Be careful with putting coconut oil on your skin if you're prone to acne. That shit can turn somebody that rarely ever has a pimple into a pizza faced teenager. When dealing with your skin, avoid anything that is super commercialized. Stick to natural ingredients. Here's a few off the top of my head that won't break you out, and are even better than coconut oil.

1. Unrefined good quality shea butter is extremely good for your skin. it's packed with all kinds of anti oxidants. Highly recommended.

2. Rose hip seed oil is also really good for the skin and is supposedly miraculous for people dealing with scars. Make sure to do your homework before you buy this because the oil can easily go rancid and quite a few vendors will unapologetically sell it this way.

3. Jojoba oil is another great oil packed with antioxidants.

For gut health, buy some organic raw Sauer kraut. It has tons of probiotics and it's packed with Vitamin C.

Another quick tip. If you drink a gallon of water a day I recommend that you put a pinch of some Celtic sea salt in the water. Very high mineral content and will help you hydrate properly.

With regard to coconut oil pulling, here are a couple of things to consider:

1. Ideally, you want to do it for 15 to 20 minutes at a time. This is so the coconut oil can change from the oil form to more of a water form. In a pinch, you can do it for shorter time periods but the sweet spot is 15 to 20 minutes.

2. Once a day is sufficient and most suggest the best time is first thing in the morning because your mouth will have built up a bunch of crap in your sleep and the previous dinner. This is also a good time because you are less likely to be disturbed with a phone call, knock at the door, etc. Really, you want to choose a time where you won’t be disturbed so you won’t end up having to spit it out after starting the oil pulling for the day.

3. Do not spit coconut oil in your sink or toilet. You will clog your pipes as it will solidify again in the pipes. Instead, either throw it outside or spit it in a cup and eventually throw that out in the trash.

4. It is a good idea to skip a day or two every so often so you don’t over sterilize your mouth.

5. After oil pulling, spit it out and brush your teeth and tongue to remove the gunk and residue.

I'm 35 and a girl I had lunch with recently thought I was 22.

A month ago I was buying spray paint and the lady at the store asked for my ID. When I gave it to her, she goes, "This can't be right, you don't look at day over 18!" The braces help, haha.

About two years ago at the movies, I was asked for ID, which I thought was odd, so I asked, "ID, why do you need an ID?" So the ticket-taker kid says "It's rated r, you have to be 17 or over to attend. My buddy, who is 25 and didn't get carded, was like, "Daaaaaamn!" This happens pretty often, buddies of mine that are 10 years younger don't get carded at bars, while I always do and then they look at my ID several times to make sure it's not fake.

It's pretty sweet. My ex was 17 when we met, 21 when we broke up, a few months ago. My ex before that was 18 when we met, and 20 or 21 when we broke up.

I'd say it's mostly genetic, my dad's in his 80's and he's almost 30 years older than my mom. He doesn't take any medications and is still perfectly healthy. His hearing is suffering a bit, but he still has 20/20 vision and can catch buzzing flies with his hands, which I can't do.

That said, his whole life until the last ten years or so, my father walked several miles a day, and I do the same. I eat paleo, but my dad eats everything. I can't get on his case, though, I figure if you made it to your 80's in great health, I'm the one that should be listening to you regarding health, not the other way around. Plus, at that age, food is one of the pleasures you have left that you can still enjoy 100%.

I'd say there's several things you can do to stay young:

1. Create a life free of stress, this will keep you mentally healthy.
2. Create a life that involves walking several miles a day, this will keep you physically healthy.
3. Couple up with a long-term partner that is more or less two decades younger, has a very calm, naturally positive demeanor, and enjoys nothing more than being in your company and pleasing you. Coupling up with a quality woman like this will keep you living the life of someone decades younger than you are.
4. Have fun stuff to do every day, whatever you like to do, be it tech, law, medicine, business, or even just playing video games or staring at the wall, whatever is fun for you to do, spend your days doing it. I enjoy making love, so when I'm not single, I do that several times a day, for example. I also enjoy creating businesses, so I do that as well, single or not. If you're enjoying yourself (in a healthy way, drug use will destroy you), you'll age much slower.

Enjoy every single day. Every. Single. Day. If you can't do this because of financial limitations, then so be it, work towards it.

Yes, ageing is a factor, but one’s decisions and self-control plays a bigger role.

I was in Europe recently. I never noticed how many younger / middle / older women smoke. I wouldn’t be happy if a girl I met in her 20’s had bad habits well into her 40’s and 50’s.

For those who say the wall is inevitable, there are women who are willingly to make themsleves unhealthy and unattractive. This is ironic, because women spend so much money on beauty yet let their bad habits undermine their looks.

When you’re kids, everyone is young and vibrant. There are some body variance, but we look the same.

