World Cup 2018

Love the footy but not super keen on forking out a fortune to go a game. I prefer to watch it on the telly with a beer in my hand.

I am currently thinking about solid WC broadcasting destinations. I was actually thinking about Pattaya as there should be plenty of live coverage given how many British oriented pubs are present.

I don't personally feel the need to travel to a host country - done that for Germany 2006 and while it was good I am sure I would have had a good time anywhere else.

I strongly disagree. I was at the Euros in Austria and Ukraine and at the World Cups in Germany and South Africa. Except in Ukraine I managed to get laid at least once during all the other tournaments. Of course ratios are not good at all but 95% of football supporters are either married, just want to get drunk and party, or doing P4P and strip clubs.

On the other side locals can get out of their boring lifestyle with events and parties going on everyday in their boring cities and everyone is in an almost holiday kind of mood. Furthermore lots of countries have quite a high female ratio of supporters. Go to the cities where Sweden, Colombia, Brazil are playing.

On another note. There is currently the last minute ticket sale going on. It is a first come first serve sale so if you want easy access into Russia for over a month just buy a ticket for some group game and go to any city you want.

OK, it is true that most football fans, while male, will not be competition! Still though, the night before Germany-US in Recife, the clubs were a huge sausage-fest, and not worth setting foot it. I still had fun in Brazil, as I wrote, but I think I've enjoyed my other trips to South America just as much or almost as much. It's true that the party atmosphere helps.

Can you give me more info? I didn't get it.

What I meant was that if you have a ticket to one game u can apply for a Fan ID which gives you visa free access to Russia for over a month before, during and after the World Cup. It does not matter if you go to the game or visit the city where the game is hosted.

For example right now there are tickets available for the game between Tunesia and Panama in Saranks. Shitty game but for someone who just needs an easy visa option it might be worth to buy that ticket.

Buying a match ticket allows you to buy a FAN ID. This allows you to enter Russia without a visa (technically the FAN ID is a visa) from the 4th June - 25th July if my memory is correct.

I'm heading to Moscow from June 11th-18th - I was initially planning to stay with a few guys at a friend's relative's home but it looks like that is going to fall through. Anyone have any advice on where to stay?

One match ticket is enough to get fan ID?

Best to take an overpriced Airbnb, which is still cheaper than an overpriced hotel.

no man, read this (from the fifa website)

*Visa-free entry and transport benefits *The FAN ID provides visa-free entry to Russia for foreign citizens that have purchased 2018 FIFA World Cup™ match tickets. Such fans will be able to enter and remain in the country during the period that starts ten (10) days before the first match and ends ten (10) days after the last match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™. Please note, that a FAN ID will be also required to leave Russia once it had been used for visa-free entry purposes. For more detailed information, please visit http://www.fan-id.ru.

Why, no?

We can go to Russia 10 days before, 10 days after, tournament take about a month, so in total 50 days without a visa.

From my understanding, you will need a FanID AND a valid match ticket to enter. With those, you can enter 10 days before and stay 10 days after the end of the tournament.

Whether they will enforce the need for match tickets at airports, who knows? You can always buy a ticket for some dud match in Saransk - no need to actually attend the game.

You need a ticket order ID to apply for the Fan ID. No order ID no application for a Fan ID. You do not even receive your tickets beforehand. I will need to pick them up at St Petersburg airport once we arrive.

ATM I've got extra tickets for France, Spain, and Germany group stages matches in Kazan (all CAT 1s). I'll sell to RVF guys at face value. With the ticket I'll provide the buyer a Ticket Request # which he can then use to get a Fan ID and enter Russia visa free.

PM for more details if you're interested.

Some of you guys seem confused/uncertain about the Fan ID process. All of the issues raised in this thread are clarified here: https://www.fan-id.ru/help.html

No, that won't be the case. Because the people who bought their tickets in the very last round recently, won't have it sent to them in their own respective countries, but rather have to pick it up at the Russian airport after arrival or in a fan zone at a pre-scheduled time.

Speaking of tickets, the delivery has started and anyone who got their tickets in phases 1, 2, or 3 of ticket sale should be getting it at their addresses within the next 2-3 weeks.

It has crossed my mind though, what happens to those who bought a ticket, got their Fan ID delivered, and now put their ticket on sale through FIFA website ?!

If my friend can buy 1 ticket from you, for example, can we change the name of the ticket, so he can apply for Fan ID?

No name changes, as the tickets were already printed with names on them.

But that does not matter, since your friend merely needs a ticket request number to apply for a Fan ID.

Go to the cities where Sweden, Colombia, Brazil are playing.

this is spot on. i went to Brazil and whilst the place was over run by foreign blokes who were on the prowl for the world cup i found that there was more than enough women to go around because the Brazilian women love foreigners and they all came out of the woodwork to join in on the fun.

When Australia played Holland in Porto Alegre we all went to a bar/club in the centre of town and the place was full of hot brazilian girls and they were all so keen for it. They just wanted their Australian flag. Within a few hours there was literally a queue of local girls waiting to get into the place. There were fairly average looking guys picking up stunners all over the place.

It didnt matter how old you were, if you were married or whatever, everyone was getting a piece of it. to be honest i've never seen anything like it. my best mate and i ended up doing a mother/daughter combination (i got the daughter and she was engaged so it took a bit of work but it was worth it!!). my mate did the mother in her car.

Rio was a little bit more difficult as foreigner value isn't quite as high and there was probably a larger concentration of guys in Rio. In saying that i was able to score a ONS there on my last night before flying out to Porto Alegre.

one thing i learned about Brazilian girls versus Australian or other western girls is that if you can't play it cool with them or you'll lose them to another guy. if you're working on a girl then you need to stick with her all night.. if you play it cool and go off looking around at other options then when you come back she'll be off with another guy. You have decide if you want her and if you do then you have to stick with her and then you'll be rewarded at the end of the night with a ONS most likely.

I expect Russia to be fairly similar, especially outside of places like Moscow.
