planning to go to Oslo soon. What is the best option for private accomodation? I need more options in terms of hotels or appartments

Booking.com has some faire prices (but not cheaper than 70 euro/night, breakfast NOT included).

"My City Home apartments" - site has been classified as suspicious by Google and a load of Spam filters.

Even Airbnb does not offer anything serious below 70 euro.

I definetly agree that norwegian girls are the best in Scandinavia: comparing to danish and swedish, they are more friendly, more open to foreigners and have less superiority complex (before discovering that enormous quantity of oil 30 years ago, they were poor and considered the shabby and gross people of Scandinavia).
About the beauty, you see less blondies and more brunettes that DK and SW. But there are a lot of chubbies.
Saving money while there? Nearly impossible (just to give you an idea, a kebab and a soda cost around 15/18$). Either you stay short time and go to hostels (which is not a problem for getting laid, 'cause most usually scandinavian girls bring you in their place if they wan to fuck) or try to stay long time and find a job, which is not so difficult and pays very well.

No point going to Oslo if you don't have money.

I recall a Salmon burger being sold for $28 in my hotel.

Know your places, and in daytime you'll find large kebab with soda 8 USD, that ain't to bad.

Go to the university, game chicks, and eat sponsored dinner for 10USD.

Also nightlife in the 3. and second biggest city has more charm in my opinion.

Check out Trondheim. It's less trash there, but ratio is little scewed due to all the technology students.

Clarification on the drinking age in Norway. At 18 you can buy alcohol up to 22%. At 20 you can by anything above. Clubs and bars can decide what they want their age limits to be.

I am going to Oslo at the end of the month, where is the best place to stay or does it matter as long as it is somewhat centrally located?

Okay, I just got back from a short visit to Oslo. Overall I thought it was a pretty good city (aside from the Cost Of Living insanity that has been discussed ad nauseam).

Overall thoughts:
- I picked a perfect weekend to go, sunny and over 20 (Celsius) every day, girls were out in full force during the day and Sentrum as packed. If it is rainy or shitty weather that may change some of the places.

- Coming from Germany I noticed a increase of attractiveness and openness from Norwegian girls. As stated earlier I noticed interactions were I went more direct than indirect did better on average.

- Having said that I found overall fashion sense to range from terrible to average. Particularly rampant were jorts (i.e. the ones that were cut from jeans because you can see the pockets hang out from the bottom of the jort and worn up above the belly bottom, see below)

- 2/3 days is probably too short for most people for a flagging mission, you will have to follow Roosh's guide on the accelerated program. I was getting a lot of interest from girls easily enough, but finding the ones that are down will be your problem on such a short trip, I think my odds of getting the flag would have gone up significantly I had two more nights/days.

- It was mentioned that logistics are not that important, I agree and disagree with this. I think you definitely need some alcohol back at your place, since places close down everywhere at 3:30 and everyone spills out onto the street. I got three different answers when it came to afterhours/parties: (1) doesn't exist, after part at apartments, (2) exists but don't know where they are/need connections, (3) exists but too incoherent to provide accurate intel. I'm leaning towards answer 1 based on what I saw, having said that have alcohol and music cued up to a reason to bounce for an afterparty.

- Recommendations on areas to stay: Soliis Plass or Sentrum. (Just watch out in Sentrum because there are a lot of hookers out, but they are easy to I.D. and just walk past/brush off.) Both were slammed with people walking home with ample targets to make last minute attempts. I didn't hang out in Gronlokka like many of the others so maybe it is the same.

- Cockblocking was moderate at worst. I had several good interactions where the girl I was talking to go dragged away by her friend, but other times they seemed complete cool with a stranger talking to their friend.

- I actually didn't mind the high alcohol prices (don't get me started on food prices though), as it forced me to chill on my alcohol consumption so I wasn't as drunk and more aware of the game I was running, unlike in Germany where I can get 3 Euro beers or 6 Euro Vodka Sodas and drink them like they are going out of style, which you simply can't do when the beers are $12(72-78Kr) and well drinks are $18(102Kr).

Day Game:
- As mentioned by previous members, in nice weather day game has amazing potential, pretty much packed from Najionatheatre tram/metro station to the main train station
- Also good is the royal gardens as there were many opportunities to chat up sunbathing girls (none topless though).

Night Game (run down of spots):

Lawo: Hyped to me by a super fly girl I chatted up in the "L'Etoile Bar" (Rooftop bar of Grand Hotel Rica, which I will mention below). Pretty much an Airball on Friday night, but I was told that Fridays aren't that great in Oslo, but I that with a grain of salt, though I did walk by on Saturday night and it did look more full.

Johns: Directly next to Lawo, it was more packed on Friday night, didn't go in because there was a line. A few cuties outside, but don't know what the ratios were on the inside.

