Why would white people have any disadvantages lol, especially in a place like south east asia. I bet any thai girl or nordic tourist would choose a tall well-built white guy over an Asian guy like youngmobileglobal anyday if it were to come to that. From what i understand, they do rule the world lol and thats not going to change.

It's easy to spot the reactions of white American guys in Europe, esp. in popular tourist cities like Paris, when they see some gorgeous French girl walking around hand-in-hand with a black or Asian guy.

It's like a frag grenade has been thrown and exploded onto their racial world-view and the confused/stupefied expressions of their faces is hard to not notice.

Most of the world is not as f*cked up as the U.S. when it comes to racial-sexual hang-ups.

Unfortunately, a lot of the twisted US attitudes are now being exported abroad to places around the world ever since the fall of the iron curtain.

After a comment like that, Ohiogang, you're going to have a hard time justifying that you are not a race troll. This is not the first time I've seen you make racist comments about Asians on this forum.

------------------

Seems like there are a lot of race trolls still on the forum. Just report the post YM and don't let it ruin your day.

I can see why you would fair better then white guys there. Please correct me if I am wrong but there is somewhat of a stigma for Thais dating white men. A lot may be seen as bar girls even if they are well off women.

I think its more likely the stench of the vinegar of that chip on your shoulder that is causing the funny looks mate. The level of assumption in that post, RACIST ASSUMPTION, is disgusting. That post lacks congruency and its a blatant lie.

What are you doing all day? Sitting on a bench playing spot the white american tourist? I think chances are you you just noticed that Parisians tend to be a little more liberal (they are not obsessed with race like you are) and the first thing you thought to yourself is that the white american tourists must hate seeing this. You believe it to be true because you have a fixation on this stuff, so you decided to embellish and say that you have seen it constantly.

Anyone with half a brain would see you for the bullshitter you are.

You are clearly obsessed with race. I just went through your post history and discussions related to race attract you like a moth to a flame. You are no better than the racist hicks you despise so much when you label entire groups of people like you just did, especially when its patently not true.

I cannot take you seriously. You have too many hang ups and your perceptions are unreliable as a result.

There is a cultural preference in Asia for Asian men, its just that white men tend to offer a lot and are seen as desirable so have no major disadvantages. This is no secret and there is nothing wrong with it either. Im sure the white people on this forum are man enough to accept that.

Im also equally sure that if there was an outspoken cultural preference for white men in Eastern Europe (there is), there would be abject cries of racism on this board and we would have the peanut gallery coughing and spluttering about what evil bigots all the Eastern Europeans are.

Double standards.

I'm not really sure what you mean by entertained. Keep in mind I've only been here like 10 days at this point and had a handful of friends here before I arrived - this made a big difference.

Apologies YMG, I normally do my best to avoid this sort of nonsense, it just really rubbed me up the wrong way. Not your post, there was nothing wrong with it at all by any means and there was nothing malicious about your observations, more the posts that followed it that tried to take advantage of the position.

You dont deserve to see it derailed like this.

There really are a few sad individuals that roam these parts. I dont think they realise how many people have no time for people who make a big deal of race constantly. The minute I am in the company of someone who makes an issue about race or constantly complains of offense, Ill excuse myself from their company. I really cant stomach the negativity, victim mentality and weakness it conveys.

The nightlife is definitely tamer than what you'd find in Bangkok - although if a guy was looking for bargirls those are easy to find.

The foreign girls here are nowhere near as attractive as the ones I've seen in Bangkok and Phuket but, again, I need to see more stuff here to really get perspective.

My main priorities while I"m here are to focus on business and muay thai - so those are two of the reasons I like Chiang Mai so much. The quality of the Thai women has shot up dramatically as well. It really depends on your priorities.

Chiang Mai is also beautiful. You should see the sun set against the backdrop of the mountains - stunning.

I meant mainly nightlife, restaurants, stuff like that. I get bored easily.

Most of next year I will be based in Manila learning pekiti tirsia kali. I enjoy spending more time in countries (compared to a couple weeks) to really get a feel for the country and would like to add martial arts training as part of my daily grind.

