AirBnb has a few good spots also. I stayed in a dope artist loft style place RIGHT in Savassi for $105/night.

Saturday afternoon (also Sunday) go to Tize in Lourdes. Unbelievable amount of chicks will start strutting in there usually between 3-5PM. Have to get there early to get a good table. Everyone sitting at tables for the most part as its pretty much a beer garden. Kind of tough to approach but that is where they all are. Saturday it gets loose with people popping bottles and getting pretty hammered.

Good times but would be hard solo.

One last question for now...but where would be ideal places for picture taking?

Are there some really nice residential areas in the suburbs worth checking out for good views I can capture on my camera?

Thanks for the tips regarding lodging, nightlife, and the chicas guys.

Well...I did find this for BH:

Video with 360 degree views...and then it also says "get to know more" so I'm finding good places for picture taking.

I've been two times in BH and honestly didn't like the place.

Minas is undoubtedly the most conservative state in Brasil (Minas has the largest born-again xtian evangelist population of the country, with some 40% of the population being part of the Evangelical community), and most of the girls behave accordingly. It is a well-known fact that Minas is the "Bible Belt" region of Brasil.

Also there is an annoying brawl culture in Minas (which is even stronger in Goias BTW). I have witnessed many a fight in Savassi area (that is why in every big club, there is not only a good dozen of official bouncers, but also some unofficial undercover bouncers, who can beat the hell out of people without the club's owner being processed and sued). Another fact is that Mineiros are usually not cosmopolitan -to say the least- and very nationalists (as most brasilians for that matter), and thus there's a pretty ample anti-gringo distrust feeling in Minas (notably from the girls), that can sometimes even be blatant hostility (both from guys and girls).

About girls, there's a myth that says that "there is more women than men in Minas". Pure BS of course. And if there is very definitely gems to be found, the roads are not paved with them. Personally I find Minas women rather average. The ratio of really smokin girls is not that great. Belo H is definitely not hot-babe Eldorado, far from that.

Sorry.

@YB13: Here are some places that shouldnt be missed:
- Praça da Liberdade (square)
- Praça do papa (square) There´s a big hill beside the square, and a trail all the way to the top.
- Inhotim (open air museum with large collection of rare plants and modern art)
- Pampulha region (old Casino, San Francisco Church)
- Outside the city theres the Serra da Moeda (mountain) with beautifull views and paragliding
If you are willing to take day trips or even sleep over, you should definitly go to the city of Ouro Preto

@Prosal: too bad you had a bad experience in BH. I lived there for many years and I have the exact opposite impression of BH [Image: smile.gif]

Yeah on my last day Monday June 3rd, will spend that in Ouro Preto. I imagine it's a 2 hour trip there and then 2 hours back into BH. These tips are greatly appreciated once again.

I'll be sure to hit up naSala/Novochale to write about my difficulties there..haha

Also, anyone familiar with Centro in Belo Horizonte? How is it living there?

I imagine it'll take more than a 4 day weekend for me to get immersed into the social scene. And when I get access to to the social scene, it'll take me more than 4 days for the local dudes to introduce me to all the hot females there...and then for them to take further notice of me...haha. How long were you in BH Prosal? I appreciate the different insight.

I can't remember which thread it was but someone said the difference between Sampa and BH is that having a steady hot gf with you in public is more of a status thing in BH. Whereas in Sao Paulo, guys will just take the milk for free instead of dropping $$$ consistently on one cow. That could coincide with what Prosal is insisting about mineiros being more possessive and territorial...but surely they wouldn't hit a naive Asian tourist eh? Lol.

Whatever the case really excited about this upcoming trip. Kind of a gauntlet of back to back cities I'm looking to conquer in a short span. No room for the B-game here.

While I did get the conservative feel in Minas, I got absolutely no anti-gringo feeling what so ever. The people there were some of the friendliest I met in Brazil. Of all the places I've been, I think Minas would probably be the greatest place to find a wife. Now does that help when it comes banging bitches? No. But I personally liked Minas a lot. The food is also very good.

Sao Paulo.

