If Zuck can't even keep his talking points secure, what does that say about his total disdain for the privacy and security of Facebook customers? Increasingly, I'm using faceborg less and less. Too much nonsense, not enough value. A 19-year-old man I've been mentoring just this week deleted his FB over privacy issues. Maybe there's hope after all that the younger generation isn't all zombies.

Zuck is just a software programmer. No people skills, probably Asperger's. He's got a solid wife and 2 kids and a nice ranch in Kauai. He should say Fuck It and let lazy fatass Sandberg talk to congress.

Anyway it's time for the asshole politicians in DC to understand...they DON'T run shit. Nerdy programmers like Zuck rule the world.

All you need to know about this guy.

He sold a bunch of his stock to fund his foundation, called (mysides!) the Chan-Zuckerberg foundation.

However you feel about the guy he made a shitload of money and let his wife put her name on it.

So, just some business law here.

Facebook is a public company. So the public can own shares. However, Zuckerberg likely owns a controlling interest (>50%).

Public companies have a Board which is responsible to the shareholders and owners, also known as fiduciary duty to the shareholders. The Board makes certain key decisions, including hiring and appointment of the CEO.

However, Zuckerberg is the CEO and also the majority shareholder. He's playing the Board and the remaining public, especially public shareholders, like a ping pong ball. The Board can't even make sound decisions.

For example, the board can't fire the CEO because the majority shareholder (also the CEO) does not want that.

What a fucking clownshow.

Damn just listening to part of the hearing today. They're going on hard as fuck on him nobody is pulling punches. I'm wondering why. He must've pissed someone off, he's getting very little love for a goddamn billionaire in America

Also I'm real sad to see a few features going away that helped me clear bitches for my house. Namely the phone number lookup feature, cuz some lizards have common names (or only give me their first) but I had their number and that was enough to get a snapshot into their life. Fuck.

Fun factoid from chans/Q thread:

Facebook was founded exactly one month after a Pentagon/DARPA shut down a project called Lifelog.

Here is the WIRED article on the project. Its short article, but here the quoted key part for discussion.

Quote:Quote:

WIRED Staff business 02.04.04 12:00 pm
Pentagon Kills LifeLog Project

The Pentagon canceled its so-called LifeLog project, an ambitious effort to build a database tracking a person's entire existence.

Run by Darpa, the Defense Department's research arm, LifeLog aimed to gather in a single place just about everything an individual says, sees or does: the phone calls made, the TV shows watched, the magazines read, the plane tickets bought, the e-mail sent and received. Out of this seemingly endless ocean of information, computer scientists would plot distinctive routes in the data, mapping relationships, memories, events and experiences.

LifeLog's backers said the all-encompassing diary could have turned into a near-perfect digital memory, giving its users computerized assistants with an almost flawless recall of what they had done in the past. But civil libertarians immediately pounced on the project when it debuted last spring, arguing that LifeLog could become the ultimate tool for profiling potential enemies of the state.

Researchers close to the project say they're not sure why it was dropped late last month. Darpa hasn't provided an explanation for LifeLog's quiet cancellation. "A change in priorities" is the only rationale agency spokeswoman Jan Walker gave to Wired News.

Notice the date of the Wired article was published. This is the first time that public knew about the project was canceled. Look at the date of facebook being founded:

Interesting, isn't it.

This is old news in some circles. Darpa closes their total surveillance project and instantly afterwards puts support behind a very similar one called FACEBOOK.

Many folk scoffed at such notion that Facebook development was so deeply documented to have been developed by bunch of no-name college geniuses. Right - after Darpa has been working on an identical system for years with a budget 10.000 times bigger.

Myspace was mess as I recall from my youth. What made facebook different at the time was being exclusive to college students. Thus many people freely exchange information and pictures on facebook due to exclusivity of certain age bracket. This culture didn't change when it become public, so many people join the website when it become open and start to mimic what college student did at its creation. Funny thing how everything now need a facebook account now a days.

What Facebook different was creating a culture of freely giving up private information away. When I was in college, we all want to put pictures of parties, vacations, and etc on the platform. We brag to our friends on what we are going to do. We freely looked at person profile to see if a chick was single. Once it became public, many people I knew start to restricted what they put on the site. Yet for someone new to the site, they will mimic what everyone else was doing before.
