Great report Gringo, I'm always happy to hear about former USSR country with Slavic ethnic girls.
Would considering checking out this place after the Ukraine.
I saw you wrote about crossing from Iasi, Romania, I actually heard good thing about this city from Romanian guys, have you been there and can share your experience?

I have not been, but I will head there on this trip, maybe this week. I've heard nothing but good. It's right on the Moldovan border and reputed to be very good for women. I've heard this from Romanians in Bucharesti and Moldovans here.

Its pure hit and miss on the language. My opener is "English?", with a big smile.

Using the same opener in Kharkov, and it works great for me. One thing I like about this opener is that if she has a boyfriend or is not interested, she can just say "no" even if she knows some English. It works as a nice filter.

Athlone, I was watching the video of Moldovan girls and I was feeling like shit for being in Toronto.
I scrolled down and I no longer felt bad. Thats what University of Toronto's Engineering department looks like! Thankfully the U of T frats downtown are filled with decent quality and low competition with lots of girls from other schools.

I feel for you man, keep your head up and make a ton of cash! Someday I'll buy you a beer for being such a trooper and surviving your school. I think you and Mystik are the biggest troopers on this forum(maybe Aliblahba too for those 6 months work sessions).

Good report Lost Gringo! While in the Philippines last January, I met a German guy who was raving to me about Moldova and the girls there. The stories he told me and the pictures he showed me left me speechless. Ever since, it's high on my list to hit in EE. Btw, are you able to get by everywhere with just English? Or do you get into situations where you feel that even a bit of Moldovan/Romanian would be a deal sealer? Thanks man and keep on rocking it there!

Dateline Chisinau; Monday night update. (mostly non-pussy discussion)

Sometimes I feel like I'm in a Fellini movie here. Its such a back water, but at the same time, really happening. I've discovered a city park, developed around two small lakes, and there is a very nice, rustic resto built along the bank of one. Its down right bucolic.....I love the place, and have gone everyday for all-day lunch for the past 3 days. The aforementioned Russians I met yesterday, turned me on to the national dish called; "mamaliga tocana", which is dish based on polenta, sheeps cheese, sour cream and a meat stir-fry of sorts. It's off the fucking hooking hook - and I'm a food snob. It's a little slice of paradise, and there are always a few hotties there to look at. It takes me about 40 minutes to walk there, and the women I pass and smile at......no more superlatives. Its a good gig here, and I'm going to figure out a way to spend part of the year here.

(pussy discussion) Saturday night I ran into two guys from Amerika. One living in St. Petersburg and the other in Paris. Heavy money types (and arrogant). Well, we met up for drinks this evening in a bar I discovered Sunday night. This is THE bar here. Called "Sensi", it gets the top level talent in town. The models of the models. Well, turns out that two gringos and I share some common (dodgy) pasts so there is good connection. I arrived early and awaited my drinking companions at a 4-top, in a bar that was starting to fill up - with stupid hot (and local neuvo riche - not my style) women.

My new friends arrive and it turns out that one is a fashion photographer and the other and I-banker. Fashion photo man informs me that he and banker friend banged two of the three women I was holding court with (confirmed with i-Phone videos) before dumping them and heading to another venue (where I did pull). Thus, they were in fine form and full of good stories of nasty Mold'o'girls. Turns out the girls I was with (and they banged) were strippers, who boned them for free. As I said before, you can get lazy here, very easy.

Cut to the chase, the discussion soon turns to "where are the best looking women in the world". Mind you, we decided that between the three of us, we've got over 80 countries and most of them were duplicates of course. And remember, one guy is living in St. Petersburg.

We all agreed on Chisinau. No shit.

Dammm Gringo, I was online booking my overnight train ticket to Chisinau.

However, Iasi or Cluj might work for me as well. I'm in Bucharest planning my "get away" from here. I don't want to waste my upcoming party weekend on what I've been seeing so far - chicks with nothing but $$$ on their mind. Seems like there quite a few ballers out here that have also spoiled these chicks just like in Toronto.

Toronto Kid, your dead on about UofT. You brought out some memories of the "good old" days for me being a "tour guide" for visiting honeys. Probably one of the reasons why my ass is all the way over here in Romania.

With all due respect sir. How can Moldavians/Romanians in Chisinau be be any more hotter than girls in Bucharest and rest of Romania? It dosen´t make any sense, really.

And I can´t blame on the food. Because it´s exactly the same food Romanians are eating..

I know a hooker from Moldova turning tricks for $20 in Bulgaria. Guess the going rate in Moldova was lower if she chose to work abroad.
Also know several students who can get a visa and work for several months at the Bulgarian beach resorts... mostly guys I play beach volleyball with - no girls. But the guys seem to like their summer jobs that pay like $500 a month, so again - the going rate must be lower back home.

With all that, I can imagine that an American dude with some cash to flash would do quite well.

