I know that some men think that dogs are just devolved free wolves, but do you ever wonder that the main reasons for the existence of dogs (and other close pets) is to teach us humans how to love better?

Been spending almost all my time these past few months on developing a skill that will allow me to be totally self sufficient with income. Well, I've been working on it for around five years, but really been going all out lately. At this point I probably have close to 7,500 hours into this. I think I'm ready, I'll find out if that's true very soon. Can't lie, it's pretty risky and I'm nervous, but it's either now or never if I'm actually going to go for it.

In the process I've been forced to fix my sleep schedule, admittedly with the aid of melatonin, and that's no small feat since I've been stuck up till 2-3 a.m. for awhile now. It feels great to be not only getting back to regular sleeping hours but to get more than 4-6 hours regularly. Also been eating healthier and cheaper, and I've been getting back into exercising, with cardio for now to try to help cut weight. Feeling pretty good at the moment, though I do miss lifting badly.

I've lost enjoyment in almost all the things I used to do for fun, and some music in the evening is all I do to wind down now. I don't think I've ever been this...driven, before. Not much else interests me right now besides achieving this. And cutting weight heh.

I think that this is their main job - and we humans still have a lot to learn in that regard.

I read a book call "a soul's journey" that claimed reincarnation was legit and that dogs, cats and other domesticated species were in the pre-human phase of their spiritual evolution.

Funny thing, we had two dogs at the time. They were brothers from the same litter. Anyway, when they were both pups one of them ate this book. Tore it to shreds. That dog ended up being by far the smarter of two. Wife and I always joked that "this dog is ready".

Ultimately, you don't own your possessions but rather your possessions own you. I am making a goal to physically declutter my life and reduce the amount of stuff I own. Goodwill, ebay, etc.

Today is Friday and the weekend is upon us. I'm going to have a good day at work today no matter what and parlay that into this weekend.

I would normally post this in the "manly thing you did today" thread but it can go here instead.

I cut a load of firewood today and this stuff is dense as hell. Per cubic foot it must be twice as heavy as the stuff I normally get. Feels great knowing that I won't have to go out a cut for weeks now, and I don't have to do any lifting today, that's for damn sure.

More importantly the trip out was taken with another local guy with the unspoken premise that it was an act of securing a future brotherhood.

My old dog is sleeping in front of the fireplace with a full stomach and I'm pretty sure there's no place in the world he'd rather be.

Feels good that without too much effort you can give another living creature an optimally happy existence.

I had a great weekend.

Most importantly I met some guys from the forum who were all great guys and a lot of fun to hang out with.

I'm traveling for a few weeks and I got hooked up with a sweet apartment at a discounted price.

There was a girl last night who creatively slipped me her phone number while she was with a mixed group of friends. I hadn't talked to her. I had just made a little eye contact. That was a nice confidence booster since I recently made some changes to my appearance.

Thanks to PapayaTapper for starting this thread. He's always been one of my favorite guys on this forum.

Its a Ferrari engine. This thing was so damn fast.

I took my sister and my mum (and her bf) out for dinner last night. First time I'd met the bf. Good guy. I paid for everyone. So I have this GoPro camera which I sometimes attach to my helmet to film my motorbike rides.

Yesterday I was packing my stuff into the top box of my motorcycle. While I was packing I slipped and dropped the GoPro on the ground, at the same time the alarm on my bike started going off. I went forward to turn off the alarm, closed the box, hopped on and left.

Three hours later I realised I'd completely forgotten that I had left my GoPro behind. I drove back right away but of course it was gone. I was kind of pissed but mentally wrote it off and figured that was that.

Today after work I saw a brown paper note scribbled on my bike.

   

The guy had found my GoPro, watched the video, figured out which bike was mine and wrote this note. I met him shortly after and he returned my camera with a smile.

Not everyone is a bad egg folks. There are still decent people out there. I assured the guy that I would pass on this excellent karma in return, and I will.

Bunch of decent things went on for me the past few days:

I installed a bunch of bolt-on accessories to my girl's bike this weekend for her. She was very appreciative.

Shot some more trap on Saturday, ended with a 23/25 round. Cleaned my shotgun after. BTW, unless you are shopping online, buy your gun cleaning instruments at Wal-Mart. The price is right, instead of paying double at fucking Cabela's or Bass Pro Shop.

Signed up for my hunter safety education course on Friday and started taking the online portion yesterday. Will be licensed to hunt in the state of CO by August 19th. Made plans with an experienced hunting friend to go dove hunting in September to get my feet wet before going for the big game.

Having dinner tonight with my girl and my old man. Looking forward to spending time with my father away from my mom.

Stayed up too damn late doing some last minute items on the vacation rental I handle and then catching up on the forum after with a couple cocktails. Was in bed and fell asleep with my phone in my hand. Didn't set my alarm or anything.

Woke up ~4 hours later feeling a little tired, but not bad at all. Started doing the last task I'd left myself for the morning, sweating it up a little, brewed some tasty coffee I just bought/opened, packed myself food to go, showered, headed out to the office.

Felt great the whole drive in. Got some guests checking in soon (I'll meet them on a lunch break), and then in a week there'll be another group almost back-to-back. If all goes well this will be a nice couple weeks for me income and productivity-wise.
