The EU, as expected... laying the groundwork for our slavery to technology?

Europe's growing army of robot workers could be classed as "electronic persons" and their owners liable to paying social security for them if the European Union adopts a draft plan to address the realities of a new industrial revolution.

I'd have to know what exactly "electronic personhood" and the rights and obligations legally entail. The populace has been prepped for a long time with movies like Bicentennial Man, AI, etc... to accept that robots could be "persons." But still out of the other corner of their mouth Hollywood and liberals generally scoff that a fetus or even newborns have the rights of personhood.

This is just the EU trying to tax car manufacturing robots, and surgical tools.
They see all the profits generated by the use of "robots" and want to tax them, by calling the welding arms and surgery cams "electronic persons" they can tack on all sorts of other shit.
This is just some smelly horseshit to distract people from the brexit vote.

I welcome our robot overlords and the ensuing civil war that will flush this existential sjw bullshit down the cultural toilet like goat curry from the new indian restaurant down the street that hasn't been inspected yet.

This has everything to do with the Universal Basic Income (UBI).
The idea is that in the next 50 years a lot of jobs are gonna dissapear due to software and robots taking over. If they can't tax people working, they'll tax robots.

Add another 50 year and we'll end up in a world where there are only 2 jobs left: Politicians and Prostitutes.

I've always thought of politicians as a kind of prostitute.

I thought that this headline was especially funny, whatever the underlying financial or political motivations of this effort.

To classify a robot as a person is the equivalent of classifying my desktop windows computer as a person. The only difference is that the robot has attached to it ball joints, oblong and spherical metal parts (arm, leg, and head shaped metal parts) and some crude approximations of facial features.

Why it's funny is because it's the equivalent of stone or copper age people looking at the wind in the trees and ascribing it to 'spirits'. In other words, it's looking at a non-living thing or process that unconsciously mimics life and then assigning it characteristics of and even reverence for a living thing.

It's 'animism', a world-view that humans put to be almost roundly a couple of thousand years ago.

Robots are still a desktop computers. If they aren't going to make all desktop computers without fake human features 'person equivalents', then they are animists merely seeing the wind in the trees. If they are going to make all computers persons, then they are insane.

Takeaways: what's old is new again, and the liberal secular political machine is unconsciously a parody of itself in mimicking what they would hold to be the most superstitious of ancient religious beliefs.

Of course, I also think that this is just more intentional bullshit, in the same vein as all of this other destructive nonsense, to discredit this order before another one will eventually take its place. But that's just my particular conspiracy leaning. To wit, I'm unsure as to how making robots persons would not fatally disrupt the legal and social systems.

I love explaining to European liberals how the EU won't survive. They insist that their socialism works . Yet I have a fun time explaining the realty of the sitatuin:

Businesses hate European regulation. The rich and job creating capital have been fleeing Europe en masse to the US. France's ridiculous unions have destroyed the country's ability to make jobs. The southern countries are the epitome of lazy and the migrants coming in are economics negatives on an already strained system.

It will thrill me to no end when the idiots in Brussels kill their golden goose. This legislature is another nail in the coffin. Gotta tax something for those do nothing lawyers in that frog eating strip of land!

Somehow I find Universal basic income just inherently repulsive. It seems that it just enables people to watch TV,eat, fuck. Be a lifelong sluggard for alot of people and breed more sluggards over time with only very few actually making use of it to be creative, explore, go on adventure, invent and do scientific research.

Not many people would save the UBI to reach for the stars.

With modern welfare systems, we're already enabling people to get money for nothing.

The difference UBI offers is that they're not penalised by withdrawal of benefits for working to better themselves

I doubt we'll ever see an effective implementation, but the concept isn't that bad.

Good point. I'd never thought of the huge tax savings companies get by specifically using machines instead of humans.

Our governments are squeezing out human labor.
