I always start my return to Van with a fricasse breakfast from Medina Cafe

I second this spot. Make sure to get there early on the weekends though, the line is down the street.

Quote:Quote:

I also like Hawksworth which is the Hotel Georgia or something like that. I'm lazy to google the Hotel it is in but I am pretty sure that is the name. It is another high end place with a lot of hot women rolling in and out. Both places usually have groups of 3-5 women out for drinks. So you have to bring your A game to get into the group and then of course isolate.

Yes, its in the Hotel Georgia. Another dope spot. I was there on Friday night and EVERY woman in there was hot. Another thing about Vancouver is the 2 babes + 1 queen (gay dude) packs. At Hawksworths this is even more common. These tend to be great set ups though. Having a good style automatically puts you on the Queens radar, and by being a decent guy getting into these groups is easy. The chances are good that one of the women will be single (and gay dudes hate when their girls are single) and there will be a subtle (or not so subtle) push to get her to loosen up.

Beware though, the women can often be very cold (or snobby or shy). Another Vancouver thing where women of this class often find it difficult to relax around someone from outside the group.

Also in the same hotel is Reflections rooftop bar (open only in the summer). The place takes top spot for talent and atmosphere on summer nights.

One thing I hate about Vancouver though is no one will look you in the eyes when you walk past them. You make eye contact with guy or girl and they immediately look down and away. It is so bad that if I am in an obnoxious mood I will literally step in front of them and see if they run into me. I don't know what it is about Van, but everyone does that. You go anywhere in the Prairie provinces and guys give you a head nod or even say what's up. Most of Canada is like that in fact, even more friendly in the maritimes. It's not that people in Van are dicks, they are just pussies I think. It does make it easier to pick girls up as most of the herbs will not approach. So if you guys are flying in and noticing the same thing don't let it reflect bad about the city. It's a great city, it is just some weird thing about people there.

I forgot how little eye contact there is here. Its really a hard thing to get used to. I just moved back, and like you, I sometimes just want to jump in front of people. I think it might have something to do with the fact that you cant go more than 50m without someone asking you for change.

I am not to pleased with the women here, actually. I find them cold, uninteresting, and a little stressed out. I have been trying to recalibrate after moving back here but so far nothing has clicked. The venues that I used to frequent have all went to shit, the guys and girls seem to roll in packs, and the staff in bars are like an incestuous family.

This probably sounds bitter, and to a small degree it might be. I am having a pretty good time here, but the city has lost a lot of the luster for me. The place is a bit of a warped universe where the highest status people in the whole city are bartenders and waitresses at Cactus Club.

Man I definitely feel you on the stressed out part. Here on campus we just got through midterm season. I saw 2 girls the entire month wearing makeup and something other than lululemons/sweats. I don't really have a perspective as to what game is like elsewhere, but girls definitely go out of their way to avoid social interaction during the day. I don't know if they're just un-confident socially or if the culture is to just avoid human contact unless it is your friends, but making eye contact longer than a brief second is rare. I went to a few smaller towns outside of Van this summer and at every one of those places people would wave and say hi/good morning. Here they scurry past you and clutch their purses tighter.

As for you guys who travel here, the homeless problem is bad, but around the main bar areas there are always cops and lots of people. They will rarely hassle you for anything but a few quarters. I've gone to some spots for music right on main/hastings and I still didn't have a problem walking alone at 1am, side streets and alleys I'd be wary of though.

I will be moving to Vancouver soon to spend no less than a year there. I read on wikipedia that the black population is just about 1%. I was wondering if anybody could enlighten me on how well black guys generally do with the ladies. And which race of girls like the black men there?

There are quite a few blacks in Vancouver. Not anywhere near as many as in Toronto but it is not an unusual sight. Since multiculturalism etc are the official dogma and quasi religion in Vancouver I have seen a lot of girls being very enthusiastic about anything that is out of the norm ( read white or Asian) so as a black guy you might have an advantage. My advice would be to go for a cultured and sophisticated persona to differentiate yourself from the African refugees that can be found in Surrey and Burnaby and who have unfortunately started developing a reputation for dealing and lewd behavior. If you avoid being lumped in with these people then white girls in Vancouver are like fish in a barrel. Asians seem to prefer dating other Asians or whites..this is purely anecdotal based on three years of living in Vancouver... Happy shooting!

Whats your age, style and are you muscular (nohomo). I've rolled with a black dude from the UK before, he had no game but chicks were still eyefucking/opening him. Went to another party where there were a bunch of dudes from the football team (one was flashing some kind of US college bowl ring) chicks were interested but the dudes seemed more into partying with their friends. You could try gaming at one of the universities if you're younger I know of quite a few girls who love black dudes.

