I got the impression that the other agents were actually rather generous to the girl. She came across as really anti-social.

I wonder how close this is to reality.

If you're going to try, go all the way. There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It's the only good fight there is.

Really enjoyed this movie.

And it was refreshing to see that not all women on screen are superheroes.

Caught this the other night. The best part of the film was the firefights, all two of them. The film isn't about the heroine. It's about the Sicario (hitman) who confronts the villain at the end, and for that, the problem for me was that you don't get to SEE the villain doing all the nasty torture-work the cartel leaders do so that by the end of the film I really didn't care what happened to him or the Sicario. A bit anti-climactic for my tastes, but still a good film. 8/10. It's not Oscar material though.

Also, I laughed when one of the Delta guys (on the night mission) ordered her to 'Stay behind us, and don't shoot any of my guys!'

Definitely one of the best movies I've seen all year.

I still have that soundtrack in the back of my head, they really did the suspense well on multiple levels.

"This is the land of wolves now and you're not a wolf"

This hit feminist where it hurts because it was a reflection of their own insecurities about attempting to confront the world we truly live in. Sorry this isn't Star Wars where some skinny chick can out saber a trained Jedi or instantly know how to fix everything, this is the real world. I liked how at the end the female protagonist did what females do best after getting a dose of reality. Run, assemble her gun, and in a fit of rage go to the balcony and point her gun at Medellin.

Typical female response.

I did but I was pretty tired when watching it. They did do a good job at keeping it real and I probably would've enjoyed it more if I was wide awake.

It's not a movie for everyone. It's not a mass market movie.

There are better action sequences on regular TV than the one at the end of this movie. Arrow comes to mind.

It's like going into Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and expecting James Bond. Most things on this earth are made for the Bread and Circuses crowd. Thankfully this was not one of them.

Sicario was incredible, I loved everything about it. This was one of my favorite shots from any movie ever (no spoilers):

Saw this last night. Great movie. Cinematography was outstanding and Benecio was awesome as always.

Thanks for the recommendation guys, probably wouldn't have gone and seen this if it weren't posted on here.

Thanks for this thread. I'd seen the movie on a few sites and I avoided it because I also thought "ahh it's more of this independant woman shit". Watched it last night and enjoyed it.

Showed alot of reality so of course they don't like it. The part where she punched the guy that recruited her and got her ass beat especially. For once it shows the reality of girls who think they can attack guys and what happens if the guy isn't one of those pussy "oh I can't hurt girls" type.

I loved this movie...My military mates liked it and recommended it to me.The part where she got put down was good but better was the way her partner got put down by the Delta boys..controlled aggression .'Just stay down'.

I don't think she got her ass beat she just got put in her place again with reflex controlled aggression....like when Benito put 2 rounds in her vest...know your place in the jungle.

Overall I thought Blunt was good...I find her very attractive too.

Having been a soldier and LEO this movie resonated with me.All big dog Alpha rules at the end of the day.Plus the mentality of Police vs Army ..its not the same and different rules and mindset applies..

I always wonder when people go on about gun crime in the US if they actually looked at what was happening over the border in Mexico.

Can you list a handful of movies which are similar?

I saw this nominated for the awards so I decided to watch it. I was skeptical as soon as I saw a cute white girl with blue eyes as a leading actress. Fortunately it didn't go the route of badass super warrior women. A pleasant surprise.

Since watching 'No Country for Old Men', I have a great appreciation for these type of drawn out character development movies. Especially if the cinematography is as good as it is in Sicario. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

But I recommended it to a friend and he thought it was too slow. Then again, his favourite show is The Walking Dead.

Very skeptical of Hollywood movies these days and I found Sicario very refreshing. The whole movie is more or less from the POV of Emily Blunt, I guess you could her a protagonist. However, she isn't the main character at all and for the most part the movie looks very realistic to me. Only weak part is how (easily) they capture the bad guy at the end, but then I guess they had to have the happy ending.

Somewhat confusing and hard to follow, but extremely well filmed, realistic and brutal without being soul-crushing. I like it. Thanks for the recommendation RVF!

Yes, this was the anti-Zero Dark Thirty and the opposite of The Force awakens.

And the best scene of the movie involved one of these:

Never knew a wet willy would hurt so much. Great movie. What did Del Toro due to the captured guy in the room with the water jug?

Just saw it, fantastic movie. Really enjoyed watching it.
Impossible not to get annoyed by the female protagonist and her behaviour after the first scene, glad that they were keeping it real and the movie turned out the way it did.
Otherwise, great cinematography and impressive performance by Benicio del Toro.

Read a theory saying that he raped him. First I thought waterboarding, but after watching the scene again I'm not so sure.

Every movie that she's in I wish someone would just flip her over and ride her skinny ass hard to show her what's what. Remember her in Edge Of Tomorrow? She was literally unbearable and Tom's charm and wit fortunately carried the movie. Sicario came pretty close and my favorite scene is when she gets put on her ass by Benicio - probably too much of a reality check for any feministas watching it.

Not sure it's waterboarding. No cloth (to apply on nose and mouth) in sight in the room, water tank not open... also, this Del Toro's threat muttered in Spanish "very soon you'll know how it feels to meet God, on Yankee soil" seems sexually oriented. So, I am afraid there is more severe torture involved here, than waterboarding...

Great movie.

Also, in my opinion, it proves how women are terrible in law enforcement and in military.

Do not get me started telling you how women are awful soldiers (first hand experience). Ok as POGs, but in combat operations...fail.

They are a total mess.

Brilliant movie. This is what the future's going to look like.

Loved the body-types of the military men. None of the gay boy Calvin Klein model bullshit; muscular with some fat, and grizzled beards.
