Get out of poblado if you want to avoid the gringos. When I first moved to Medellin, every weekend I'd be at Lleras. After my Spanish improved I'd be at clubs where I was the only non Colombian. I loved it.

To settle down mehhhhh..... People don't really change. If you are slaying broads weekly, it'd be tough to settle. As for the dating pool being "poisoned" in Medellin, well it's a subjective statement. My empleada told me there is a tonne of pretty and good girls in manrique. I trust you don't want to go up there to check out.

Medellin IMHO is the perfect place for reasons many of you know. With money anywhere can be perfect if you will. My advice is that if you are not meeting the types of girls you fancy for a LTR then change up the venues you hit and mix it up a bit. Places like Babylon on a Thursday night you ain't gonna meet the future mrs. Well, maybe but odds are the one you are seeking is not out and has to work tomorrow.

Best of luck!!!

Manta and Portoviejo are good and "the manabas" are the best looking girls in the country, but they are a bit conservative. Santo Domingo is pretty good too. But still Colombian women are a step above, though Ecuador wins food wise.

Argentine beef and Mexican food are pretty tasty man. I haven't been to an Ecuadorian restaurant yet but there aren't many to begin with.

He's comparing to Colombia I guess. Ecuadorian food is not bad, mostly because its fairly healthy and the seafood is cheap. Can you imagine eating lobster with ocean view in a restaurant, together with a salade and fried platano for 7-8$. Incredible.

Puebla has a ton of culture and history. The frequent complaints about the place seem to have to do with the looks and attitude of the women there.

Also, I have over thirty years travel experience in Mexico and a fair amount of time spent in Colombia and Mexican girls' attitudes are a million times worse than Colombians'. I couldn't even imagine that being debatable.

Even though it might be something you have stated tons of times before... it seems like everyone here was telling different and then you write this? Can you tell us a bit more please? [Image: smile.gif]

Thanks for all the amazing answers guys. It's not easy to make a choice though haha

He's comparing it to Colombia, and I'd have to agree.

Obviously Mexico, and to a lesser extent Argentina, blow the rest of Latin America away with regards to cuisine.

Americans are dreamers too

It's pretty simple. Everywhere in the United States and Latin American except for Argentina and Mexico, it takes me no more than four approaches to get a notch. When girls are not interested or reject me, they are almost always polite in doing so. In Mexico, it easily takes me twenty or more approaches and the girls very often have horrible attitudes and/or are confrontational when rejecting me. My sample size of many parts of the United States and Latin American is very large and took decades to accumulate. If you are spending a lot of time in both Mexico and other places like Colombia and are not experiencing what I'm talking about then you'll probably never understand, unless you observe me for a few days in Mexico, then for a few days basically anywhere else.

I imagine whatever attitude Colombian women may have stems from typical gringo fatigue. They've dealt with so much change in the past several decades to the point where people from Colombia (especially women) tend to be more open-minded & worldly.

While I enjoy Mexican culture & the easy going nature of older people, younger social cliques & especially women can be very nationalistic hindering on overly prideful not to mention territorial. Overly prideful ones will complain about how more Americans need to speak Spanish as well...but when trying to converse with them..some tend to respond with the whole "why the fuck are you trying to speak Spanish with us" appearance.

Note: not all women from Mexico are like that. If I had negative experiences with Mexican women..than yeah..the above is a description of what has happened to me on multiple occurrences.

Except for I think Colombians, I've been with more Mexican girls over the last twenty plus years than any other nationality. Some of those Mexican girls had by far the best personalities and attitudes of any women anywhere. Unfortunately, those women are a minority, and Mexican girls may very well as a whole have the worst attitudes in Latin America.

Worse for short flings and long term relationships. The thing is catching them in the middle, but who really wants that.
Colombianas are for short flings and they are good at that.

My bad [Image: blush.gif], my intel was a few years old indeed. Normally, it wouldn't matter, but, given the current economic and political (impeachment of Dilma?) on-going crisis, it seems that Brazil is changing, fast and for the worse.

But a few years ago, Porto Alegre was very safe, developed, charming, world-famous for its sunsets, universities, industries, football clubs, quality of food and life, and women. It seems all this is changing, fast!

Anyway, offthereservation, as we had great exchanges by email, I'm sending you today some quick info on a Brazilian resort, situated quite close to Porto Alegre, and which is still very safe, and golden, and worth a visit.

Porto Alegre has always had some crime issues, but it's gotten exponentially worse due to state budget not to mention economy. Also, I would say 2nd tier cities like Brasília, Belo Horizonte, and Curitiba (maybe Goiânia too) are much richer than Porto Alegre. They definitely show off their money more often in BH and CWB...and if ppl have money in POA, they're much more subtle about it.

What happened to me was I was dropped in front of my airbnb in Cidade Baixa (neighborhood). I asked the taxi to wait till I entered my apartment, but he was a lazy bastard (corrupt taxis there too). One strange guy walked by me asking for a "light" (Cigarette). I waved off no. As soon as I start opening my gate, he quickly turns around with a huge knife almost cleaver size. I quickly opened the gate and shut it on his ass while screaming afterwards. Street cleaner attended to me as well as building manager of apt.

As for Curitiba, I walked on a relatively busy commercial street with many cameras around as it's typically safe (Close to home and upscale nightlife). Keep in mind this is mid-January where theres still an exodus to the beach & 3AM however. While walking northbound home, a car driving south on a one way street decides to just park next to me for no reason. Guy gets out of passenger seat trying to ask me a quick question. As soon as he got out, I ran north screaming while catching attention of security, etc. Guy panics and gets back in passenger seat as car speeds off.

There's no good questions to ask at 3AM in morning on a semi-secluded street. I could definitely anticipate he was going to pull out a gun though.

Was a very scary earthquake, lasted for about a minute. So far 233 deaths counted, but it will go up, many people still under the rubble. The province of Manta was hit the hardest indeed.