Let me put it this way; what do you get when you breed a Romanian and a Russian, with the occasional Ukranian mixed in? A Moldovan. I'm open to anyone who can describe a better ethnic cocktail.

Fair point and I agree that the bashing does little good. However, in my defense, my heaviest bashing is reserved for my country - the worst of the offenders when it comes to being boorish, ignorant and myopic. The "bashing" is also a gut reaction to a disturbing trend that I see in many of the countries that I visit in pursuit of women. It's certainly a generalization, but most stereotypes are born of some truth. Perhaps the real bashing ought to be reserved for the internet itself, and the discount airline industry - both of which have conspired to create a surge of men traveling the planet and looking for the same thing.

Given what I just wrote, why the hell am I thus writing this review on a public forum?

Any way gentlemen. This will about do it for the Chisinau report.

One final free travel tip. I travel internationally very often. I have never had this problem before, but it was an eye opener. At the airport in Munich, where I was to board my flight to Chisinau, I obviously had to pass through emigration as I was leaving the EU. The young German female officer looked through my passport looking for my EU entry stamp, which was France/CDG a week before. Not finding it, she began to question me about my length of stay in the EU. I had a copy of my transatlantic itinerary, but that wasn't near sufficient. I then had the vague recollection of a very lazy officer in Paris/CDG pressing hard on the stamp - as if it had little ink on it and it just stuck out in my mind. So, I have extra pages in my passport, its 8 years old and there are probably over 150 stamps in the fucking thing. My flight departs in an hour. The supervisor gets called and the big powwow begins. I ask them about my entry being in a data base, as they run the passports through a scanner now. Nope, system doesn't communicate (very good to know!). I then went to a little office, got out a magnifying glass and spent the next 30 minutes looking for this mystery stamp, which I finally found. It was so faint as to be almost invisible. I made my flight with a couple of minutes to spare. I was, to it mildly, incredulous.

Lesson learned. Be aware of the stamp, be sure its legible before you leave the booth and made a mental note of where it is. I would have been fined heavily as being illegal had I not found that stamp. And I would have missed my flight and a non-changeable ticket would have been lost to the tune of $400.

One more bash; Lazy Fucking French bureaucrats!

Yep you get drunk Brits, loud obnoxious Americans, perverted Turks.
I get most pissed off with the American and German tourists, but what can you do, it's a diverse world.

I can understand people hating on English tourists though, the worst ones tend to bethe Northern English heathens

Chisinau, Moldova Report

A quick observation from Chisinau. I have befriended a group of dental students from last weekend. Among them are 3 Palestinians, all of who are very Arab-looking. Our discussions have included life as a swarthy hombre, here in the land of fair-haired ladies. From all reports, these guys - who are mid-twenties, and ranging from rough to decent looking are having the times of their lives - also to a man, are good shits. They have to work a bit harder no doubt, but they seem to be doing well here. Only complaint is the occasional reaction from ethnic Russians, same as you might find in Ukraine and Russia. I've seen two of their GF's and they are hot - I'd sure hit it. To hit a 10/9 here you have to be prepared to sponsor the chica and/or are the property of the local rich. 8's and below seem to be open season. All will want to know your reason for being here, as the sex tourist stigma has arrived. "American businessman, working via internet" - should work fine if you have some panache.

Plus. Few of these women can get EU visas, much less USA visas. Thus, other than working in the Gulf/Russia or holidays in Turkey/Ukraine, they are only exposed to the dreaded west via people like me. These are good people - they have been through a world of pain in the past 20 years compliments of Yeltsin and the oligarch bandits. Most of them live tough lives, but manage to make the best of it and slog on. Treat them with respect and kindness - it will come back 5-fold.

Negative. This place is done in 5 years - max.

I am currently in Translyvania about a 4 hour train ride from Bucharest. The plan was to head to Bucharest tomorrow. I then read this report and suddenly Bucharest isn't such an easy call. I have 10 to 14 days and can't help but wonder...Bucharest or Chisinau? Has anybody been to both that could help me with this decision? I am from the US and only speak English. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I have been to both places. I would start with Bucharesti - it's a bigger city, a lot more to do, more international (more English), etc. Girls are plenty hot and easy there. Chisinau is a smaller, more provincial city. The best way to play this place would be to come and spend a few months and learn a little Romanian, get to be known around the clubs, make a few friends, etc. Ultimately though, Chisinau would yield better results. There is a serious shortage of decent men in this country.

LostGringo - thanks for the feedback. Your reply echoes how I feel about cities in Russia and Ukraine. I couldn't help but glance at Couch Surfing to sample the talent in Chisinau. In my personal opinion, it blows away Bucharest (scrolled for a long time just to send out 3 emails). However, I can't judge two cities based on CS so I will have to see with my own eyes. thanks again.

Yet, 85% of all Chisinau girls on CS got Romanian names? And many look very Romanian. So you should not judge race, nations, nor culture by surfing.
