Great point, my phrasing was vague so here we go again...

If the link I posted is true then it's pretty ridiculous our society has a pearl clutching mentality of "Save the environment think of the children!" and "Those poor oppressed Indians!". Oil is the blood of our economy for decades (like you said) and it's indefensible that we can't build a pipeline here for jobs but allegedly are cool with getting one built in foreign lands.

Regardless if my link is true oil and blood diamonds do have a commonality of being mired in conflict. Both definitely have powers that want to control their supply to control prices. I'm also well aware that the asshats in the media aren't telling the whole truth about the Dakota protests. My theory is certain higher powers (Warren Buffett, Saudi Arabia?) don't want the Dakota pipeline being built and are using the media as a proxy to get their agenda pushed.

Oil has been the blood of our economy for decades and that isn't going to change overnight.

Oil and Blood diamonds aren't a great comparison because oil is used in everything and isn't worth anything near what a diamond would be appraised for and is scarcer compared to oil.

You know it.

Also not addressed are the tens, if not hundreds of millions of dollars that First Nations businesses make in the energy sector every year.

This man Dave Tucaro, a relative of the same tribe as my grandmother, is the worlds richest Indian. His entourage alone is worth more than the Standing Rock. Why? All the bullshit that holds down many people who rely on handouts and free housing is only one fed up man away from making the move. When Tucaro started working in the business people in his tribe didn't look at him like an 'uncle Tom' or whatever. They just thought he was stupid. Driving dozer, haha.

But when the business keeps getting parlayed into more, then more, suddenly he inspires more people than can hate. And a revolution of sorts takes place. Jealousy runs deep in the Indian psyche, and I understand. Remember only three or four generations ago they had to share everything just to survive. His no bullshit, easy going, humorous Cree attitude is contagious. He rolls in with custom beaded Indian jacket, Gucci loafers and behind him are teenagers wearing steel toed work boots and Starter jackets. Its amazing.

My dad is one of these stories. So is his brother, my aunt, my cousin and probably five or six of my dads relatives. Some of you patch workers might recall the "one Squaw too many" fiasco that fucked over a man for millions of dollars after the Huffington Post made the shit go viral. Well, this man is a relative of mine and a fucking Indian himself. The sticker was a joke, a sign to other Indian truckers (who he hires the shit out of) that he was fucked over in yet another relationship with a First Nations woman.

Send these virtuous protesters to live in Fort Chip or Hobema for a fucking weekend and see how they react afterwords.

They wouldn't last too long in Hobema, that place is pretty fucked up, hard to believe that people live in such bad conditions only forty minutes from Edmonton. I feel safer walking through the junkie infested red light district in Bogota than I would on some reserves in Canada.

In the same vein. I'd like to see a bunch of environmentalists protest the next all weather road that gets built to a currently fly in/winter road only reserve in northern ontario. The indians from that reservation would probably set fire to their tent city in the middle of the night. All weather roads means the indians can actually drive 6 hours to wal mart instead of having to wait until uncle 6 toes has to get flown to the hospital for a diabetes amputation and then try to pack all of their stuff on the plane for the flight back.

Sooner or later tribes will realize that the 'activist' indians that have university degrees and live in ottawa, that only show up during a crisis and get the reservation more fired up than a black lives matter shooting, are only in it to enrich their own ideals and not the reservation. Here's an all weather road example again.

Some fly in Ontario reserves could have been home to operations bases for huge mining operations that were even willing to put up smelters way out in the bush and at least get a nice all weather road built to their communities. But, in come the activists, that convince the reservation they are entitled to everything and fuck whitey, and they demand an outrageous amount of royalties from the mine. Well, guess what happens? The mine says "fuck it" and backs out entirely. No jobs, no money, no road, back to living in rotted out housing cut off from the rest of the world with nothing to do but huff gas and commit suicide.

The reservations out here in the East went the legalized gambling and tax free tobacco route to bring in $$$. Trump called them at one point (when he still had operations in Atlantic City) "Casino Americans"... he was bitching about the competition they put forth to Trump's own casinos. The native Americans on these reservations are pretty damn white or mixed with other races, having intermarried for generations. A bit different from what I observed when I traveled out West some years back.

From what I have read some of the reservations out West sit on some pretty rich mineral reserves (oil, gas, coal, etc.). Yet those mineral reserves never get exploited for the benefit of the people who live on top of the resources.

The entire reservation system is just sad. It is like a prison system without a wall. The inmates keep each other from escaping.

This whole affair is a leftist SJW event at its worse. The below article shows their real intentions. There is nothing wrong with the pipeline and I hope Trump crushes this fast.

"Veterans at Standing Rock shock tribe members, beg forgiveness for war crimes against tribal nations"

Are there names for any of the veterans in that photo? I'd really be interested to know who the bearded guy in desert camo (with the US Army SF) patch is. I'm hoping upon hope he's a poser in a uniform he bought down at the thrift store. Otherwise he's a damned disgrace.

I'm talking Canadian reservations vs. American. That being said, eastern american indians have done pretty well with casinos, and enterprise. I've never been to a western US reservation but I get the impression that they are similar to the canadian ones.

The best example of a self sufficient reservation I have seen is the Menominee reservation in Wisconsin. They run their own forest management, logging and sawmill operations on their own lands. They employ their band members in every job and do not have outsiders participate in their manufacturing chain.

They make enough money that they buy private land surrounding their reservation and put it in the band's name, essentially expanding their territory. You'll never see them crying about how they are oppressed by the white man.

The First Nations here in Vancouver have been 'given' land worth almost $5 billion.

Yeah, $5 BILLION.

Hectares of ocean front and hilltop located in the two most prestigious and expensive neighborhoods in Canada, so therefore the world. Houses in these neighborhoods start at $5 million and go to $50 million, easy.

Yet a lot of these bands still show up to protests about how the white man is oppressing them. In fairness, a lot of the Indians I have worked with in the past have been very economically focused and know they need to leave the victim mentality behind, but they are certainly overshadowed by the noisy entitled ones who show up at every business meeting with their hand out. Of course with the MSM in tow, who are their biggest champions.