I also like Sao Luis de Maranhao for its exotismness and because it's still off the beaten tracks. Belem also is a fascinating city, it's a place where I could go back with pleasure, not for the girls who are rather average (yet not as ugly as in Manaus), but for the highly enjoyable and unique atmosphere - and for the food. There is food that you find no where else in Brasil, or in the world for that matter ..lots of delicious river fishes cooked with manioc or cheiro-verde.Also the abundance of strange (cupiaçu, bacuri, acai, ect) and tasty fruits is also unbelievable. I've litterally spent hours sipping incredibly good fresh sucos at the outdoor bars of Praca da Republica, Docas or Ver-O-Peso. But I digress ))

Recife and Fortaleza are ugly cities where girls are for most fugly.

As a side note, Skank, one of the most famous brasilian rock band, is from BH.

Sorry.

The only part I agree with is that it is on the conservative side. Outside of that, didn't feel any of the hostility and in fact the opposite.

People were genuinely friendly, more so than in most other parts and were excited to talk and hang out with a gringo. Guys and girls alike. Had two mixed group sets who we met and made it a point to invite us to their bottle service table free of charge. Once at Cafe De La Music and the other at Chalezinho. Genuinely friendly people.

I personally call this 'wifey country'. The chicks are not sluts, classy, educated, very friendly, and smoking hot. What more do you want?!

When I am ready to hang up the cleats, this is at or near the top of the list.

Without being polemical, I woud say that SOME chicks are smocking hot. No need to see Brasil through pink-teinted lenses. I'd say that in Belo H, on ten girls, one is sizzling hot, two or three range from hot to fuckably cute, three are just worth a 5am drunk fuck but not more, and the others are fugly gorgones. IMO this ratio can also be objectively applied for SP, Rio, Goiania, Porto Alegre, Curitiba, ect.Go to Recife, Fortaleza, Sao Luis, ect, and the ratio turns to one hot for ten gorgones. Go to Manaus and it's one hot for twenty gorgones.

Of course you can say that I am not objective, but even the brasilian authorities agree that the country is experiencing an alarming epidemic of obesity (about 30 % of the population is considered as obese, and almost half of Brasilians are now overweight - goverment says that it will rise to 60% in the next ten years), and BH is not spared.

Furthermore the hottest chicks in Brasil are out of league for 99% of the gringos on a few weeks vacations. They already have access to the best their society has to offer and have dozens of wealthy and good-looking locals at their feet begging to please them.

I just want to make sure that nobody here on the forum goes to Circus club for any reason. You may be tempted to go there because your beta friends will say its good, or girls will say they are going there, or the hostel you are staying at will recommend it, but you should look upon these people with contempt and tell them to fuck off. Circus Rock Bar epitomizes everything that this forum hates about the decline of Brazil.

Tonight I counted the ratio at Circus. I went to the second story and counted approximately 100 people in the main area. Of those 100 people 27 were girls and 73 were guys. Of those 27 girls I believe 20 of them were with guys. Of those 7 left over, 4 were obese. It is the worst place in the city to try to game, made even worse by the ridiculous amount of lip service that people give to it.

The attitudes that girls have there is horrible. Because the ratio is just about 10 singles guys to 1 single girl, the girls have huge bitch shields and if you're not what they consider attractive you wont have a chance to spit game at them. Even if you could get past the opener with these girls you wouldn't be able to converse with them because the music is too loud to hear anything. The logistics of the place are just horrible for chatting with girls.

I haven't even mentioned the price yet, which if you follow Roosh's rule about entering clubs in South America that have a cover of more than $20 you would've already steered clear of here

I'm hating pretty hard on this club because I've been here several times and every time I go there I regret it. Please don't make the mistake of going here. But don't think that this place is representative of the rest of the city. Belo Horizonte is still a place where dreams are made if you know the right people, but you certainly wont find those people in Circus.

I appreciate the update. I arrive in BH from Miami this Friday morning. Let me know if you want to meet up as my Portuguese will be up to par with happenings in Brazil. I still need to get a Sim Card from a Tim Store though.

Have you maybe been to Chalezinho, Swingers, or NaSala yet? I think I'm gonna hit up NaSala for kicks as a measuring stick for my BR game and Portuguese. Lez do this!