I was thinking of sneaking off to Thailand for 3 months and might as well take up some muay thai there which begs the question where I should set up my base. Maybe spend two months training and one month traveling sort of thing.

Your posts have helped a lot.

Right, it's true. I pity those types more than get enraged at them really. Usually there is a pretty sad reason why they're lashing out at the world in the first place.

Having said that, I don't have room for that kind of attitude/behavior in my life - if I spent all my time dealing with haters, I'd go insane.

There's some quote that goes something like, "The best way to be unsuccessful is to try to satisfy everyone, all the time."

That's cool - I personally feel like I would have a hard time living in the Philippines that long, but my only experience there was Manila, so my opinion is biased.

I think two months training, one month traveling, is a good idea. I've found that most people who end up in places like Phuket/Bangkok/Pattaya get extremely distracted by the nightlife in those places and have a hard time staying focused. It certainly happened to me and I consider myself an extremely disciplined person. Thailand just makes most people fly off the handle because every day is Saturday here.

I would suggest Chiang Mai for two months for training. You have all the nightlife here if you want it, but it's not constantly in your face and everywhere. You can stay in and focus on training/work if necessary.

Then, take a month to hit up Phuket/PhiPhi or Bangkok/Pattaya. Phiphi is a short boat ride from Phuket and you can party with Swedish tourist chicks. Alternatively, you can take a one hour bus ride from Bangkok for about 3-5 bucks to Pattaya and go experience the insanity over there.

Your options really are limitless here.

I'm increasingly considering not returning to China for my career. I've got a wealth of entrepreneurial options on the table at the moment that revolve around SE Asia and my network down here. Within SE Asia, Chiang Mai is currently hands-down my favorite.

I think that if you showed up here for the first time, you would have a hard time understanding why I like Chiang Mai so much. You have to get jaded by Bangkok and Phuket first to appreciate Chiang Mai.

I've also noticed you have a psychological complex when it comes to racial discussions, constantly displaying a "crucified white male victim" syndrome. What's wrong? Black guy fuck your wife while you were at work?

I can't take you seriously either, and actually, have the itch to throw an elbow into the side of your face, but of course, being the keyboard bullshitter that you think I am, I guess you have no need to worry.

Now run along and let the grown-ups talk.

Glad to see the thread getting back on track, not surprised your enjoying Chiang Mai YMG, an amazing place. I really enjoyed my time in Thailand but I fell in love with CM.

Hope to get back there next year, rent an apartment for a few months and use it as a base for travel and getting work done. Where abouts are you staying?

Tiger Kingdom was amazing, highlight for me was playing with two 5 months old cubs. Definitely check out the elephant ride, I went solo and ended up sharing my elephant with a smoking hot English backpacker - after meeting up for drinks we ended up sharing my bed for the night before I flew to Hanoi the next day. Flight of the Gibbon zip-lining was a good day out as well.
Also head up to Doi Suthep, amazing view down to Chiang Mai - sadly I got a songthaew up and a taxi down, but it would be a fun ride up on a scooter.
Sunday night walking street market from Thapae Gate up to Wat Phra Sing is great, not as bad as the regular tourist trap night bazaar. Amazing street food can be found in many of the wats during the market as well, a local draged me around on a great date. Warorot Market is the place for real local experience.
If you head to the the Loi Kroh Muay Thai dont make my mistake and be grabed at the entrance by a ladyboy offering 400baht ringside seats. You will be sitting in front of the only ladyboy bar and they will be all over you all night long.

I am loving the markets. Still have not done tigers and elephants yet though.

Another thing I love about Chiang Mai is the ease with which I can eat highly nutritious meals for an incredibly low price.

My lunch:

-2 giant freshly squeezed/blended carrot, celery, beetroot, and apple shakes
-Chicken yakitori, mixed vegetables

Under three bucks!

Those shakes are the best. It's like drinking a salad that costs you a buck.

Hey YMG,

Do you think it is a good place for a beginner to pick up chicks?
What kind of difficulty will someone have at Chiang Mai with absolutely no experience with the game?
