Got the HIV... Warning to RVFers

Sorry to hear bro.

What’s the next step for you ? Would you consider dating a woman with hiv also ?

Actually I have had a gf for the past 1.5 years or so. Hardest part was telling her about it. Luckily she tested negative, if she tested positive I would have married her.

Why is the VDRL negative (nonreactive) if you are HIV+? I assume that is the HIV test.

Oh wait, that’s syphillis. Never mind.

So where does it actually say you are HIV+? Or is it only deduced from the low CD4?

Another page of that report states my viral load which was 156,000 at the time (currently <50)

I have another lab report when they tested my blood with the ELISA and CMIA assays which shows a reactive result. Would have to dig it up.

Is it necessary to post? It is impossible for anyone to have those CD4 values without HIV.

His lymphocytes and neutrophils are also off, which are indicators of HIV.

A normal CD4 number is 500-1500.

They indicate infection not necessarily HIV. I have done tests in the past when i was negative where my WBC was out of range due to acute illness.

What’s your age range ?

Did they offer you growth hormone ?

Nah, I believe you now. I checked my own recent results and the names of the test assays are the same. Mine’s negative though.

Early 30s.

Growth hormone for what exactly? It was mainly prescribed before the HAART era when wasting was an issue. These days wasting is pretty uncommon unless your viral strain is resistant to the current meds. Fortunately thats not an issue for me.

The doctors here are pretty conservative. If i want to do anything non-traditional I will likely have to self medicate. I might actually move to Thailand for the easy access to pharma drugs.

At this point in time I think it's clear that wrapyojunk is HIV+ and his medical records need to be removed ASAP. Next time something like this arises, I think it would be best that this be done via PM with written consent. Lord knows how much scrutiny this place receives and HIPAA privacy violations are the last thing we need here given all the drama of the last week and a half.

Wrap, I'm assuming you're on the HIV drug protocol now, is that right?

Do you know which type of immunoassay they ran? Maybe they didn`t use the latest technique? It`s true that low t-cells can indicate many things. There`s individual, racial and gender differences in the first place. Also latent viruses like CMV and Epstein-Barr can have an effect. Wouldn`t hurt to do some more immunoassay tests, and to shop around for the best labs to do them.

We will stomp to the top with the wind in our teeth.

Yeah I take one pill a day, ongoing costs is around $100 a month. The viral load is undetectable and my CD4 count is above 500.

Still getting over the depression and I socially isolated myself for a while. Things aren't so bad though.

Have you given/gave blood recently or messed with injection drugs?

I'll also add anal sex is the most unnatural sex you can have. It's disgusting, unnatural, and rips the skin on your dick.

Team #NoButtSex!

My condolences OP.

Fortunately, treatment of HIV has come a long way and the drugs are so amazing how they can drive your viral load to undetectable. 20 years ago this would have been a death sentence.

How are the sides on the medication? Are they as knarly as they used to be with the earlier generation meds or are they not too bad?

For the first few weeks had some nausea but apart from that nothing noticable.

I have experienced some fatigue from tiime to time but that could be due to the depression caused by the diagnosis or even from the virus itself. Hard to tell.

Back in the AZT days the sides were terrible. Even 10 years ago when Atripla was the main med the sides were pretty awful.

The med im on is Genvoya.

Seems to me you`ve done the right things up until now, and I wish you the best of luck. I would still consider the telomerase activators though. It`s a complicated subject, but worth looking in to. The antiretrovirals are still quite toxic in the long run.

I will definitely look into it. I will explore as many alternative treatment options as possible.

OP, I am sorry to hear this. I took PEP for a month after I partied a tad too hard in asia (Doctor advised against it because only chicks but I was paranoid). That shit is no joke. I hope you don't get sides and that indeed a cure is developed soon.

Do you know a study that shows the odds per encounter if a chick has a high viral load?

Right, I misstated. I meant to write that it is possibly an indicator of HIV.

So how's your quality of life these days? How has the quality of the medical treatment been?

The PEP is brutal I've heard. I was working on an HIV+ patient once and I stuck myself with an instrument I was using on him. Doctor offered me to go on the PEP but I was going through my divorce at the time and I knew the sides were hideous so after researching the odds and knowing that the patient was on the meds with an undetectable viral load I took a chance and played the odds. It was a scary 3 months that I had to wait to get tested and it was negative but in light of this, I think I need to go back and get tested again.

Hard to tell. I guess my heath was deteriorating over the past 3 years and I wasnt even aware of it because it was so gradual.

I sleep well and eat super heathy. Main thing is the depression but I think that is more psychological than anything else.

PEP is basically the same HAART treatment that most HIV patients are on.

For me the sides werent really noticable. However, most experience sides for the first month or 2 and then they go away.

Well thanks for telling your story and putting up your labs in public. I remember when I thought I had it, I thought my whole life was going to come crashing down. I remember thinking that if my result comes back positive, the divorce I was going through was going to be the least of my problems. I told my oldest son, daughter and my sister what had happened and I remember breaking down crying on my sons lap. I told my dad once I got the negative result and he was in total shock. To this day I still haven't told my mom what happened to me as she would just die with anxiety. I feel your pain man, I really do.

Sorry to hear this bro, best of luck pushing through.

Golden rule is to wrap that bad boy, in Asia, there are many girls semi-pro, and its hard to know who has had hundreds of dicks that month.

Golden rule: Never bareback Asia
