Well, that was kinda disappointing, guy got about 46% of the votes, he needed 50%. Now he will face Venezuelan regime supporter Fernando Haddad in the second round.
Haddad is considered one of the worst mayors the city of São Paulo ever had and an apologist of the convicted corrupt ex-president Lula da Silva.

Luckly Bolsonaro will most likely win second round, as he needs only 4% more of the valid votes.

For State, Senate, and Congress positions the commies got fucked hard tho. Basically every candidate BolsoMito appointed or that supported him openly got a MAJOR surge in the votes. Many of the commies are deep into corruption scandals and losing seats makes them more vulnerable to being arrested, just like Lula

Tyler Durden's take at ZeroHedge is more upbeat on Bolsonaro first round win

For one thing, look at polls climbing from 22% in early September, to 32% less than a week ago, to 44% in the final polls, to nearly 47% actual.

The trend is your friend! Some pull quotes from ZH:
Quote:Quote:

Roughly 90 minutes after the last polls closed in the country's western-most provinces, 95% of votes have been counted. The result: a landslide win in favor of Bolsonaro, who took home an impressive 46.8% of the vote, according to Brazil's TV Globo.

That means that in a sign of great news for Braziliang stocks as the threat of a leftist shift has been avoided, Bolsonaro outperformed even the most optimistic polls and nearly won a first-round victory outright. But since Brazil's constitution calls for a runoff vote if no candidate wins an outright majority, it's expected that Bolsonaro, a former military officer and federal lawmaker, will face off against Worker's Party candidate Fernando Haddad, former mayor of Sao Paulo and Lula's proxy, in a runoff vote set for Oct. 28.

There's still an outside chance that center-left candidate Ciro Gomes could overtake Haddad in the final vote count, though according to the FT, that outcome is unlikely....

[AND PRIOR TO THE ABOVE UPDATE:]
While no candidate is expected to win an outright majority - which means the top two finishers will face off in a second-round vote on Oct. 28 - federal congressman Jair Bolsonaro, a far right candidate who has divided the country with his sympathetic comments about Brazil's 20-year military dictatorship, has pulled ahead in recent polls, with some placing his support as high as 44%.

Meaning that after years of leftist rule, followed by a brief period of tepid centrism, a man who has embraced the label "the Brazilian Donald Trump" is poised to win a presidential election, bringing the global populist anti-establishment movement to South America.
https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-10-0...ing-begins

Sure, it's not outright victory for Bolsanaro. But there's a lot to be happy about going forward to the final outcome on the coming 28th.

Here's further detail forming the base of optimism from Reuters, "Bolsonaro transforms tiny Brazil party into congressional powerhouse:"
Quote:Quote:

Sunday’s strong showing for Bolsonaro allies in legislative elections defied many pollsters’ forecasts and suggests the formerly undistinguished congressman could have an easier-than-expected time garnering support for tough economic reforms.

Bolsonaro’s once-tiny Social Liberal Party (PSL) was poised to land 51 of the 513 seats in the lower house of Congress, according to projections by investment firm XP Investimentos, trailing only his rival Fernando Haddad’s leftist Workers Party (PT), which is expected to take 57 seats.

That would be explosive growth for a party with only eight lower house seats and no presence in the Senate before the vote.

“The PSL is a new chapter in the political history of Brazil. It’s a group that embraces a single thesis of fiscal austerity, of small government, of pension reform,” said Lucas de Aragão, a partner at political consulting firm Arko Advice.

He said that the PSL’s growth improves the prospects for fiscal reforms, but acknowledged that they will still face “furious” opposition from the Workers Party.

The pendulum is swining! Worldwide!

The PT (hard commie left) will double down and go all guns blazing, but i am sure that Bolsonaro will have an adequate response.
He needs to keep his base and get at least 4% more for the win.

As a Portuguese I am extremely happy to see that almost half of Brasil is fed up with commies and corruption. Maybe it can send a sign to Portugal as well.

Yea it won't be easy to get the extra 4 to 5% he needs to get a win, seeing as though all the other candidates are leftist, thus, their voters are unlikely to vote for Bolsonaro. Plus Brazilian celebrities now have 3 weeks to continue the elenao shaming campaign.
Bolsonaro has to stay healthy, if he wants to win. Him being absent for multiple weeks obviously hurt his chances overall and if not for that incident, he would have won already, in my opinion.

I love how words us lot have been using for years like "cultural marxism" are now used by mainstream figures, be it Bannon, this guy, or Trump Jr. In the not too distant future you might have a president or prime minister saying "(((them)))" haha.

