Star Wars: Rogue One comes out December

Let's point out one very depressing fact. There were no good movies for boys in past months and year.
Disneys hits have all female leads, both Star Wars have a female lead. The Lawrence Games, the other half-ass Hunger games (which name I dont even wanna know) have a female lead.
The Fembuster. AND they even needed to fuck up Deadpool with a fucking strapon scene.

There has been an awakening. Have you felt it?
Disney wants to come back to its core buisness model.
Making gouverment propaganda.

Regardless of the SJW/feminist angle stuff, I don't have high hopes for this.

The director (Gareth Edwards) hasn't produced very entertaining movies in the past.

Monsters (his indie "hit") was one of the most boring movies I have ever seen despite some real potential. How it got such rave reviews, I have no idea.

Godzilla if I recall, looked cool in the trailers but was very underwhelming as a viewing experience. It's been a while so I can't recall my exact thoughts but I just remember it being only OK and not really living up to the hype.

I think Rogue One is gonna be similar: boring and a bit underwhelming. I'm really surprised Disney handed off a Star Wars film to someone who is 2/2 in making boring and underwhelming movies. JJ Abrams made sense; he had Star Trek and other stuff under his belt. Rian Johnson (director of Episode 8) made sense; he did an awesome science fiction film called Looper.

But Edwards? Disney done fucked up I think and I wonder if this will be the first universally "disappointing" Star Wars movie released of the post-Lucas era. Like Phantom Menace boring/bad. I also wonder how if Trump is elected in November (meaning a majority rejection of political correctness essentially in the USA), how much of a negative impact that will have on the release in December. For all we know, it could be trendy and cool to publicly make fun of "women warriors" and shit. The Force Awakens already showed that a decent amount of the non-red pill community (if you look over the comments sections at various blue pill sites) was questioning how easily Rey became a badass and calling bullshit on it. I could see Rogue One being a symbolic rejection of political correctness if the movie is shit (by general public standards) and given the possible political environment at the time. People will cite how a potential good and entertaining movie got squeezed due to Disney's politically correct agenda.

Aside from that, I'm disappointed they went with this story given the many more interesting routes they could have gone (Dark Forces stuff, for example). I also hope Disney utilizes James Earl Jones and gets one solid Darth Vader movie out of him before he kicks the bucket. Supposedly, Darth Vader is gonna be in this Rogue One movie but to what degree is uncertain. Could be a 1 minute cameo or as a significant figure playing as a "stalking element" according to something I read. The latter idea has real potential if done right but I trust Edwards to fuck it up.

And its cool to see we got some Jedi Outcast fans here as well. Loved the saber dynamics in that game; especially during multiplayer matches. You can get that and Academy for a few bucks on Steam by the way. There are still active servers for those interested.

I think it was Godzilla that got Edwards this job. I'll admit I haven't seen it but I heard other people say it was good (which means little really). All he needs to do is make a decent popcorn flick. I'll wait for the movie to come out before passing judgement. Hell I would still see even if there was a transexual Jar Jar Binks in it.

The other standalone film which is rumored to be about a young Han Solo was originally going to be directed by Josh Trank (The Fantastic 4 reboot), thank God he left. Disney could redeem themselves. I bought stock in the company recently I will still win even if they destroy my favorite movie franchise.

Outcast was great. I have the PC disc somewhere. I remember I downloaded a ton of Maps, Mods and Skins for that game. Glad to hear people still play it. I am just bummed Lucas Arts isn't around anymore. That's what they get for hiring bad management.

No wonder 48% of Gen Z. only identify themselves as hetrosexual today... that figure will be down to 10% for the next generation in the west!

I've banned my kids from watching anything from Hollywood or any western TV!

Nah, remember Sheryl Sandburg is on the Disney Board of Directors.

Tongue in cheek tinfoil hat time:

1. Educate a generation of women to be miserable, scowling Feminists unable to bond with masculine men.

2. Give them unrealistic fantasy heroes to live up to that make their lives stressful, demanding and consistently-disappointing, (because women largely-despise making an effort at anything, and judge their happiness via fantasy expectations).

3. After the baby rabies "I need to have it all" Beta Marriage, IVF Baby and 'I'm not happy' divorce, she's right in the time frame where her mothering instincts naturally die off during menopause.

4. As a working woman, she will have little time for her children, and little patience to deal with them. What does she do with them? Throw expensive toys at then to stop them whining, and palms them off on the virtual baby sitter of movies, games and dvds.

5. Who makes the crap she'll throw at them to avoid having to spend time with them? The cycle continues.

I gave The Force Awakens the benefit of the doubt with the female lead. But now it's clear they're pushing feminist propaganda with the new movies. There's no good feminine role model for young girls. The new lead is basically a role written for a man but played by a woman. At least Rey displayed some nurturing instincts when she saved BB8 from that scavenger at the beginning of TFA. Fuck you very much Disney. You just lost a Star Wars fan.

