That's not really a thing. Generally these attacks are just some guy snapping. Japan doesn't really have "say your feelings" or "talk about your problems", so they just bottle it up, until occasionally someone in the long-tail snaps and either jumps in front of a bullet train or does something brutally crazy.

While you may be a bit sarcastic, it is actually quite true. Japanese therapy/counselling/psychiatry is about 50 years behind the west. There's little cultural will in admitting mental problems or discussing them in Japan. People just snap and then commit suicide.

The responses in this thread are pretty revealing. We're always surprised when something like this happens in Japan and discuss mental illness and what could have caused it at length. It's an anomaly and this is how it should be for every normal developed society.

However, we don't even bat an eyelash now when things 10x time worse happen on a weekly or daily basis in Europe or the U.S. now. In some ways extreme acts of violence and the savagery of muslims has become normalized. Lambs to the eventual slaughter.

Looks like there was eight staff on hand at the care center when the knifeman entered. All eight may have allowed themselves to be tied up by him before he started his rampage. That's like the dude 15 years ago who hijacked a full 747 in Japan with a pocket knife. Nobody tried to over power him.

One of the eight eventually untied him/herself and called the police, but the guy had already gotten tired of what he was doing and left the facility.