If you are in Vancouver and have style and are smooth the city will do you well. I cant speak of the suburbs, but there is nothing out there anyways.

There are not very many black cats that fit that bill around here, and the few brothers I am friends with never have any issues with women. My one close friend has a great Japanese woman, and another friend has a Korean girl, so I would not discount the Asians. Koreans and Japanese are especially into the hip hop scene.

Shine on water st has a hip hop night that would be good for hitting up. Also Calabash on Carrol St attracts a lot of white girls that are looking for brother love. Good music as well, I like the spot (although on the weekends it can attract a suburban crowd that feels the need to act gangster).

I am 29, 6 ft tall and above average muscular built but i'm not like a football player. I'm going to be on a budget so I wont be able to be flashing money around to be going to a lot of clubs and such. My style is simple, I usually dress in close fitting polo shirts and jeans and flat shoes on a regular day. If I go to a club I normally suit up or at least wear a jacket or a vest or something like that. And my game I would say is a little above average.

Since I am from Jamaica, do you think I should go over there and flaunt my Jamaican culture, therefore let them all know that I am Jamaican or should I just let them find that out themselves?

Expound on the cultured and sophisticated persona, on which you speak, and how would I differentiate from the African refugees just by dressing? Lewd behavior is actually something that I hate and try to avoid as best as possible, so I definitely wouldn't want to be associated with that.

If you are Black from Jamacia and in Vancouver (or most of the USA) flaunt it and you will have plenty of girls who will seek you out. This can be applied to nightlife : (you are hip to the music scene they want to "experience") reggae / dubstep / etc or do the same thing and mildly swagger them in daygame.

Canadians (and Vancouverites) are all very friendly and will be will happy to talk to you.

Is there anything that is taboo in Vancouver that I should definitely not? What are they turned off by the most?

By sophisticated I simply mean non-thuggish, speaking proper English etc. I know a black guy in dt Vancouver who kills it with quality girls and his advice is to forego the "rapper, thug" role since Van girls can get that in Seattle or vacationing in California.

2nd the robson square on sunday. Saw some fine-looking women there. Older-but very good looking. Saw one older dude tearing it up. He was dancing and got this lady really into him.

UBC in Van made this video a while ago. Good representative of the average population, more fatties and less asians than I usually see, but scope it. The guys are still taller/more gangly like they are in the vid, but are starting to dress better. Most of the girls are averge/cute, but when you see a hot girl they're fucking hot boner inducing specimens in yoga pants.

Killer data sheet dudes, you put in a lot of work Western Cancer, cheers. I got to say, learning game is rough in Vancouver to say the least. Good thing I live close to surrey, it's like training wheels for your bike but all the 8-9s seem to make the trip to Vancouver haha.

I'd say either come to Surrey jmackin as it's fairly close to delta, or make the trip to Vancouver. I don't usually hear of anything ever happening out in delta.

Delta? Wow.

Change that now if you can. Nothing good out there.

Some people like to throw around "North Delta or NorDel" as some sort of badge of honor but in reality it is a middle class suburb.

I went to a strip club there years back when I was working construction in the area. The place was weak and closed down after some shootings. No big loss.

Some of the guys that I worked with talked about some Irish bar there, but I could not be bothered. I just hopped on my motorbike after work and battled the bridge and tunnel commute to get my ass back to Van.

I meet some Delta girls once in a while in my neighborhood. They are usually shitfaced and carrying their heels by 11pm.

Man if I had a choice I wouldnt go to Delta, but I cant be anywhere else because of non-game related business. So i just have to make do with Delta. How far is surrey from delta, can I hop on a taxi and be in surrey is a short time mackin on chicks. Is the good logistics in living in delta and gaming in Surrey?

Shootings, man that sounds like Jamaica, is crime a big issue in Delta and surrounding areas? I did some research they said that the crime in Vancouver is about 30% more than in Toronto, how true is that? I cant be bothered with the shootings and other huligan type behaviour anymore, Too much of it here where i'm from. I want to be able to walk the street by myself at 2am, no worries, is that ok in Delta?

@J-Macking: Don't bother gaming in Delta or even Surrey for that matter. If you can, try to stay closer to downtown Vancouver or at least one of the 2 skytrain lines.

If you don't have a choice and need to stay in Delta, then I would drive to one of the Richmond skytrain stations (Bridgeport where the Casino is), park your car (free). And skytrain to downtown Vancouver. Get off at either Yaletown station or Vancouver Centre station and you are in the middle of the action my friend.

Respect Gemini, Delta seems like a lame place, I will have to attempt to make the best of it.
