I checked out some other places in town that were recommended to me by the locals.

They didn't work for me. They had a commercial vibe with too much of a mix of people. It's supposed to be a cool bar amongst the locals with more of a relaxed/edgy vibe. I am more alternative than mainstream but the place was just full of sloppy average girls in their early 30's.

BAR Vulkan is supposed to be cool but it was in the Grunerlokka district and too far from were I was staying. This is a cool neighbourhood so I reckon it has potential but I wasn't prepared to pay a fortune for a cab as the trains stop at 12. I got one taxi in Oslo which was 5 minutes down the road because I got lost one night. It cost me about 20 euros.

So I was quite at home on Hegdehaugsveien. This is were Horgans or Bjorungs is based. There are about 5 or 6 bars and clubs all packed together which is ideal hunting ground for me. If Im not feeling one place I can easily hop next door. This way I also look like a fresh face as opposed to the guy hitting on girls or standing at the bar alone. Apparently this is supposed to be the posh part of town were all the Norwegian toff's go. I didn't get this vibe too much. The music was fun… the venues were packed and there was plenty of friendly youngens to approach. Probably not the most sophisticated women in Oslo but with 3 days I wasnt looking for a wife.
Normally I would not go to the snotty clubs in London because they are far to pretentious and your chances of a SNL would be Zero. Im not quite sure what the niche here is but who cares. Id say the ratio of men and women was 50/50. As I said before the men have aggressive game. THinking about it now I actually thinking hanging back at the bar and making the odd subtle approach worked to my advantage.
I didn't get cock blocked by any guys but here were a few jealous girl cock blocks. I really tested how far I could push my game here by successfully kissing a hot (married) 27 year old. Her friend saw this and literally told me to beat it. It was harsh.. but probably fair.

When I am drunk I get sloppy but I also find myself in situations I otherwise would not have. I do not like the fact I drink to have fun, and you are right.. too much effects my sexual performance. A few drinks improves it dramatically. Long term however I'm not so sure. I also smoke when I go out. I basically just abuse my body. Right now I drink too much because I go out a lot.

What would one say are average lodging prices. since ryanair is so cheap i might splurge and go hotel. but I prefer the cheaper option, hostel or even CS if it looks like there's good host.

Hey Sourcecode. Oslo is a great spot. I just returned from there.
Here's an Oslo City Report I did last week.

Hostels are not cheap and buying booze at the airport if defo the way to go. You can manage the city on foot but there's not much to see. The main thing is the women - they are game on!

If Oslo wasn't so expensive I would consider living there. Personally I found the city kinda boring but wasn't there to sight see. It's the easiest city I have been to hook up. Norwegian girls are renowned for there promiscuousness.