Inernasjionalen: Decent crowd on Friday night, several groups of cute girls, you can do worse.

baroque: This place frustrated me. It has a lot of potential, but except for about 20 minutes was pretty lame, though the girls that were here were mostly fly/well dressed. Of course everyone swore up and down that "it is never this empty on a Saturday night." Maybe if it has a good crowd it would be worth the 130Kr cover, but not with how empty it was.

Nox: This place was recommended to me by a girl from baroque (they are right around the corner from each other). I was skeptical, but there was a big line to get in, but that plus I saw a bunch of groups of hot girls leaving made me not wait in line and pay another cover.

Soliis This was my favorite place from Saturday night. No cover, lots of above average girls to talk to. Met some cool expats/students and hung out with them for a while.

Brass Monkey?? Hyped to me by the expat/students as "the place to be" in Oslo. We didn't get in but say above average girls get turned away so maybe there is something too it. Also they weren't 100% sure what it's name was (didn't have a sign on the door, but I marked its location on my google places map, near Soliis).

palace grill/skågrams(??) This place is also around the corner from Soliis, had a big line on Saturday night where we met some other U.S. students/expats. Apparently older crowd, but I can't really say one way or the other. The sign on the outside says "palace grill" but it was referred by the people I was with as skågrams (estimation of the spelling).

L'Etoile Bar" (Rooftop bar of Grand Hotel Rica). Decent crowd, slightly older, there was one group of about 15-20 people with about 3-4 really attractive girls that gave this place a boost (this was early evening on a Friday), not sure how often that happens and if you take that group away the talent was not that great.

Q Lounge (Rooftop bar of Grims Grenka Hotel) Nice spot, good views but light on talent, one of those hit or miss type places that will randomly be good one night but suck +75% of the time.

Supposedly the "best" Sunday night spot. There's a band that has been playing there on sundays for the past 15 years, it was packed when I got there at 10pm. There is an outdoor terrace, which serves alcohol until like 10:30, then then wont let alcohol out of the building and you can only smoke outside. After the band shuts down at midnight, turns into more of a nightclub with DJ. Decent quality, a lot of cute, but not hot girls, which for a Sunday was good. Heavy international crowd, English was widespread, much more so than some of the other places I visited. Ratios turned south after 11:30 midnight.

Anyone got any advices on Trondheim? I may study at the Institute of technology there and want to know if the student life is good, if there are good parties, if there are any great expeditions where they take us for beautiful scenery... etc. And I've heard the girls are not so open to foreigner or that it's super hard to socialize with norvegians. Since it's such an expensive country I don't see many foreginers wanting to study there too.

@Pacesetter

Seems you have covered many essential places in Oslo.

I`d like to add these suggestions though, especially during the summer:

Fridays Aker Brygge: People in their 20s and pretty mixed crowd. In the weekends queue close to midnight, but it moves fast. Behave and keep a low profile, the doormen can be nazis.

Åpen bar (just at the enterance of Aker Brygge) Some hot girls, also some latinas. Dancefloor with a bar in the middle in the 2nd floor. Nice cassual dress-code.

There is an area called Grunerløkka that you haven`t been to. I used to frequent there but got tired of it. Check this map! You could start at the top of Grunerløkka and bar-hop. Start at Tealounge (A) AkuAku (B) Fru Hagen ( C ) Parkteateret (D) Ryes (E) Blå (F) and go to Vulcan (G) ( Vulcan is on the top of a hotel) The only problem with this area is that on weekends it can be long queues around midnight and crowded. The places are bars with dimmed lights and a crowd ranging from 20-35. Plenty of students go there! AkuAku used to be my regular place, and even if it`s tiny they have amazing drinks and Japanese Whiskey. I would bring a date here for a couple of beers around 8pm.

If you want to day game you should know about the beach where all eye-candy go to. It`s called Huk. You take bus number 30 from The National Theater in the west direction to the last stop. Check this site for all public transportation timetables, which by the way is excellent in Oslo. Buy the suitable tickets for you and you will save a lot of money for the even more expensive drinks.

Hotel recommendations:

Oslo is an expensive city by all means, and accommodation is no exception. So where are good places to stay?

H1. First Hotel Millennium - It`s close to the Parlament building and in the heart of Oslo. You can get a decent price, clean rooms and nice breakfast.

H2. Rica Travel hotel - Almost same location as number H1.

H3. Radisson Blu Scandinavia - (next to the Royal Palace, but still a great location for nightlife. If you have a date, their bar on the top-floor is great for that purpose. In the weekends it may be a little crowded around 10pm and after, but normally no problem to get a table. If you are staying there I am sure you can arrange to book a table. If you have a date during weekdays I wouldn`t bring her there before 9 pm unless you want the bar for yourself) If you don`t want a hotel-abr you can go to Tulins that is just next to the hotel. Student-crowd, with ok food. Laid-back place and could work for a swift beer-date.

!!! Make sure you book a room for 2 persons when you visit Oslo. Most hotels are pretty strict about letting in "extra people" and forget about having afterparties in your hotel. The exception would be the bigger hotels with more staff and security during the night, for instance my 3rd suggestion on the list.

