Why I'm feeling so depressed when I back from Colombia

Every day I wake up and I'm not in Colombia, the first thought through my head is always the same. Goddamnit.

Why I'm feeling so depressed when I back from Colombia

While I understand where the OP is coming from and as I mentioned, I go through the same thing myself when I return home, I think that a lot of us here on RVF have a tendency to glorify some of these places and only focus on the positives and skim over the negatives. Yes, the women are hot and friendly but let's not forget that Colombia is still a dangerous, third world shit hole. I'm here in Canada hating the cold and the lack of fake asses but the customer service is great (I can get a burger in less than 30 minutes!), the gyms are awesome (people re-rack the weights and wipe off benches), the air is clean, the streets are safe and taxi drivers won't rob me.

Honestly, I get pretty stressed out in Colombia on a daily basis when I really shouldn't but there's a lot of little things that stress me out when I go down there as I mentioned above. Also, for the guys who live in the US and Europe, those place really aren't as bad as a lot of guys on here claim they are, even the women. For me, my ideal situation would be living in southern Florida full time and taking quick 1-2 weeks trips to the Caribbean or South America a few times each year then coming back to civilization, I'd go insane living in a third world country all year.

Also for the young guys on here, especially under 25, I wouldn't even consider chasing pussy in a third world dump until you're older, you guys have prime access to young pussy in your home country and as idiotic as some of those girls can be, they are still hot and like to get drunk and slut it up. I would take a college keg party full of drunk American skanks over your typical Colombian night club any day.

There's a ridiculous amount of latinas in Spain, specially if you know where to find them. There's plenty of latin clubs in every spanish city and girls there are certainly more friendly and open than your average spanish girl. Basically, if you're after latinas, Spain is your best option in Europe.

Regarding your "depression", use it as motivation to gtfo and find a way to move to Colombia. I'm sure this forum has tons of info to get you started. Good luck! [Image: banana.gif]

This is the outlook you need OP. Maybe you are just, in general, a negative person.

And don't bro me kid. We don't know each other and I was trying to be helpful to you. The guys who have been here a while can bro me all they want.

I'm younger than 25 and I disagree. Colombia is dope. Way better than freezing Canadian winter any day.

In Medellin I stayed at pretty awesome places, on the other hand in Canada I stayed at a place that many of my friends refuse to step inside (but hey it was cheap as fuck and let me save money while also being close to nightlife).

In terms of the stress, fuck it I grew up as a kid in a much bigger shithole third world country so Colombia isn't too bad and feels like a very nice place to me. And the warmer weather, better lifestyle, and the challenge of learning Spanish more than make for shitty customer service.

In terms of pussy.. that's a secondary factor. I can get laid here or in Colombia. Sure I can bang hotter girls in Colombia... but I can also go to Montreal where the girls are much sluttier than in Colombia as well. That's really not too big of a deal as compared to warm weather and lower cost of living.

The thing that gets me is the cold as fuck winters and the dark days. That's why I like to travel in the winter to warmer places.

I totally agree on the cold part, Canadians or anyone else that has to deal with -20 temperatures, snow and 4pm darkness should get the fuck out when they can.

Why I'm feeling so depressed when I back from Colombia

I feel better because I found in this forum a community with a great capacity for analysis and a rare intelligence

I really want to hanging out with some of you guys

As for me i just reconnect with a beautiful Calenas that i met in Paris a few months ago (before my first trip in Colombia) and she invited me to hanging out with her in Madrid (to be continued)

And i try to motivate myself for doing some day and night game with arrogant and unfriendly Parisian girl but it's hard

This desu. I don't consider a frozen shithole like Canada a good place to live. A place where you can't go out half of the year because how cold it is must be shit, especially if you like outdoors activities and you are amateur cyclist like me. Good places to live: Spain, Italy, Turkey, etc. Canada=Unliveable frozen shithole.

I live in a little city of northeastern Colombia in a lower middle class hood, it's fairly safe, mild climate all year, drinkable tap water, other public services are cheap and good enough (maybe internet could be much faster). I'm professional so I make decent enough monies (at least for Colombian standards), travel, etc.

I think scotian must be a huge hypocrite considering how much he talks shit on Colombia and Colombians and still lives here and is surrounded by Colombians. Please gtfo snow monkey, go be whoremonger elsewhere if you hate it here that much.

