Bit of background - a household with very traditional religious values. My sister is 23 and looking to get married, never had a relationship before.

I denounced such values and have always been seen as the "sinner" in my family's eyes. This started when I got into a relationship at the age of 19. Literally just me having a girlfriend was a major drama for them.

Anyway, yesterday I brought my latest girl over to show her my family home. The house was empty apart from my sister, who lives on the second floor of the house. I told her that a girl was here and that I would be downstairs.

I took my girl to the garden, where we have a log cabin, and we were having sex there. Suddenly I heard a noise of the back door of the house slamming shut. She had obviously somehow seen us.

Anyway, since then she has declared she wants nothing to do with me, and has labelled me disrespectful and disgusting.

In all our years as siblings, we have never really had an argument apart from trivial bickering. No idea what to do.

There are several approaches you can do to reason with her. Not sure if any of them will work but it's worth a shot.

First, tell her, "Can we talk about this like adults? There's no reason to hold grudges between siblings, because that's a mortal sin."

Second, tell her, "Judge not, for you too shall be judged in equal measure to those that you judge."

Third, read this thread and try to explain to her that premarital sex is magnitudes less sinful for a man than it is a woman. Explain to her, that in this day and age, finding a good girl is next to impossible so until you can find a good one all you can do is practice on skanks.

Alright, here is an answer that isn't "I'm too cool to be decent to my family"

1. Your sister wants to be offended here, very religious women only have one outlet and its casting judgement on others. If you ignore this or tell her to fuck off, she will tell anyone and everyone willing to listen until she gets the "oh what a monster, you are such a saint" response she is looking for.

2. Given #1, apologize. How you apologize depends on how you currently present yourself to her...if she thinks you are religious also, you should apologize for your moral failings. If she thinks that you have some sort of respect for her, you should apologize for offending her. As in something like "I understand that you have different values than me and I'm sorry that I brought that into your space"

Think about it this way, how would you expect her to react if she walked in on your shooting up heroin in your parents bathroom? If she's very religious she probably thinks of walking in on you banging some slut in the garden shed as equivalent to that.

If this wasn't your sister and/or you weren't close I'd say "who cares"

I've apologised, said I was under the impression we were in a completely private setting, and would not have done so if I didn't think we were. I said it was completely unintentional.

She told me to "fuck off" for the first time in her life, repeated that I was disgusting and stated that I have no respect for her (bringing the girl in to her home).

I'll mention the values thing like you recommended, but beyond that, I think that's enough apologising; she needs to mature a bit.

Haha, I'd give her time to cool off and read her bible and the next church service (or whatever equivalent religion she follows). The church people I know usually come to their senses after reflecting on the past week at church.