As one ages (teenager - early 20’s), natural beauty evolves and peaks. She can have the worst diet and habits (drinking, smoking, drugs) and still look super hot.

Mid-20’s+ All of her habits catch up to her. The once super hot girls are now unrecognizeable.

I used to feel sorry for these girls. Not anymore. They decided to make themselves look this way. Had they had more self-control they would have been beautiful into their 40’s+.

Wahlberg was undertaking a 47-day challenge for his role in the film, which is released in the UK this month.

The actor stuck to his schedule even on family holidays and when working away from home. Last month, he posted a video on Instagram thanking the staff of a Manhattan gym for opening up early so he could fit in one of his workouts.

Wahlberg has four children with wife Rhea Durham, and the star says getting up early leaves him lots of time to spend with his family.

"Most of the time I get to work out and do all my stuff while my family's asleep - especially on the weekends," he said.

"By the time I've gotten up, worked out, done all my stuff, played golf, the kids are just waking up and my wife's sleeping in, so it works out good - but that's one of the big advantages of getting up early."

That and the pay cheques, of course. Wahlberg was named the highest-paid actor in 2017, and remains one of Hollywood's most sought-after leading men.

Just a quick note on collagen supplements and protein in general. I`m a big fan of collagen hydrolysate also, and have used the Great lakes brand for years already. Collagen production is reduced already from age 20-25, so it`s well worth taking. It should be mentioned however that when various fibroblasts/stromal cells synthesize collagen fibers, vitamin C is depleted. So it`s vital to have a high vit. C diet also. That would be things like red and yellow bell peppers, green veg, lemons and limes and so on.

What is really important to know though, is that when your eat or supplement your diet with any type of protein/amino acids, whether meat, fish, whey, BCAA, collagen/gelatin etc. The effects you will see are all due to increased cell proliferation. This works via the mTor pathway, which has a mitogenic effect on cells. Simply put, when you eat protein or carbs (not so much fat) you will elevate insulin-IGF1. These hormones bind to receptors on cells, that in turn will increase the expression of mTor. This has the effect of increasing the rate of cell division and importantly, suppressing certain repair and maintenance mechanisms in cells, via something called the DAF-16-FOXO pathway.

This is an ancient evolved mechanism that basically decide the fate of cells. More food in the environment and the cells will prioritize cell division. In the opposite case, the cells divide less (Telomere sparing) and upregulate repair mechanisms like autophagy. This in order to survive until there is a more food in the environment. This is also how all fasting regimens work, from IF to caloric restriction. Take mTor lower and you will extend life. However if you take mTor expression too low, like can happen with extreme ketogenic diets over time, you run into the problem of not enough cell division/differentiation. This is a problem sometimes with keto diets for refractory epilepsy. If the cells don`t divide enough you will see issues like stunted growth, osteopenia, reduced immune function, low libido etc.

So what`s the overarching point here? Well, as I mentioned, both carbs and protein will elevate mTor. But protein is (unlike carbs) essential. And also have the positive effects of muscle growth and connective tissue maintenance we`re after. You don`t need glucose for energy however. Fat oxidation is probably better for most. Protein is also a (too) small part of the diet of the average human. About 14 percent in Western Nations. (There`s good data on that in fact.) The big shift recently has really been in the intake of carbs, replacing what was a higher fat diet. This is the main cause of the obesity and chronic disease epidemic we currently see in the West. But in the context of what we`re talking about here, it`s important to be aware of all this. Even if you already have a higher fat Paleo/Low carb type diet.

So in order to get the best health outcome you should keep your diet and protein intake pulsative. By that I mean that you have long periods between protein (and food) intake from all sources including whey, BCAA, and even collagen. You should have a pretty high protein diet, in fact protein intake is probably to low currently. This is related to satiety also. When you`re lacking in essential nutrients, and especially amino acids, you will seek out more food until you`re satisfied. The problem with for example the standard American diet, is that you have to eat something like 30.000 calories a day to get those essential nutrients. This partly explains why people continue eating non stop.

Anyway, to finish up this rant. Just remember that when you do stuff like Eggs, meat, Whey and Collagen etc, try to consume them together or within in a short time span. Then wait a long time for your next meal. You can eat as much as you feel like, as long as you space out your meals in this fashion. 2 meals a day would be the best, but a post workout meal including protein supplements on training days is acceptable. And of course non of this matters if you have a high carb diet. So a Paleo type approach, including meat, organ meats, fish, eggs, nuts, seeds, herbs and spices, and lots of low to medium GL veg would be the best.

We will stomp to the top with the wind in our teeth.

Good genetics in this context means naturally good insulin sensitivity and unusually long telomeres though.

Both can be addressed now, via diet, exercise and supplements/pharmaceuticals. So you can acually make up for not having super genes.

