit that the firearm is the VERY VERY last resort. Always de-esculate a situation with words then if you must use hands/legs do so then if you're life is threatened by another weapon or your being attacked by a group of people then defend yourself accordingly (I'm not a lawyer so don't take my advice as one). I rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6 (but if you do get judged by 12, expect a huge financial burden unless its pretty much a open/shut case hence they make insurance for things just like this too). Just adding my .02

Edit:If your looking to buy a AR15 trigger that has absolutely 0 take up and is as crisp as breaking a toothpick on the pull then take a look at CMC triggers. Only 3lb pull and about 0 reset distance so your shots will be on target more.

What gun safes/vaults do you all invest in? I'm currently on the market for one.

In America safes are everywhere. I bought my first one at a Home Depot like store called Menard's. My second safe I bought at Cabella's. Yes. I have two.

They have attractive prices, but even their most expensive gun safe only uses 12ga. steel. Not exactly heavy duty, but I'm sure that's how they keep their prices so low.

Yeah I'm trying to steer away from the big-box-store safes though as they are generally not very great quality. Typically use thin metal that can easily be compromised, and also usually have pretty significant door gaps that can be pried on, plus the locking mechanisms often times use flimsy parts that will give when they get pried on.

A Screwdriver is a banned weapon in England now? Whats next on the list, banning of Cricket bats, and golf clubs? Why not just skip a few steps and lobotomize the citizenry? Either that or give them PAX:

Read "This Perfect Day" by Ira Levin (author of Rosemary's Baby, The Boys From Brazil, The Stepford Wives, Sliver, etc.). One of my favorite science fiction books of all time. I own multiple copies of it and lend it to people.

Quote:Quote:

The world is managed by a central computer called UniComp which has been programmed to keep every single human on the surface of the earth in check. People are continually drugged by means of monthly treatments (delivered via transdermal spray or jet injector) so that they will remain satisfied and cooperative "Family members".

They are told where to live, when to eat, whom to marry, when to reproduce, and for which job they will be trained. Everyone is assigned a counselor who acts somewhat like a mentor, confessor, and parole agent; violations against 'brothers' and 'sisters' by themselves and others are expected to be reported at a weekly confession.

Everyone wears a permanent identifying bracelet which interfaces with access points that act as scanners which tell the "Family members" where they are allowed to go and what they are allowed to do. Around the age of 62, every person dies, presumably from an overdose of the treatment liquids . . . .

"Animal Farm" -- how to take power.

"1984" -- how to keep power through surveillance and brute force.

"This Perfect Day" -- how to maintain power through state-mandated drug treatments.

"The Weapon Shops of Isher" -- how to maintain liberty through superior technology, sidearms, and self-defense against the State:

Quote:Quote:

The Isher/Weapon Shops novels are very rare examples of Golden Age science fiction that explicitly discuss the right to keep and bear arms, specifically guns. Indeed, the motto of the Weapon Shops, repeated several times, is "The right to buy weapons is the right to be free". Van Vogt's guns have virtually magical properties, and can only be used in self-defense (or for suicide).

What do you want and how much money you got? There is plenty of choice.

It really depends on your goal: are you just trying to thwart a "smash and grab" or are you trying to thwart more professional thieves. There is a huge difference in the quality of different gun safes. At the very least, you want one that is impervious to a basic pry bar, which even low-level "smash and grab" thieves might carry. Ideally, also place the gun safe at the back of a deep closet where it is hidden from view.

Thanks for the links. I'm not as concerned with extreme fireproofing or bells-and-whistles features as I am plain-old theft deterrent. I'd like something with no frills that has 7ga. - 1/4" plate steel all the way around, with minimal door gap. Haven't really factored in budget as I've been convinced that no expense should be spared for keeping your precious valuables safe and secure. I guess I'm willing to pay what I have to.

In that case, http://www.graffundersafes.com/products/...eapon.html is for you. Their lower-range models start with 1/4" plate and go up to a full 1" plate. They can get heavy though.

Yeah I heard of Graffunder and was looking at them. I was thinking about Fort Knox as well since their mid-level safes have 1/4" doors and 3/16" walls (A36 steel) for half the price, and are built to order.

I prefer those hidden safes for firearms. What looks like a part of the wall that opens up and you just put them in and its completely hidden.
