I had a talk with my boy and showed him this thread. we're both minorities and came up with this. I have heard a lot of people say this and that shit about Houston but the reality is Houston is not for everybody.

1 - if you only like fucking with white girls you wont like Houston bc its a gang of different races here..we got bad ass females here but a lot of them aren't white girls.

2 - if you don't like warm weather then you will get folded by the heat.

3 - if you only go to certain spots when you are in town then you can only see so much.

4 - this is a blue collar city, so its not for uppity people and its not designed for people from white collar cities.

5 - dont come here if you dont like to drive. this is a car city and i dont understand why someone would complain about that. i wouldnt go to LA and expect to walk around the city and hop on buses/subways to get everywhere. thank god it isn't like that. thats the reason there's huge car scenes down here.

Houston is a great place to live but you're going to have a fucked up opinion if you visit or come for a business conference. there's no way in hell you can see everything we have to offer in a few days or even a week. Its more to this shit than what you see on the surface.

Bumping this thread, because it needs to be kept current.

Any recent bar/club experiences in DC? I'll share mine.

For the past few weeks I've been trying the K Street corridor. I remember this place as being active, with lots of attractive ethnic girls, but no more. To my surprise, things have changed. A brief rundown:

- Josephine: has reopened recently. This place is hard to describe. Previously, it used to draw an ethnic crowd, but these days it's white women mostly. I keep seeing a very young college crowd there as well. I'm guessing a GW or AU clique? They all know each other and it's impossible to penetrate. There are no random people at Josephine, it's a private place like a restaurant but without food. But it's not your regular college crowd, it's more of an elite, kind of like your homecoming king/queen elite. For the first time in my life, I'm seeing well-dressed white girls in DC, but they act very weird, I can't quite make sense of who they are. There are no women shorter than 6' here, BTW. Would be curious to hear other people's experiences.

- Lima: I've heard of people having success here, but I always fail here despite being well dressed. The ratio is 2:1, and also many of the women come here just to dance. It's the only "generic" club in the area, in the sense that a random guy can just show up, and it has a dancefloor. But the crowd is a little older and a little more dysfunctional than I'd like. There are pairs of girls here and there, but they're always outnumbered, and also something tells me they're not worth the trouble, like they don't speak English very well or they're gold-diggers, or have some ulterior motives. Whenever I've tried to approach here, I've been rejected to the point of being physically pushed away. But like I said, lots of my friends seem to have good luck here, so it could just be me.

- Tattoo: This is an American scene, i.e. a dive bar. There's no dress code. It's very similar to Midtown or Lucky Bar in Dupont Circle, you'll see guys wearing ball caps and sneakers. No glamor here, just a regular bar with some unusual rock music. No international/ethnic people here, the cover is just $10 and no pretentiousness. I prefer a more glamorous setting so I don't like it, but I do see an occasional 2-set walk in (usually not dressed very well, similar to Dupont/AdMo).

- Lotus: has gone down the drain. Used to draw a stylish ethnic crowd, these days it's empty even around 12:30. Total waste of $20 cover charge. Also, no random people here either.

- K Street Lounge: Ah, yes. The fun part of this post. Let me start off by saying that on a Saturday night, this place is 100% Asian. If you're not Asian, you'll stick out like a sore thumb; this is essentially an Asian playground. The upshot? Very glamorous, beautiful Asian girls who dress well and wear heels. But here's the problem: the Asian guys in those groups are very jealous of their women. As a non-Asian, I've had unusually slow bar service here, and also gotten some nasty looks from other guys. I love this place, but the bad part for me is that it has no diversity and I don't want to interfere with the Asian guys because this is clearly where they go to meet women.

I avoid places in DC w/cover charges. That way when I walk in and I see how bad it sucks I can immediately walk out w/o feeling like I need to waste an hour there to validate the cover charge I just paid. Plus a lot of these places aren't that big and get boring kind of fast, and if you start bar hopping the high cover charge set you can drop some dough w/a minimal ROI

I went to K Street Lounge once after bouncing a chick from some Chinatown bar here after she suggested it. She left her friends to hang out with me. But we got there and they said she wasn't on the list she said she signed up for earlier. They made her pay $10 and then they asked me for $20. I was broke as a joke then and thought I'd be better off with my hand. I left her at the club and got a cab. LoL. That was the last time I went because I was being charged for my penis even when I was with a chick.

Tuesdays fucking blow in DC and VA. It used to be a little better. But only slightly. Lima has brought me some vag before on Tuesday nights. Dress up though and bring $20 for the cover. They may or may not have a list, but I didn't care enough to get on it. I didn't care about the music either. The bad part is that you will pay out the ass for a drink. But that's pretty much anywhere now in DC, even when it's a poorly mixed drink in a small plastic cup filled to the top with ice. There are chicks in there on Tuesdays.

this is whats killing the nightlife. between covers, cabs or parking, and weak $12 drinks its not worth the aggravation. the game is changing, and nightlife is becoming extinct in its current form.

Yeah, Tuesday nights are college nights at Lima. I've done that as well. The ratio at that particular party has gone down the drain over the past few years like everywhere else. But also, I never liked that party in the first place because of the high Latino contingent, I hate Latinas.

In my experience, anything that Panorama Promo does (and that includes Tuesdays @ Lima) has a high ghetto/Latino contingent.

But I agree it used to be a little better, I was once approached by a cute Middle Eastern girl there back in '09.

Saturdays at lima seemed to have a doable ratio later in the night than most places. I've been there at 1/130 ish and still counted 1:1

Field report from Josephine, Friday Nov. 25.

Horrible ratio, 2:1 or maybe worse. Guys of all stripes crowding the front bar, both solo and in groups, all races and heights, looking out at the "crater" table area (the dancefloor). The front bar is a complete sausage fest. Out on the dancefloor, lined with tables, 30 guys jealously guarding their 15-20 women and treating them to champagne and vodka.

It sucked so bad, I came in at 11:30 and left at 12.

Sadly, the lousy DC ratios continue, with no end in sight.

Daaaamn that picture of Vitoria made me miss Brazil so much. Even in MIA you don't get those kinda of ratios. I remember asking a friend before I left for Vitoria if there were good women. When I got there we went to that office bar place, by the same owners of casa clube. I am not exaggerating when I say this. The ratio HAD to be 30 women to 4 or 5 men. Damn.... I've found Asian chicks to be extremely easy, probably the easiest race I've gotten with. Sometimes its hard to get them in bed the first night, but take them out a couple times, your good. I once had an Asian girl that wasn't putting out. I showed her no love one night when I finally got sick of making out. She asked what was wrong. I basically told her I just wanted to bang her and otherwise didn't give a shit about her. Later that night I fucked her without basically having to put in any game except telling her I didn't give a fuck.

Reguarding Vitoria, I don't think I've ever seen a place in America with that great of a ratio, especially when you consider the quality of girls. I would go as far to say that the average girl at a club there could be close to a seven. Would anyone else that's been agree with me? I'm sure that picture was no more than a year or two old, as I was there 2 years ago and the ratios were at par with this picture, if not better quit a few nights, especially before 12 o clock.

The immediate problem I see here is that there are lots of older guys, but no older women; the women are young only. It looks like girls stop going to clubs after age 25, but men continue to go out well into their 30s and 40s. I see this as the main cause behind DC's sausage fests.

To correct the balance you need one of the following:
- Have the older men married, so they're not single anymore
- Have more young women in the population, to compensate for men of all ages
- Persuade older women to go out (likely impossible)
