Youtube pedo algorithm discovered?

Hi,

In this video, a man accuses Youtube of facilitating pedophiles trading children videos.
The videos themselves can be seen as simply children beeing filmed and doing challenges : popsicles, yoga pants, swimsuits, etc.

But under the videos, people are timestamping all the moments the child spreads his legs or bends over.
There's no doubt the comments are from pedophiles, from my point of view.

He uses a VPN and creates a new account, to prove his point.
I didn't use a VPN to confirm, just tried with my existing account, nothing showed up as I already have personnalised recommandations.
(I used the same reasearch keyword as in the video)

From my point of view, I'd be surprised if Youtube knew about this.
But hey, at this day and age, nothing is impossible.

So, do you think Youtube is willingly helping pedos, to share and find half naked children on video?

I honestly doubt they do. How many new videos are uploaded to YouTube every single day? Several hundred thousand? 1 million+? Impossible to police, really. While I hate the leftists at big tech companies, even they are horrified by pedo scum and and don't want it associated with their platforms.

Probably their algorithms naturally segregated this content from everything else, hence why it appears to be a wormhole.

Have you been paying attention to them fucking over alt-media, content creators and other fluff?

Ofcourse they know how to nail them and any video can be seen by their internal process far quicker than you realise.

Why do you believe that, exactly? The left has been sexualizing children with ever increasing abandon. Why do you think the "leftists at big tech" are different?

I am sorry, but this is insane. YouTube banning a few prominent alternative voices does not mean they can possibly keep track of all the videos uploaded to their site. There is no way- no algorithm, no deep learning AI, no army of moderators- that can possibly police the sheer volume of content on YouTube.

For example, I am pretty sure that children aren't even allowed to have accounts. Clearly the haven't even figured out how to stop kids from registering and uploading videos, so keeping perfect track of otherwise illicit content wouldn't even be possible if they wanted to.

Because Tumblr had this exact problem, and they ended up purging the site of all adult content to fix it:

"Tumblr says that child pornography was the reason for its app’s sudden disappearance from the iOS App Store. The app has been missing from the store since November 16th, but until now the reason for its absence was unclear — initially Tumblr simply said it was “working to resolve the issue with the iOS app.” However, after Download.com approached Tumblr with sources claiming that the reason was related to the discovery of child pornography on the service, the Yahoo-owned social media network issued a new statement confirming the matter."

You guys seem to think the leftists at Youtube or Tumblr are in the illuminati, or on par with Dr. Evil. They're boring, mundane people who fill the void in their lives with leftist political content, that's it. Tumblr was so incompetent they nearly blew up their entire platform, then moronically purged everything with genitals because they couldn't separate out pedo content from legal adult content.

If you think YouTube is nefariously promoting the pedo agenda by letting this stuff flourish on their site, you're sadly mistaken. They're incompetent nitwits managing a massive platform and barely able to keep the lid on basic problems.

If (((they))) wanted to stomp this out they could. Ban one pedo and his ip address. Then scrutinize the creeps who post those comments and who follow these videos.

That's what Red China does with Google's help. Then they are off to the gulag.

It's absolutely laughable to think that YouTube's legion of employees (not to mention God knows how many contractors) is unable to monitor all the content posted there, especially with the aid of its state-of-the-art algorithms and photo recognition.

Heck, even if you wanted to manually examine that one million new videos per day, you could easily set up a content monitoring center in Mumbai dedicated exclusively to this purpose, all at a negligible fraction of YouTube's income.

As an added bonus, you could call it "Project Irtilon".

I am sure you can provide some evidence that these "state-of-the-art-algorithms" can do what you think they can, right?

Wrong, they don't exist. The ones that do exist don't work particularly well. Asking an algorithm to correctly identify illicit video content without accidentally also banning tons of legitimate content simply isn't possible, or these platforms would gladly do it. It would cost an untenable amount of money to have moderators reviewing and manually approving everything. Hence, the nasty pedo content is a problem on nearly all online platforms. Bing got in trouble recently for this, so has Tumblr, and now YouTube is as well.

It costs money to monitor this kind of thing, and the only reason to make that investment is to protect the brand. Which is why companies wait until it becomes a publicly known problem, then have a clumsy over reaction.

I am not a fan of the censorship or abusive business practices of big tech. But acting like this is part of a secretive plot is absurd. It is the predictable result of internet perverts and incompetent platforms.

Not being in YouTue's tech division, I can't copy-paste the code of these algorithms. However, I know that for example Facebook imbues every single photo and video with automatic background tags (that you can see if you pause the pageload or inspect the code) that roughly resemble this:

"Image may contain: 2 people 1 male 20-30 1 female 20-30 sitting nature smiling formal".
(context: this was a photo of me and my wife on our wedding day - quite accurate, isn't it?)

Stuff like this is just the tip of the iceberg that I as a non tech-wiz ordinary used can see - with who knows how many more tags and algorithms deconstructing every single frame in detail - and you're claiming that YouTube can't examine its content in a similar fashion?

Quote:Quote:

According to this agency, a customer support/call center in a developing country containing almost 1000 agents can be had for as little as $10 million per year (compare: Youtube has a revenue of about $10 billion per year. Surely those 1000 agents could take a look at a hundred thousand videos per day, especially videos that have already been examined and tagged by algorithms.

I agree that it's probably not a deliberate plot, but to claim that it's impossible or couldn't be done with even the tiniest bit of effort is simply absurd.

It couldn't be done even if they wanted to, and this is just common sense.