I can relate with Scotian on this. The first time I spent three months in Colombia, I was wild-eyed and smiled every second I was there. I couldn't understand why all the gringo expats complained about the Colombians all the time. I thought they were being unfair to a country I was enjoying so much.

But since then, I've seen what the hell they're talking about. I LOVE the country and Colombians VERY much. But Jesus they can make you want to strangle them sometimes. Just trying to buy more minutes on your phone or get lunch can make you see red.

Colombians are great people. I love them dearly. They can also be the laziest, most worthless, incompetent fucks you'll see anywhere. I'm torn about them. On the one hand, they're so much fun and such wonderful people. On the other hand, just goddamn.

I always say, "There's a reason Colombia doesn't have a space program or build airliners."

Perhaps that makes me a hypocrite regarding Colombia myself. I'll agree it likely doesn't make sense. But stay there long enough and you'll understand.

I'd say people in "Third World" countries, in general, aren't lazy. We don't have welfare state, and wages are shit, so it's normal here to work 10-12 hours/day on many professions. I don't know if you have noticed how many people in Bogota wake up at 4 am to commute to work; then after work and during the night they go to study or something like that, so they do'nt have freetime. Women with children have it especially harder. For one, Mexico, Chile and Costa Rica work more hours/year than any OECD country.

I shouldn't probably take the space program sentence very literally but the reason we don't have these is just that there hasn't been the political will nor the organization to have these. Brazil builds airliners, India has space program.

I meant it literally. When the Colombians can start figuring out how to deliver the mail, then perhaps they can advance up to engineering and science. I was just in another expat forum and one gringo said the running joke with his family is that he hasn't received one birthday or Christmas card in four years because apparently it's too difficult for the Colombians to figure out how to put that shit in his mailbox. I had my own ordeal with Fed Ex in Bogota. Fed Ex USA is a very professional company. Fed Ex Colombia is a bunch of retardeds.

As an older guy....

Some of this feedback is why I haven't ventured to Colombia yet and have been focusing on Mexico City. After about two weeks I get into a groove and my emotional state is actually better than back in the states as I don't stress out on the daily frustrations too much. I can do most of the stuff there that I do at home and the developing country retardation is lower than I have seen in south and central america (specifically Chile and Costa Rica). Actually, when at home I am driving everywhere which fucking stresses me out but in DF I walk or take Uber or subway which is less stressful to me.

Overall I do a lot better in the latin countries than at home, but with some hard work on my game I have had some recent successes, just none as good as what I get in the DF. I have a very young small town cutie coming over to my house (to the 'big' city) tomorrow night [Image: banana.gif]

The fact that they work so much is an indicator that Scotian and Brewdog are right. I love Colombia but my pet peeve is how people don't value their time and don't do anything efficiently.

I read this thread with great interest.

OP, I'm curious about what you do.
Are you an any sort of developer? I noticed that you are working in IT.
Then, you could find a remote developer job as long as you have solid skill sets and know how to market yourself by publishing mobile apps, having your own website, contributing to open source projects and so on (This is what I've been considering these days by the way, because I'm a programmer).
You can get a payment from a developed country, and enjoy your free time in an exotic environment with exotic girls.

I completely agree with this post, although I haven't been to Colombia yet.
Of course any man wants a sexy and friendly girl, but I don't think many men from a developed country can completely give up clean and secure life.

Man you guys gotta stop hitting the report button until I get a chance to reply to dickheads like that guy but now señor butt hurt is banned, so fuck him. I stand by my my analysis that Colombia is a third world dump, obviously I like place or I wouldn't keep going back, I've been writing rave reviews about the country for over five years now, the Colombian government should cut me a cheque, I'm probably one of the country's biggest boosters on the internet. Anyway, every country how its pros and cons and I don't think its a big deal to point out some minor annoyances, I actually think its constructive so first time travelers have a good idea about the place before they check it out.

As far as Canada being a frozen Siberian style shit hole for half the year, well yes I agree it is cold, it snowed 30 cms here the other night and we have another 20 on the way tomorrow. Of course, you can't ride a bicycle here in the snow (what a gay sport anyway) but we do have awesome winter activities like snow boarding, snow shoeing, ice fishing pond hockey, or my personal favourite: getting stoned and shooting your friends with roman candles from a drone while they run around half naked on a frozen lake!!!

Goddamn that thing is accurate. The US Airforce should use these so they can better shoot whichever school or hospital they're trying to hit.
