I was thinking about some type of legit investment where you can put in a certain amount of money and it will increase in profit through trading. Is there any such thing?

Have you ever looked into buying an existing online business?

I don't know what type of business that is. Finance maybe?

A common way to make money on the internet is to create some content and use it to make money either through advertising or selling products.

Making money Online

Bumping this thread.

Yesterday I began looking for ways to make money online. I noticed that many sites mentioned that survey taking for companies is one of the best and simplest ways to boost your income online. I decided to give it a try but failed: the first site who offered company surveys had broken links, maybe due to my country. Two site didn't had surveys at the time, and the other sites didn't explained how they cashed in the money in their FAQ (what the fuck with that?)

I read gmanifiesto's post above and loved it, but making an online business could take a while. I was wondering if any of you guys have done the survey thing? Can you please tell me more about it, and where did you do it. Also how much you got paid, etc. Anything relevant just throw it in here, I will appreciate very much.

The G-Man's blog gives you some great examples of how to make some money online, but you need to look closer at his site to understand what he is doing.

His Process (I hope you dont mind G)

1. He sends traffic to HIS website by having interesting things to contribute here and I am sure on other forums
2. Hey offers links to products in his post and If you buy these products he makes money (this is called affiliate marketing)
3. He has his own E-book you can purchase from him on his site that is almost 100% profit (ebooks dont cost anything to make except time)
4. He is building an email list for his newsletter where he can hit you up with some good content and also link to some of his affiliate offers and his ebook.
5. He keeps it old skool gansta with some real hip hop at the bottom of each post [Image: smile.gif]

If you start to look at sites that you frequent more closely you can see how they are monetizing. Good luck.

truedat,

"His Process (I hope you dont mind G)"

I don't mind at all. But I will clarify some things.

First off, and I should make this crystal clear to everyone: I don't write The G Manifesto to make money. I do it because I enjoy writing and its an artistic release for me (which is a greater value for me than money) and if it makes the world a better place, then all the better.

Sure it makes a little dough, but if I divided the time by the amount of money, I would probably be better off working in a Vietnamese textile factory.

My income does not come from The G Manifesto (it always makes me laugh when people think this). The G Manifesto would not cover my annual cigarette bill (but then again my annual cigarette bill is probably 40k).

"He sends traffic to HIS website by having interesting things to contribute here and I am sure on other forums"

I only contribute to this forum. The only website I post comments regularly on is Roosh's. (I used to post on Roissy more consistently two years ago).

Again, if I really wanted to make money with this and really drive traffic, I wouldn't just post on a relatively small and obscure forum like this one (no diss intended, as this is my favorite forum).

That all being said, I have had NY Times mentions and been contacted by an Oscar Nominated producer to get me to write a screenplay. But who cares right? Certainly not me.

"He has his own E-book you can purchase from him on his site that is almost 100% profit"

Partially true. It's not my e-book. I just gave an interview.

Feel free to hit me up with more questions.

So where exactly *does* your income come from, then?

I don't think a site like G Manifesto would make a large amount of income. The rates you get for ads on a site require that you get a large amount of views(around the 100s of thousands) for anything upwards of a 1000 bucks per month.

Irminsul,

"So where exactly *does* your income come from, then?"

Let's just say I am leading the lifestyle that I have always wanted to lead. Fair enough?

Nobody is going to give you the recipe about how to make money online just for the asking. People spend thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars experimenting with products and techniques to get it right. If you don't have money, the other variable is time. Just sheer time and effort.

The most popular way people are making money online is through affiliate marketing. If you have the time you can do this slowly by creating blogs on various niche topics and selling affiliate products related to those topics. For example you write a travel related blog and you sign up as an affiliate for companies that sell travel services, i.e airline tickets, trip insurance, etc. What you can also do once your blog or site reaches a certain traffic threshold is join ad networks. Most of the good well paying ones require your blog or site to be approved before letting you in. There are literally hundreds of them out there. A good ad network might pay you anywhere from $1 and up for every thousand impressions. Many sites do a mix of affiliate marketing and ad networks.

The other more expensive way of affiliate marketing is by using advertising to send surfers to your custom site where you try to sell them on a particular product. You get paid when the surfer buys a product or fills out a form. This is where this a lot of trial and error and you can burn through a lot of money before you find your niche and products that sell.

I don't know much about investing online, but when most people talk about making money online the above is what they are talking about.

Well, actually that does not answer my question at all.

From your posts and your blog, you make it sound like you are flush with cash yet do not have a regular job. Do you own a business?

I don't understand why people feel they have the "right" to know how another guy makes his money.

I always get annoyed when I get questions like this from people I barely know.

He does put a lot of his life online, and he runs a blog with a tagline "The guide to getting more out of life". I think if you're claiming to be a lifestyle guru, it's fair enough to ask where you are getting the money to fund that lifestyle from, at least in a general sense (e.g. job vs. online business or whatever). Especially considering that one of the main themes of this forum is ways of making money.

Well, if he is trying to sell a lifestyle, with the subtext that says "you can be just like me", if you follow what I do, then it's a fair question.

Now, I don't follow G-Manifesto's writings, so I don't know if that is how he is presenting himself. But, IF HE IS, then it's fair.

People ask me how much I make from book sales when they'd never ask a 9-5 guy how much his yearly salary is. Strange.

People must classify each other into brackets:

- 0-20K
- 20-45K
- 45K-80K
- 80K-140K
- 150K-250K

If they can't rank a man, people start to get suspicious of him.

We can't really blame them, though. Not judging his salary is like not judging her ass.

I understand that not having a specific recipe about how to make money online can be frustrating. But the truth is all guys who generate passive income over the internet have experimented with a variety of niches and found a recipe that works for them best. Several of them have failed a bunch of times before arriving at a workable scheme. Such ideas are hard earned and not simply replicable. Even if you follow Martha Stewart's recipe to the T, your brownies are not going to taste exactly like her brownies. Have faith and dig further. You'll find what you're looking for.

I just wanted to say thanks to all you guys who've contributed suggestions to this and previous related threads. Thanks for all the advice and pointers. It's good to have a community of like-minded guys who're trying to help others out with selfless advice. I know it can be vague, but I can trust it because it's usually in good faith. Because they don't shove a $10.99 ebook down my throat about making money online like your average internet marketer, who makes money by showing others how to make money for "small fee."

I didn't ask the guy how much he makes. I just asked what he does, which as far as I know is not an impolite question.

A good first step towards creating an online business is too learn everything about SEO. A lot of people get into this business and burn all their money on promoting low quality sites through advertising.

Also, learn to create good sites that provide some kind of value.

Based on what you said it sounds like you want to be an investor and/or own investments.

If your looking to invest, right now is a good time to be invested in real assets, and commodities. Companies that own and make real things and have exposure to growing markets like Latin America, and Aisia. You could invest your money in stocks that pay good dividends. If you invest in the right stocks in the right coutries you can manage to get three types of appreciation, currency appreciation, dividends, and if the stock value goes up you get that as well.

If your looking to make money online you can start your own website and try to monitize it some way, either through adds, affiliate marketing or selling your own products, or you can go to a site like flippa.com and try to buy a website that is already made and has revenue.

You're question is very general, maybe you can specify a bit more...
