In my experience, yes, absolutely. I went on a spate of dates after moving back to Germany in July and noticed that the vibe during the date went noticeably off beat as soon as I segued into discussing philosophical questions. In fact, I've vowed to keep stumm from now on, even if I feel like chipping in with a comment that might be deemed "intellectual", lest the date goes tits up yet again.

Can't wait to see WIA's input.

In the mean time, I'm going to say that in general, the answer is no.

However if you can convey your intellect in a non nerdy, and more importantly, non try-hard way, it can help build up your mystique if you've already established an attraction.

This thread is useless without examples. Intellectual discussion about 50 shades of grey?

99 percent of the time, no. You will never get laid dropping quotes from Socrates. Girls will think you are a try hard who is trying to sound smart to impress them.

It only works in certain situations if your vibe/personality is fun/cocky/outgoing.

For example, I have a very crude/immature sense of humor.

So it works for me to randomly drop a really intelligent statement after attraction is built. If politics comes up, I may drop an obscure geopolitical reference, then bring the conversation back to something fun and lighthearted so we don't end up in a political conversation.

Girls put guys in boxes. If she already thinks I'm a fun, douchey bro and I drop something that completely contradicts that label, she's going to be intrigued.

It's rare I need to do this, but sometimes it comes up naturally and I've seen success with it.

But as a newbie, you would most likely fuck this up royally. Keep it fun and light.

Yes it can turn, if she is your girl or wife only.

Definately. Politics not in my experiencre, but deep topics involving human interaction and psychology can be great ways to show your maturity and read her.

Especially young girls with daddy issues.

If she steers the conversation in that direction, it can be. Alternate between staring/gazing in her eyes and on her boobs (you will do this anyway) during your conversation. Bang her good.

I think a lot of it depends on the individual girl, her interests and background. I've been on dates before where we've gone to a museum, entered into deep discussion regarding whatever the museum caters to, then gone home and smashed. Some women have a deep interest in Philosophy, History, Literature, Horoscopes etc... and if you discuss it in a masculine way, having your facial expressions, delivery and body language on point then I believe that intellectual discussuon, while only used as a supplement alongside what is preached here, can turn a women on.

In certain situations, yes -- but only if you're reinforcing an attractive aspect of your persona.

For example, a PhD student explaining a nuance of his research project is really just demonstrating his social value and personal passion under the guise of intellectual conversation. That's attractive.

Now, take the same explanation and give it in a bar to a girl who knows you work as an insurance salesman. That's unattractive.

EDIT: also, a lot of girls are intellectual too, but they aren't usually the ones spending substantial time and energy trying to be hot and meeting guys. So you have some selection bias there, since the girls who are more intellectual are generally busier or more reclusive.

No, intellectual conversation rarely turns women on. Faux intellectualism and pop psychology, however, is a different matter altogether. Women fap to that. In their world Germaine Greer is on a higher plateau than Aristotle.

The best "fuck me" look a girl has ever given me, the image of which is seared into my mind as one of my more treasured memories, came when I was giving a lengthy speech to a Latina about assimilating scientific knowledge with the teachings of the Catholic Church.

5 minutes later her clothes came flying off, and many a "papi" and "asi" were heard that night.

So yes, it can be done.

Maybe occasionally. One girl I banged, who claimed to be a socialist, went nuts when I explained to her the many failings of socialism. Banged her probably an hour later. That one may have been more a result of my capitalist confidence and willingness to tell her she was wrong, though.

Another girl told me she "loved how my mind works" after I quickly deduced some philosophical bullshit I don't even remember. Got that bang, too, but it may have simply been that she likes reasonably intelligent men rather than the topic itself.

Ever? Yes. But only to a very, very, very tiny minority of women, while nearly all women would claim it does.

I have a bad habit of ranting when I'm drunk. About 10% of the time that works so maybe. I try to talk as little as possible whenever possible when in the company of women also so apparently I'm smart and attractive when it's more than a few sentences to them.