Algorithms can barely identify what is even in still photos. You seriously think they can correctly analyze what is happening in a video, and further determine whether it is "obscene" or not? It would take near perfect AI to do this. AI cannot even get a car through a crowded parking lot consistently.

My girlfriend likes a YouTube channel where this charming girl, who is a super hot 19 year old, tries on bathing suits and talks about them. Totally legit, but zero chance an algorithm could distinguish it from something illegal. Same thing for call center tier Indians. Imagine content creators finding out they got flagged as illegal pornography because some guy in a call center clicked a button that said so, and they now have to appeal it. This is the sort of thing people get fired over, because it interferes with YouTube's core business model of letting anyone, anywhere, upload content at all times.

There is something to this point. I don't know about nowadays but escorts very commonly had YouTube videos.

The reason why they target alt right people these days is because the liberal haters spam report them. If you get enough reports they often ban you and wait for you to appeal or protest it.

People that actually want to watch little children playing in a sandbox are probably watching a video with less than a 1000 views and likely zero down votes. When you watch niche stuff on YouTube, often times no haters are aware of it. Certain music like electronic music is a very good example. Or like I mentioned earlier a 300lb escort talking cute about herself and her services in code talk.

I wouldn't be so quick to say they are horrified, in fact I'm betting for many of the people there, they are actually turned on by both the sexual suggestions as well as the detrimental effect it has on society and the children themselves. These people are sick, and they have tons of cash and lawyers just as debased ready to defend them.

Remember it wasn't even six months ago that an 11 year old drag queen was featured on Good Morning America, a broadcast television dinosaur. Why would the perspective really be any different in the globo-homo tech mecca of Silicon Valley?

I'd be willing to bet that guy's video was demonetized over his swearing. If they can find the time to do that, you can be sure they could just as easily obliterate the suggestive pedo content he and others did them the favor of pointing out, yet they choose not to. One of those videos had well over a million views - it's all about the Benjamins, don't you know.

They even found a way to demonetize the crazy lady PETA supporter who shot up their headquarters for making far less controversial content. She was pissed that a nearly identical video from Miley Cyrus was not demonetized, but she got no answer from the unaccountable NPCs in cubicles. She had a lot of other mental problems, but that small part was a legit grievance - though even shooting them up didn't change anything.

One thing I found striking part way through was the bit where it showed the minimum age for creating a YouTube channel - the US was the lowest at 13. I did not see any other country listed that let the brainwashing start that early. It's almost as if YouTube (Google) knows damned well how important it is to start forming habits as early as possible.

I'm with Jeffery. It's very easy to target political opponents using algorythms: all you need is six names - then you draw a network diagram to see who they're connected to - now you have 200 names. You figure out who are the important nodes in that network (usually not the most popular ones) and you silence them, eliminating the communication within it.

The YouTube pedos, meanwhile, never get noticed. They're not vying for attention - they're just watching low-view count videos, and leaving creepy comments. Hey, even if we ran YouTube - would these obscure creeps be our first concern? They'd be far outside of our peripherals, too, because there's no reason to pay attention to an isolated subculture, not from a business perspective.

What bothers me is how Tumblr didn't bother to create a sting operation; instead they just banned all content. Seems like a stupid business move in my books.

Walt Disney Co. is said to have pulled its advertising spending from YouTube, joining other companies including Nestle SA, after a blogger detailed how comments on Google’s video site were being used to facilitate a “soft-core pedophilia ring.” Some of the videos involved ran next to ads placed by Disney and Nestle.

All Nestle companies in the U.S. have paused advertising on YouTube, a spokeswoman for the company said Wednesday in an email. Video game maker Epic Games Inc. and German packaged food giant Dr. August Oetker KG also said they had postponed YouTube spending after their ads were shown to play before the videos. Disney has also withheld its spending, according to people with knowledge of the matter, who asked not to be identified because the decision hasn’t been made public.

On Sunday, Matt Watson, a video blogger, posted a 20-minute clip detailing how comments on YouTube were used to identify certain videos in which young girls were in activities that could be construed as sexually suggestive, such as posing in front of a mirror and doing gymnastics. Watson’s video demonstrated how, if users clicked on one of the videos, YouTube’s algorithms recommended similar ones. By Wednesday, Watson’s video had been viewed more than 1.7 million times.

“Any content --including comments -- that endangers minors is abhorrent and we have clear policies prohibiting this on YouTube. We took immediate action by deleting accounts and channels, reporting illegal activity to authorities and disabling violative comments,” a spokeswoman for YouTube said in an email.

Total ad spending on the videos mentioned was less than $8,000 within the last 60 days, and YouTube plans refunds, the spokeswoman said.

Two years ago, several major advertisers pulled spending from YouTube, the video site owned by Alphabet Inc.’s Google, after ads surfaced next to extremist and violent content. YouTube has also faced criticism for hosting inappropriate videos meant for kids. Google took several steps over the past two years to reassure advertisers about the problem. Many of the brands that boycotted YouTube, including Procter & Gamble Co. and AT&T Inc., have since returned to buying ads on the site.

YouTube on Tuesday released an updated policy about how it will handle content that “crosses the line” of appropriateness.

Good. The net would be a better place if Google shut down YouTube, and somebody else took over video hosting.

Note that this supports the contention that it was a random creation of the algorithm; not a planned campaign by Google.

I tested it with a new burner account, and didn't have to enter any search terms at all. Clicked on a suggested swimsuit contest thumbnail (legitimate legal age proper swimsuit contest) among all sorts of popular random funny and cat videos in the first few rows of suggestions. 2 more clicks to the actual videos he uses as examples. They've all got millions of views.