Good post. This reflects what I'm seeing on dating sites there. Compared to europe, brazil is a fat farm. It must have really gotten bad the last 10 years. Its hard to find even normal sized girls on these sites.

Sounds like you live in Belo Horizonte??

How about dropping some intel on places that we should go?

I had a completely different experience at Circus a couple months ago. The ratio was about even and the girls were friendly as could be. The music was horrible with an 80's rock cover band but that was neither here nor there as the talent was between good to great. Met an absolute stunner there who is actually going to come visit California soon and I'm gonna try and seal the deal with then.

Only goes to show however that venues change on any given night, and a place can be horrible one night and good another. Sounds like you have been multiple times though so maybe this place is toast for good...

Every experience I've had at Circus has been less than stellar. Thursdays and Fridays blow. The hot girls usually go with their boyfriends. This is Belo Horizonte we're talking about so its not impossible for a big group of friendly girls to go their for someone's birthday, but in general I don't think its a good place. If you're in town for a short time its too risky to spend one of those prime nights at Circus.

As for good intel on nightlife, I'm afraid that I don't have anything to offer beyond whats already been said here. I've put priority on my health and my business since I've been here, and as such I don't drink very much or stay up very late. When I do go out its with friends to one of these sit down places where everyone just sits around drinking and talking to each other.

I've built up my social circle here and have been able to tap into that. Recently I've gotten into daygame and have been talking to cute girls on the street, on the bus and at the grocery store. I recommend taking the bus at 3pm and 6pm because it seems like girls get out of class at these times and there are an abundance of them on the buses. Bus 2151 and the SC01B are good lines to take.

The holiday is only on Thursday, most people have to work on friday.
Wednesday night, the night before the holiday, will be busy and most bar/pubs/discos will be full.

About Circus: I havent been to Circus in a while, but the place brings me good memories. On the other hand, I know what Safado is talking about. Circus was never famous for the ratio of girls.

So I finally arrived here in BH. Real quick report as to what has been going on thus far:

-On the flight from Miami to BH, I was slated to sit next this really hot chick from Goiana...she had to be a blond 9-9.5. Then her mom asks to sit next to her per relation..I obliged..thx for the cockblock mom.

-Took a while to get settled in as I paid 9.5R$ for a shuttle from Confins to Rodiviaria. As I got settled into Rodiviaria, I was taunted immediately by the locals there with "Japones!" and slanted-eye gestures. I wasn't offended, but this is why the scary neighborhoods & favelas in Rio feel safer to me than the bad areas in BH. I'm just glad I didn't get hurt. I'm sure I'll get re-acquainted with those ppl on my trip to Ouro Preto.

-Took a quick taxi costing $13.00 Reais from Rodivairia to a neighborhood known as Santo Agostinho next to Diamond Shopping.

-Took me forever to get my phone working through Tim Store, a failed attempt to get a CPF number through Banco do Brasil, get my internet working, and then phone charged...but now it's finally done. I think unlimited data through Tim is now $2.00 Reais per day instead of 50 centevalos as it used to be?

- Diamond Shopping had some terrific gaming opportunities this Friday 11:00AM-1:00PM, but I was dirty, in a rush, tired, etc. After showering off my airplane germies, I went back there to lunch with a certain family as it was all other families there 3-4PM. Better gaming opportunities early on I'd say.

-Mineiras in my neighborhood are smoking hot (St. Agostinho). The chicks here are definitely of the same ethnic breed as Rio chicks, but definitely much prettier. They're more feminine, take better care of themselves, genuinely helpful, and know how to highlight those attributes whereas Cariocas seem to have that more entitled feminist demeanor in refusing to present themselves well while complaining about being single...geez I wonder why.

-Now it's 6PM, dark, and all the site seeing stuff I wanted to see is off limits. Guess I will take this time to walk one mile south to Savassi, surrounding areas, and check out the scene. The bank is apparently a good place to get a city map, but I forgot to do it. Travel agency within Diamond Shopping and magazine/newspaper stands didn't have them.
