They've lucked out a bit to win the Euro, but at 28-1 they're indeed a good bet.

Brazil because they dominate the South American qualifiers, but they are still overrated, they have no competitive midfield.
Portugal is not going to win either, but they have a decent team and some upcoming players. Fairly balanced also so those are decent odds.
I still think France is the most likely to win. Griezmann, Mbappe, Pogba, Dembele, Kante, Varane, ... There is so much class in that team. Maybe too inexperienced, that's their only weakness.

To continue on about questionable odds...
How is England 18/1?
The last few times I've seen them (world cup and euro 2016) they've looked mediocre at times, average at best.
Definitely not deserving of the 8th best odds to win it all.

I agree. England should be 180/1.
I think Iran have a better chance of winning it.

You just couldn't resist could you Rossi... although I agree England do often choke in big matches, just like a certain club side that wears black and white.

I'd give 50% of teams better odds of winning than England

Let me tell you something.
Black and White club go to final 2 times in 3 years, while having 3 times less budget than British clubs. Such as, getting players from England for free and then sell em same player for €110 millions
On the other hand, it's England. We won't ever see England winning anything in our life time. I mean, they get knocked out by Iceland
I was fortunate enough to see last 2 matches against England.
Euro 2012: England 2-4 Italy on pens, Pirlo chipped
World Cup 2014: England 1-2 Italy, in Amazon
I hope to catch England in our group again in World Cup 2018, so I can go 3rd time to see England lose against us again.

I'm watching Russia-Portugal, this Russia team will not compete at home. Very average team, no real stars. Portugal looks decent, no real weak points, but not enough for a top 4 place I think.

This Confederation cup is one of the most useless tournament in football. Nobody cares, not fans, not players, not media.
I heard that Russians are giving out free tickets around the stadium, so it doesnt look completely empty in front of cameras. My friend went to today's game for free.

México looks terrible. Their defense looks small and slow, nothing like what it was when they trounced through Concacaf.
On the other hand NZ looks nice. That striker especially can play.
Edit: Mexico regrouped at halftime and looks like México again

This Mexico is a lot stronger indeed in second half. Still will be an interesting game against Russia.

I've been to several world cups. They are fun, but can be the worst time to visit a country. You'll pay more for everything. An example is that clubs which are usually free in Recife, Brazil, were charging $40 for entry. For that small price, you could go and drink with a bunch of American and German males. You'll have fun though, but not the best time for pickup. To some extent, I think the world cup could ruin Russia. Once the hoards realize how good the women are, it may never be quite the same... On the bright side, many in the West may sit out both Russia and Qatar.

I hope it won't ruin Russia. Even though the world cup is a lot bigger than Euro champs, Poland and Ukraine are still relatively good or even better than good depending on your perspective . And Russia will still have its old school visa system to keep a lot or the hordes out who will view it as too much of a hassle. I hope it won't change too much.
Also if I remember correctly the games are all taking place in the European part of Russia not in Siberia and so on..

You guys worry too much. Euro 2012 was in Poland & Ukraine and none of them have been ruined because of it. It's just a bunch of 40yo football fans traveling through for 2 weeks getting drunk every night.

As insane as it sounds, Syria is ONE WIN away from qualifying for the World Cup.
On the final match day, Syria plays an already-qualified Iran in Tehran, while Uzbekistan and Korea go head to head in Tashkent.
If Syria beats Iran, and Korea fails to win in Tashkent, then the Syrians qualify for the WC.
Sounds like a story written in the stars. SYRIA making the World Cup in RUSSIA by securing a win in IRAN. The allies, eh !
Having said that, it's a tall order because Iran hasn't conceded a goal in 17 hours.

Can't wait to see Russians in their so-called safe cities kick the living shit out of other fans because they stepped outta line. Going to be lots of footage of it on the web hopefully.

Dreading the only thing being more embarrassing than our ineffective hooligans is our ineffective team. A mighty win against Malta tonight where we only managed 0-0 at half time.