I wouldn't say I talk intellectually though when flirting period. It might just come across as it. So I think that's what you should go for if you have too.

Oh and Intellectual discussion by itself does not EVER.

Usually, the answer is no. Even if the girl has a high IQ, chatting about intellectual subject won't turn her on -- and could end up boring her.

The exception: when it's something that either elicits an emotional reaction or it involves something she is passionate about. And, even then, it's hardly a given.

Why is this the case? In large part because it goes against the "keep it light, keep it fun" mindset that any guy needs to have pre-bang with a woman who interests him. Deep intellectual talk, by definition, is definitely not light. And, usually, it's not all that fun, either.

Depends on what you mean by Intellectual Discussion

1 on 1 conversation or debate, trying to convince her: not a turn on

Man laying it down with solid, masculine frame, couldn't care less what she thinks: turn on

A man who procrastinates in his choosing will inevitably have his choice made for him by circumstance.

A true friend is the most precious of all possessions and the one we take the least thought about acquiring.

Yes, absolutely.

Before I had any game (actually I had anti-game), my intellectual discussion was all I had going for me.

In Europe, girls would open me (worked in a downtown London hotel and cute staff members would sit down next to me when I was reading Tolstoy, Kierkegaard, etc).

As noted above, if you are trying to convince or arguing, obviously that is a turn off no matter what you are discussing. But showing earnest passion can really hook a chick, especially if she fancies herself an intellectual (every single female that has attended university).

Obviously if the discussion carries beyond the initial hook, it will get boring. Unless it is with a LTR or wife, then they appreciate it.

I've never actually seen it.

I HAVE seen that women can be turned on by knowing that the guy they're talking to is intellectually sharp or just smart, but that's very different from them being turned on by an actual intellectual discussion.

The exception I've noticed is psychology. Women absolutely LOVE talking about their emotions and guys who have a strong intellectual grounding in psychology (philosophical psychology like Freud and Jung, not clinical psychology) seem to do great talking to women about that. I can think of one example in particular who is very successful in the game because he's one of the guys can make you feel like you've rediscovered the meaning of life talking to him.

Does Intellectual Discussion Ever Turn Women On?

I've had deep, intellectual conversations with some women that lasted for hours.

Ranging from politics, economics, math, philosophy, physics. These weren't lightly treaded subjects with a pedestrian understanding, these were girls actually studying the subject and were knowledgeable in the area because they were graduate students or otherwise.

It's gotten me laid because I can keep the conversation going, understand, and drop little tidbits that excite them.

Girls love to talk. Some girls get highly emotional about this sort of thing. You have to recognize this, and capitalize on it. Emotions=juices flowing.

The trick is figuring out the right moment to slip a tongue down their throat.

Everything about it can get really intense.

I had a week-long fling with a girl based on a conversation like this. I think we were up until 7am the first night. Other nights we slipped into her hotel room and started going for it until a male sharing the hotel room showed up and he got all weirded out. Ended up going to dinner with her, pushing her up against a wall on our way back while walking down the street, started kissing and groping her, then getting her to suck my dick in the car. Things like this continued until I had to drive back at the end of the vacation. She wrecked me afterward.

I couldn't believe a girl that connected with me on such a level would drop me like that. I mourned the death of that fling for entirely too long.

It directly lead to me discovering Roissy, then Roosh.

For very smart women you need contrast.

I was just out tonight with a very sexy young research scientist. I knew when I met her she was smart, so when we met up tonight I played a bit of a curious idiot who, strategically, would throw out some brilliance.

It only works if there are things about your demeanor that allows this contrast to have a certain amount of fun.

So you have to look the part. Keep her guessing, keep surprising her.

Smart women want smart men, they just don't want smart men that act like the smart men in their smart circles.

Intellectual conversation, no.

Pseudo intellectual discussions about "following your heart" and "searching for meaning" will turn any woman's genital area into a lush swampland.
