Ok I haven't really been to Capitolio, Minas Gerais or a Carpe Vita event, but there is something that seems to go down once a year out there whether it's February/March. Capitolio is apparently an upscale lake town in Minas Gerais btw.

March 2013 Pictures with DJ Kaskade - http://www.carpevita.art.br/fotos-30-03-...-do-lago/1

Clicking on "proxima pagina" will lead you to more pictures.

March 2013 Event Flyer with Kaskade - http://www.carpevita.art.br/festa-30-03-...as-do-lago

Events like these require prepaid tickets you can get through Blue Ticket. Booking however seems to require a CPF number (meh) so if living in Brazil with a CPF number that can easily be acquired for tourists, this might be something to check out.

While we are on the subject I was checkin out airbnb today too see if booking is already available for WC next year and sure, it seems possible to book right now. However, the rates seems surprisingly low in contrast to Vacancier P. and many others seem to talk about. I have found plenty of places for 25-45 € in central Rio.

Any catch?

Haha I dont know how Capitolio got mentioned in this thread. It is a very very very small city and there´s not much to do there. Capitolio is close to Escarpas, a upscalle lake town, destination for playboys. The parties on new years or in selected holidays are legendary, but overpriced. Accomodation in Capitolio should be a good option, since the scarse lodging options in Escarpas will be either too expensive or taken...

Thanks for the insight sir.

I just mentioned Capitolio as it is located within Minas Gerais by default as is Belo Horizonte. Perhaps it was worth mentioning as a possible day or weekend trip destination for those visiting or staying for some time in BH.

Are you by chance from Brazil Ramone?

Here's a msg Solo and I were discussing within PM. Anybody every been here?

Apparently a place next to Chalezinho in south of BH called 6 Pistas Choperia:

1) FB Page of Establishment
https://www.facebook.com/6pistaschoperia

2) Saturday Daytime Event Held There (Samba do Seis Pista)
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Samba-do-...9059687690

I'm assuming people pregame there during daytime (popular thing to do on weekends in BH) before heading to Chalezinho. I couldn't imagine drinking all day without heading home there and then going to Chalezinho afterwards. Tiring..and expensive, haha.

Anyone ever been there?

Definitely be warned that the south of Brasil will be cold during the world cup as it's the winter there. June/July, is the equivalent of Dec/Jan in the northern hemisphere. While you may not notice it if you're in Rio/BH, or the North/Nordeste, you will notice it south of SP and even more so in Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Floripa etc...so bring adequate gears for that!

All the cities you mentioned are university cities, however, the biggest would be PA, BH and Curitiba as these have multiple universities. Two key factors in your success will be a) your Portuguese level and b) your bank roll.

Thanks for the advice. So based on weather and university towns, would BH be the best option? What's your opinion on Salvador? It looks like it's fairly far north, and it's on the ocean, and I'm sure my friends would like to spend some time at the beach. How's the university scene there?

Our trip is primarily to see the World Cup and meet up with old friends as we'll be coming from different cities, but the female situation is certainly to be factored in. We definitely have a budget above hostel level, but not $400/person/night either. We'll probably go for about a week.

So here are the choices (World Cup stadium cities):
- Fortaleza
- Belo Horizonte
- Porto Alegre
- Salvador
- Recife
- Cuiaba
- Manaus
- Natal
- Curitiba

Cuiaba. Totally out of the beaten tracks, good ratio of hot girls. Make a side trip to Cacares, and then maybe push to Porto Velho. And don't forget to make a three or four days adventure trip in Pantanal.

Don't forget to eat the delicious river fish (pacu, pintado, dourado) soups.

@ Paninaro - I recommend Belo Horizonte and Porto Alegre for overall warmth and beauty of women.

You can find hotels off despegar.com or airbnb.com for the best values.

Perhaps you can find some weekly deals off easyquarto.com.br too, but that will take a bit of work.

I've never been to Salvador, but I heard the women there are a bit of a disappointment as people on here say Joao Pessoa (no games hosted) and Natal (WC games hosted) have the cutest chicks in Northeast where weather is warmer with some nice beaches.

Born and raised in BH. Destiny´s evil ways, however, brought me to Brasilia.

July (World Cup) is winter season in Porto Alegre. Too cold, definitely not a good period to go there. In Salvador/Nordeste, it's rainy and also rather cold. Contrarily, in Cuiaba (as Manaus for that matter) it is the dry season.

@ Ramone - Que pena..pelo menos vc pode visitar Goiania todos os fins, nao e? Haha Too bad. How would you rate the women of say Brasilia vs. BH vs. Goainia? Would be nice to have your input!

@ Prosal - Warmer climate would be nice for the average traveler. For me, the cold isn't so bad since I put up with really bad heat back at home. Was just making suggestion based on chicks alone so therefore mentioned BH/POA haha.