If you have any question please let me know and I will help any forum member with info. I have been a leech on this forum far too long. Time to contribute!

The number one spot in Trondheim is called Solsiden

Also, very nice and approachable people in general in Trondheim. I had a great time there, and banged a girl there during the weekend I spent.

I have not read a lick of info from this thread but I am certain they haven't mentioned the possibilities for day gaming at the park or beach. Go to Frogner park, which is a known hang out spot for the locals that want to enjoy a day of fun in the sun. Usually they will bring a plethora of beer, food, games and just hang out on the grass and the women will tan in their booty shorts and skimpy tops.

I would suggest going with a friend, but if not just bring a backpack with frisbee, a 6 pack of beers and just walk around and meet friendly locals. When they realize you are a foreigner they will most likely invite you to join their picnic. If you play your cards right they will invite you out that night for drinks. I can not stress it enough, it is really really really easy. Norweigians love foreigners and they are especially nice when the sun is shinning!

Although I would not return there in the short term because of low ROI, weather, very expensive (think 30 USD for a burger and fries at TGIF, well it was like that 2 years ago), I would rank Oslo #1 city in the world for natural beauty of girls in terms of the median average being so high.....very impressing.

I also hate the long bus ride to the city from the airport zzzzzzzzzzzz

If you ever go back just buy your food in the ethnic supermarkets and stay clear of the tourist trap restaurants like TGIF. Its still very expensive but Oslo is worth every penny!

Had a great time in Oslo. Will echo similar sentiments to what has been previously stated (v expensive etc) but found the locals to be friendly. Walked around Aker Brygge and just tried to day game the local hotties who were walking past. The girls were surprisingly friendly and were keen on meeting up. But due to limited stay the angle we used was never going to work. Also went out in Grunnerlokka some nice bars there

I am landing in Oslo at midnight Saturday and want to go out Grunnerlokka.

I am there for 18 hours.

I am on a budget and want to spend as little as possible.

I will not buy accommodation and will have to find a place to put my bag. (Airport locker?)

I am determined to get my flag.

What is the best course of action for fulfilling these obligations?

Midnight as in Sunday morning?
Everything is possible, but it will take you at least an hour from landing before you are in Oslo centre. The bars/clubs stop serving alcohol at 03:30.

What is your plan B incase you don't get lucky? Have you checked the weather? It will be dark and cold. Check your transport options/costs beforehand.

Seems a bit overly optimistic. Then again, if the flag is all you care about......

Buy some alcohol in the taxfree or the country you come from. Bring a flask to the bar if you have, I have done this many times.

Take the normal NSB train, NOT the Airport Express train. It's much cheaper and only takes a couple of minutes more. It runs less fequently though, so since you're pressed for time you may have to bite the bullet and take the express. Cost 90 NOK each way, 180 NOK for express. If you need to cab use Uber, but the city is walkable. And there are trams running quite late, you can easily take them without buying a ticket. If there's a ticket control you have to pay €100 but that's highly unlikely on a Saturday night. try to grab a tram to Grünerløkka, or it's a 15 min walk from Oslo S.

There should be lockers at the central train station (Oslo S, the one closest to Grünerløkka), not sure if there are any at the airport. Price maybe 60-80 NOK.

Bars stop serving alcohol at 03:00, not 03:30. At 3:30 everyone have to be out of the bar. Some places won't let people in after 2:30-2:45, so pick your last venue before this. If you arrive around 1 am you may have to stand in line 15-20 minutes if you're going to a popular venue. Make sure you stand near some attractive girls.

A beer in a good place will cost 70-80 NOK.

If you're getting it on with a girl but she's not quite ready to bang you in the toilet you can ask if she's going to an afterparty or if she can have one at her place with just the two of you. [Image: smile.gif] Oh, and if you're going with a girl to bang/afterparty and she says she's hungry, let her get her disgusting kebab rather than trying to talk her out of it. She won't have cock in her mind when she's thinking of that greasy kebab. Just try to find a place without a line.

if the clock is ticking and nothing have hooked, start concentrating on finding an afterparty. Usually guys host these, but also girls. Befriend both girls you can bring and the guys hosting the party - they probably won't mind that you tag along if you bring girls. Being a visitor should be and advantage here, we Norwegians wanna show people how we party. Probably half of the people who go out on Saturday go to some afterparty.

I can't comment on specific venues at Grünerløkka because I have hardly been out there (I don't live in Oslo). Usually I go out around Youngstorget or Hegdehaugsveien, but I don't have enough experience there to comment on where it's easier to pull.

FWIW, my last ONS in Oslo was with a girl I started chatting up in a line outside a popular, small bar. The line was hardly moving so they got tired of waiting and asked me to join them to an afterparty at their place just around the corner. Banged her a few times that night and never heard from her again.

It will be parties everywhere on Saturday night/Sunday morning. Personally I prefer solli plass, which is quite a posh area in Oslo. Grunnerlokka Is more of a hipster area. Downtown is also good with many bars and clubs.