There were two other candidates that got the right-wing vote: Amoedo and Daciolo. About 4%
Plus there are other people who didn't want PT or Bolsonaro and voted for some center/left like Alckmin (or Ciro or Meirelles or Dias), but still prefer Bolsonaro over PT. Remember that the political center is arbitrary. Far-left and right are the same distance from center-left for people that have no ideology. Honestly, Haddad only gets votes mainly because poor and uneducated poor are affraid of losing handouts. It's not because they support any political movement really.

Olavo de Carvalho, brazilian right-wing intellectual (the only one?), has talked about Cultural Marxism for decades. By the way, this term originated in academia even before the 90's.

Not winning in the first round is an anti-climax, I agree. However, there are many silver-linings.
Many leftist historic leaders, such as Lindembergh and Suplicy, were expelled from the Senate. To draw a comparison, it is like if Nancy Pelosi and Bernie Sanders didn't get reelected. Still in the Senate, Dilma was not elected, while Janaina Paschoal is the most voted lawmaker of all times. This weakens the narrative of the coup. Therefore, that has a massive historical weight.
In the Lower House, things got even better. I confess that I underestimated the power of Bolsonaro in empowering local figures. His party went from nothing to the second biggest power in the house.
Moreover, many hidden leftists who always get the votes of conservatives, like FHC, will support Haddad. This will force them to show their real character, which is great. Making another comparison, it is like if Joe Biden is forced to support Hillary Clinton, so everybody sees that he is a Soros' puppet.

Oh, I'm fully aware nobody here or in our circles invented the term... but our generation certainly popularised it to the point of normie usage.

The pro left votes came mostly from poorer regions of the northeast and northwest, whereas the financially more stable regions were predominantly in favor of Bolsonaro.

Marine Le Pen yesterday:
"I don't see Bolsonaro as a far-right candidate, he says extremely unpleasant things that are insurmountable in France. The cultures are different."
Sounds cucked, but I don't blame her yet. The situation here is VERY complex and probably she has only access to a few translations of his phrases.
She probably doesn't know the other side is the marxist Worker's Party, which supports Venezuela, which all leaders are or recently were in Jail.

Let me add some context here:

It was in 2005, she is not a reporter, she was (and still is) a House Representative (he was and still is).

She is pro "human rights" she was saying a rapist of 16 years old should be put in jail for 3 months (because of stupid law in brazil that only allows criminals to face long time in jail after 18 year old).

Bolsonaro said he was totally agaisnt it. He is very "a good criminal is a dead criminal". It's one thing that earned him a lot of popularity.

Then she called him a rapist.

This is one of the most epic video of him, probably got him at least 10% of popularity he has now.

About the phrases you see in Heartiste: I realized here is still waaay less toxic "politically correct" environment than the USA. Lefties almost die after hearing those phrases lol, but normal people don't give a fuck.

He is leading the pools 59% against 41%.

Very unlikely this will be changed, all votes the left had in first round are already on the other side (41%).

One week left. Bolsonaro holds the lead comfortably.
The Workers Party is trying to put the electoral process in doubt by accusing Bolsonaro of using private money to spread fake news through Whatsapp. In Brazil, Whatsapp is more popular than Twitter or Facebook.
Many leftstits are putting pressure on the Workers Party to withdraw from the campaign and not the recognize Bolsonaro victory in the polls next week. This tactic is very common in some African countries and have never been used in Brazil. I say there is a 50% chance that the WP won't recognize Bolsonaro triumph.
Bolsonaro is already talking as president. He moderated his speech and is asking supporters to avoid physical confrontation.
Some artists are finally showing courage to support Bolsonaro. Others are radicalizing and calling him a Nazi. As Trump election has shown, radicalization won't end with the election results. We will see many broken skulls in the future.

Guys, I'm not a gamer. I will ask the opinion of gamers on the body language of the reporter in this video.
For those who don't know, Folha de São Paulo is Brazil most important newspaper. It follows a "new left" trend. Therefore, its writers are mostly feminists, ecologists, lgbts, lovers of French intellectualism etc.
I think it is unnecessary to say they are in a fierce campaign against Bolsonaro, although they claim to be neutral.
A year ago, when Bolsonaro was a mere lawmaker, a reporter from Folha de São Paulo interviewed him. She was supposed to put pressure on him.
Let's analyse her body language. Look how she touches her hair, how she bites her lips, how she laughs, how she stares at him.
I think she wants his d...
What do you think?

Hahahaha that video is hilarious, the girl is completely lost, almost like a kid pretending to be a journalist for his school project.
Bolsonaro is no expert corporate salesman like Trump but still embarassingly outclasses her.

Hard to say if she is attracted to him or just goofy and oblivious, the funny editing in the video also gives a biased vibe, but again, I'm no high level player either..