If you guys thought Rey was bad, it doesn't look like this female lead is going to be any better. We're looking at Jennifer Lawrence Hunger Games-style feminism now as opposed to a girl who had some nurturing qualities but was still way too powerful.

I can't imagine growing up on these movies - when I was a boy I identified with Luke, if I had watched Feminist Awakens I would have forgotten about it the next day.

Star Wars: Rogue One comes out December

Disney announced several weeks of reshoots for Rogue One. They CLAIM that it's to inject some levity into the movie because it's tone was like a war movie but you don't need weeks of reshoots for a few jokes.

My guess is that the screenings are going horribly and the rejection of Femi-Ghostbusters has made Disney afraid of more girlpower fantasy.

Quote:Quote:

Star Wars stand-alone movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will undergo several weeks’ worth of additional shooting, sources have confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

Much of the cast and director Gareth Edwards will regroup in mid-June for another round of shooting. The move is happening after execs screened the film and felt it was tonally off with what a “classic” Star Wars movie should feel like. The pic has not yet been tested before audiences, but one source describes the cut as having the feel of a war movie.

The goal of the reshoots will be to lighten the mood, bring some levity into the story and restore a sense of fun to the adventure.

Rogue One focuses on the fabled mission hinted at in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, that of a group of rebels stealing the plans to the Death Star. The plans later end up in the hands of Princess Leia, who transfers them to R2-D2.

That's a shame - grrlpower aside, I would've liked to have seen a Star Wars movie told more like a war movie.

I'm not going to fanboy much about it, but the whole point of the Empire prior to A New Hope is that it was a a fucking bad place to be. Remember the opening scenes of A New Hope? You know, the part with the crew of a diplomatic vessel getting gunned down wholesale?

Star Wars: Rogue One comes out December

The rot goes deeper than first suspected. The following article is being quoted by "respectable" MSM sites.

http://www.latino-review.com/news/exclus...ign=buffer

Quote:Quote:

In the last few weeks, there's been a ton of chatter about ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY. The standalone film, which is being directed by Gareth Edwards (GODZILLA), has been said to be undergoing extensive reshoots. Depending on who you speak to, it's either run-of-the-mill tweaks and pick-ups, or a major overhaul of practically the entire film. The rumor stems from the idea that the suits over at LucasFilm/Disney saw a rough cut of the film and were none too pleased with the direction Edwards took things in.

Well, there's been a lot of spin in both directions. Entertainment Weekly even came out to try and help calm the anxiety fans have been feeling about the reshoots- which are said to be lengthy, costly, and involve a shifting of the film's tone and the development of its characters.

We reached out to a reliable source of ours, who works at the very Pinewood Studios stages where these reshoots are taking place, to see if they could separate facts from spin. Our source has been plenty reliable in the past, since they work at Pinewood- which is the epicenter of so many the industry's blockbusters. So they're right there in the thick of it.

"I've just asked my mate who has been doing work on Rogue One, and that rumour about them reshooting almost half of the movie is true, apparently."
To be clear, our source is stating that ROGUE ONE, which opens in six months, is currently undergoing a reshoot that covers nearly half of the movie.

This is not par for the course. This is not run of the mill. This is huge, and it means that LucasFilm wants some drastic changes.

If you'll recall, GODZILLA got an interesting reception. The film was lauded for its visuals, and for the fleeting moments when the anticipated monster mayhem took place, but was raked over the coals for the somewhat boring, flat depiction of its characters- which actually ate up the bulk of the film's running time. Could ROGUE ONE have turned out the same way? The whispers claim that the film's action sequences aren't being touched or tweaked, which leads one to believe that the issues with the ROGUE ONE mirror the issues from GODZILLA: Strong visuals, great action, solid look and feel, but characters and dramatic beats that don't exactly hit the right notes.

With so much riding on ROGUE ONE, which will be the first ever live-action cinematic expansion of the STAR WARS universe, coming off of the insane success of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, it makes sense that the studio would be worried about the characters. Let's face it, without endearing characters the STAR WARS films would fall flat like so many sci-fi sagas before and after A NEW HOPE came out in 1977. Even the Prequel Trilogy was plagued by the complaint that the characters were one-dimensional and that the drama was uninspiring and uninteresting. THE FORCE AWAKENS changed all that, and LucasFilm will be damned if ROGUE ONE brings us back there.

Which brings us back to the news at hand: ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY is, indeed, undergoing a massive reshoot meant to reshape nearly half of the movie.

Will it turn out like WORLD WAR Z, which surprised everyone when it came out of a tortured production and was actually good? Or will it be another FANTASTIC FOUR, which had this kind of on-the-spot extensive reworking, and came out an abominable turd?

We'll see when ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY comes out on December 16.