Sleep Hygiene
  • First use a sleep diary to track the quality and quantity of your sleep. I'm not talking about your latest smart watch or some smartphone app. Use a tried and true pen and paper method.   • Aim to get at least 7 hours. Then baseline it from there as to how much you actually.
  • Different people have different natural circadian rhythms. Some people like to stay up later and wake up later. Others are, much to the annoyance of family and partners, morning people. Your sleep diary should help you determine that.
  • Avoid alcohol and limit caffeine in the afternoon.
  • Reduce screen time at night. Definitely a no-no one hour prior to going to bed. The blue light from phone, laptop, and other screens mess with your natural circadian rhythm disrupting your natural melatonin production. Melatonin helps you feel "tired" and fall asleep naturally.
  • If possible no electronics in your room. I turn my cell phone off and leave it another room. I turn off all computers and devices. The only thing I have in my bedroom is the alarm clock. I use the Phillips light alarm clock. After hesitating for over 6 months based on the price I have no regrets. The gradual natural light simulation is excellent for helping wake up without getting jolted into darkness by loud noise. Only drawback is if you are taking a power nap then the light function can be annoying. I use a cheap $5 alarm clock for naps.
  • Try to wake up at the same time everyday. Sometimes it's difficult because of erratic schedules and unexpected things but this will help keep a routine.
  • Use the bed only for sleeping and sex. Don't use your bed as a couch or watch TV in it. Maybe read a book before going to bed for a few minutes that's about it.
  • Keep your bedroom cool, quiet, and dark. I put aluminum foil on my window. Excellent at blocking light and cheap. No need to buy expensive ill fitted blackout curtains. I use a nice looking bamboo blinds over it so it doesn't look ghetto. Window faces back of the house so it doesn't matter if people see it and think I'm a psycho.
  • Invest in the right mattress. This is worth more than the BS amount of money you spend on booze, coffee, fast food, and impulse purchases. Find the right firmness and texture based on your sleep style (stomach, back, side). Same thing for your pillow. Spend the money on a good pair of pillows for you and your bang.
  • Need I say it again TURN OFF YOUR PHONES at night before going to bed. We are with our phones 24/7. Put the world away and get some mental and physical privacy during your sleep time.
  • Your sleep is sacred. If you don't respect your sleep, nobody else will.

My dad started taking it a few years ago and his skin looks markedly better for his age. Even his dermatologist remarked on it.

Apparently, it fights and actually prevents radiation damage.

On an unrelated but equally amazing note, a family member of mine suffers from pulmonary fibrosis, a nasty disease in which lung tissue hardens over time.

The only substance known to stave off its progression and actually REVERSE it is...astaxanthin.

This is one of those supplements that nobody's heard of but that everybody should research and begin taking, it seems to be incredibly safe and effective in a number of key areas.

It also occurs naturally in krill oil (it's the pigment responsible for the pink coloration of salmon, flamingoes, etc.) but not in large enough quantities that you can get a sufficient amount from krill oil alone.

This thread has great intentions but, unfortunately, too much of a mix of fact and fiction. I'll just mention one thing - the property of coconut oil aren't what they are claimed to be. There is no evidence based dental data corroborating coconut does any particular good for your teeth, gums and overall health of your oral cavity. There are many ways to go about, https://scholar.google.co.uk/ is your friend and many others, such as https://www.ebscohost.com/search. I also asked my friend, who's been a dentist for over a decade and he confirmed my intuition - there is no evidence for the benefit of pulling coconut oil. As always, be mindful and skeptical about many claims regarding thousands of products having wonderful curative properties.

TIP: Get up at 5:30am or 6am and go for a run. When you get back home take a hot/cold shower combo.

This technique will change your life. You will feel much more energized and clear headed throughout the day. There is something about the early morning that revitalizes your mind and body which is hard to describe. It may not be for everyone but worth a try.

It starts with your mindset so if you not up for it probably its going to feel like a chore. This is a good way to force yourself out of the normal morning routine and thats why its not for most people. You have to want to do it in a way.

I took the Icelandic brand Algalife, 12 mg dose, everyday for 4-5 months. Did a heck ton of research on Astaxanthin prior to this, and hoped for some good results. But after taking what is a large dose for that long I noticed no difference on any health issue whatsoever.

Might be premature, but I decided to skip it from then on. I do take krill oil, which contains some Astaxanthin naturally though. (Captain`s krill oil to be precise) This will at least protect the EPA/DHA fatty acids from going rancid, which is quite important. I have some doubts about the effects of Astaxanthin in humans after this experiment. It`s not given that an algae derived antioxidant works in humans! But on the other hand, there are plenty of studies showing it`s effectiveness in lab animals like mice.

We will stomp to the top with the wind in our teeth.
