No fame, no celebrity, no wealth. All hard edges and no soft curves. Zero bullshit personality. (Ottavia is notoriously blunt. That's probably something else Ripert picked up on as a quality Bourdain would find attractive.) And "dysfunctional", which is the word Bourdain himself used to describe the both of them. It's a word he usually reserves only for himself.

That theory makes a little more sense when you consider how much Bourdain simultaneously loves and despises his fame. I still remember when he first got to CNN, and he had to give the most bullshit laugh in the history of bullshit laughter at a crappy joke by Wolf Blitzer. I'm not even sure his example of Singapore is true (which obviously doesn't involve white people anyway). Sometime in the past year or two he's become unbearable.

What really irked me about the segment was around 14:00 one of the women says