Caveat on the fact Latino Review is one of the more hysterical outlets out there. That aside, pulling extensive reshoots 6 months out from a film's release is like slamming the brakes on a semitrailer; it makes editing, postproduction and scoring the film one hell of a rush job since film releases are generally booked years ahead of time. Small reshoots you can do, but if they really are this extensive a lot of people are going to be working overtime to get this sucker out on December 16.

The World War Z comparison is interesting. Going by Wikipedia's account, World War Z's release date was pushed back. Originally slated for release in December 2012, they announced in June 2012 that the release was pushed back, and that was for seven weeks of reshoots, meant to cover roughly 30-40 minutes of time, basically the last third of the movie or so. It didn't come out until 6 months later, June 2013. And that was specifically because Paramount made a deliberate decision to make the film not suck before being released, as opposed to slapdashing it and putting it out in theatres on time. The guy brought in to fix the film up said it was unusual that they'd do that in Hollywood, the general practice is to throw the fucker up there, make the money on the opening weekend, and fuck off. If Rogue One is going in with the same level of changes, there is no way the film will be ready by December...not without looking like it's been stuck together with blu-tac.

I'll say it again, if they wanted a "strong" female lead, they should have gone with Ahsoka Tano. The closing scene should have been her death at the hands of Vader after completing the mission.

New trailer out today. Horrible acting from the female lead. Trying way to hard to be tough. You want a female lead? Fine, at least make her likable and charismatic.

Donnie Yen is in it which gives me some small hope. I would have loved this trailer had it not been for the horrible lead.

Hopefully, Melissa McCarthy appears as some relative to Jabba the Hut

Why would they be with her "all the way", what did that trailer show her doing to engender loyalty at all? She basically stood around saying one-liners in a sarcastic tone while men did all the fighting. Actions taken by the female lead: she limped toward a TIE fighter with a useless blaster in hand for a few seconds. The rest of the time she was just an observer.

Did the rebellion send her out to be a tease and gather beta warriors into her orbit or something?

I will say the visuals look amazing. I like this style much better than the cartoonish prequel trilogy.

See - it's like this: You can't force a square peg into a round hole. Women are a lot of things but they are not natural leaders in war. You can debate this fact until the cows come home but fact is that legions of men have followed strong male leaders into death without question or doubt. When I see a small 150lbs girl attempt to fill those shoes I just can't help but chuckle. And that's coming from a huge Alien fan - I loved Sigourney in that and she was dominant as fuck, probably as close as any woman (without steroids) can be. But even her - I wouldn't follow her into battle knowing I was getting clipped.

This guy however - fuck yeah - hand me a sword already!

There's that annoying siren sound, literally the most annoying sound ever.

Am I the only one who noticed she's trying so hard to be Han Solo ? Look at how she dresses, very similar to him with a trusty blaster in hand.

I agree, I like the idea but that chick...like hillary clinton jr. I am only going to enjoy the part where Darth kills her.

Its like the took han solo, made it into a chick, and then removed its wit and sense of humor. If they were trying to make a strong serious "lead woman" they should have just used Vasquez from Aliens

Star Wars: Rogue One comes out December

As I said back in April in my earlier post: The director has a bad record in making compelling movies (visually he's pretty good but character/story/pacing wise he's awful) and Disney made a huge mistake with going with him.

The extensive re-shoots no doubt were a result of Disney finally realizing they done fucked up and were gonna have a shit movie on their hands if they didn't do something.

The female lead reminds me of so many American/western women in a negative way:

1. Stuck-up
2. Unfriendly
3. Pretends to act hard
4. Has that dead stare in her face (usually these chicks are wearing big hipster glasses)
5. Expects people to take her seriously just because she exists
6. Has no humbling, endearing, or feminine qualities

No one takes super warrior women seriously to begin with but if you make them at least somewhat feminine in behavior, I think it's a lot easier for people to accept. Women who pretend to act like harden men though? Then it just falls apart.

That last shot of the trailer kind of rub me the wrong the way too:

Her: "Are you with me?"

Dude: "All the way."

*Then a shot of her with an odd insecure looking smile looking outward towards nobody; so proud of herself that she secured loyalty/resources without ever earning it. Real leader material there.* - If that wasn't the typical American/western chick in a nutshell, I don't know what is.

There is nothing in that trailer to show or hint what SHE has done to warrant why a group of people, especially warrior men, would follow her on a suicide mission except for that 2 seconds she told someone "they could make a difference."

What does she bring to the table? All I can tell is that she is a non-pleasant messenger and nothing more. She should get out of the men's way and let them do the mission.

I know. It could just be the way the trailer is cut but Disney still wanted to present the aforementioned image intentionally. So, the trailer doesn't get a pass.

We know how it ends anyway roughly: Everybody (or mostly everybody) dies. At least we know why now.