I understood. Still, July/August is definitely not the best season in Southern Brasil.

Anyway, I don't see why anyone in his right mind would want to go to Brasil during the World Cup. Prices (that are already ridiculously high) will skyrocket and there will be zillions of tourists around, most of them sex-hungry. Yuck.

Ditto. I'm lucky I left Poland two weeks before Euro 2012 started last May, but it appears as if I will be stuck working in Curitiba when WC 2014 comes around.

Cuiaba and Porto Velho are great off the beaten track for sure, but I wouldn't recommend first timers with no at the very least, semi fluent Portuguese there.

Salvador, I have mixed feelings about it. While it's a great place for cultural stuff with delicious food, it's not really a hot bed of hot women specially if you're not too much into the black women as I am. If however, you're into black women, then Salvador will be paradise for you. Plus, the beaches IN Salvador are not that great, unless you venture outside of the city, then you will find some gems.

Evolute,
I highly highly doubt that you can find anything in central Rio for those prices during the WC. My guess is that these places have not updated their rates for the WC yet. However, if you do find decent places in Rio during the WC at those prices that you quoted (25-45E/night), then I'd be all ears!

yb13, good stuff man! BH is a great city and your reports are only confirming my views about it! Keep posting all those nuggets from the ground!

Has anyone been to Aracaju, in Sergipe (just north of Salvador)? I hear it's beautiful, relaxed, relatively safe and with beautiful, sexy and hot girls who are very friendly...

IMO accommodation prices during the World Cup will be the same than during Carnaval or NYE, ie x 5.

Agree about Cuiaba and Porto Velho, it's not doable without a bit of portuguese. Still, it's an enthralling journey. I really enjoyed this part of Brasil. When you are in Porto Velho, you really have the (highly enjoyable) feeling to have travelled deep.

I'd venture as far as saying that prices for accommodations during the WC and the Olympics will be even higher than during Carnaval and New years eve. Carnaval and NYE is once a year, while a WC and Olympics, every 50 or so years, so I wouldn't be surprised to see prices double, if not triple or more than Carnaval prices during WC...[Image: confused.gif]

If you're looking for Brasileiras of African descent, Belo Horizonte has some HIGH quality ones. I always thought women of African descent from say DR, Cuba, and Puerto Rico were superior to that of Brazil, but Mineiras proved me wrong as there are some really exotic ones in BH. Mineiras are of the same mixed breed as say Cariocas yet women in at least BH take much better care of themselves & know how to flaunt their attributes least I think.

If I go to Bahia, it'll likely be for more touristic purposes.

NP. From my 3.5 days in BH, it appeared as more of a day game or clubbing oriented city as the bars are mainly botecos where there are a ton of generic patios for friends to just talk amongst each other. Kinda lame, but the overall vibe & neighborhoods in were awesome.

Examples of boteco type seating in Savassi that are awful for gaming:

Now imagine it's night time as you would have more tables yet same ole of the low gaming opportunities here:

Still, let's just say that..I had more fun compiling these reports than I did with Curitiba, haha. I can't wait to hear more testimonies from others that are living or plan on visiting in near future.

Cuiaba looks interesting. How much of a university town is it? I see the population is around 1 million, and the largest university there (UFMT) has 20,000 students. Are women there more of African or European descent?

Euro and Pocahontas-alike. Few black girls nevertheless. You will like it. If you go to Cuiaba you must push to Porto Velho. What a enthralling journey, I envy you if you do it. It was one of my most memorable trip in Brasil.

Might have to try it out for drinks or maybe one of you beating me out to the punch can next time in town: [img]Has anybody ever been to Cafe de la Musique in Belo Horizonte? Yup, I went there in March. LONG line but I managed to run some game to get me and two of my boys in but it was a challenge. Get there early to avoid that.

Lots of hotties but they were for the most part pretty stuck up. My boys managed no make outs or numbers but I managed to pull a real cutie who I am still in contact with but only once I was bored of the other failures. I just camped close to her and slowly danced and chatted with her rather than going hard on the approach (typical Brazilian way).

I got some social proof by having some guys invite me to their table and I was able to pour her free drinks from their bottles. Made out with her and then tried my hardest to see her again but she wouldn't come out because "My English is so terrible I'm embarrassed and don't know what we will talk about." I pulled every stunt to see her and she was just terrified. A shame, because I really dig her. My Portuguese while far from great, was halfway decent also.

Everyone was very well dressed there.

Nice. It's a shame I didn't know about this place bc this along with Tize were right next to my apt in St. Agostinho/Lourdes. Would've been a better Friday night option opposed to the sertanejo places on Rua Sergipe, haha.

Would you say around 10 is ok? Or slightly later or earlier?

What an amazing city BH is.
