Obama to nominate DC Judge from Chicago to Supreme Court

WASHINGTON (AP) — Congressional sources say President Barack Obama will nominate federal appeals court judge Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court.

Garland is the chief justice for the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, a court whose influence over federal policy and national security matters has made it a proving ground for potential Supreme Court justices.

He's considered a moderate center-leaning liberal, but the fuckin'guy is from Chicago. A quick glance over some of his key positions shows that he's against the current interpretation of the 2nd Amendment.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I can't see him confirmed any time in the near future, although I do believe it was the Obama's right as President to nominate a Judge of his choosing.

Small effeminate frail wavering extremely emotional voice, a classic Chicago Saul Alinsky Social Justice Warrior surrounded by strong women and who will guarantee a classic Chicago Beta male liberal Marxist Feminist SJW agenda. This is the kind of guy Clintons love and a guy who considers Bernie a model new leader for the 21st Century. A century where their agenda erases the 2nd amendment and removes the right to defend yourself in your own home as is the case in the Anglosphere especially the once Great but now effeminate SJW Islamo-Sharia Britain where men are imprisoned for shooting armed burglars inside their own homes.

This is the SCOTUS Judge that will fight for open borders, order a cease and desist order for the Mexican Wall and encourage George Soros open borders that will result in a USA Population of 550 Million people by 2050 with 250 Million illegals he will work to give a "path to Citizenship" from Latin America, Africa, Middle East and South and Far East Asia. Plus an additional 50 Million Islamist ISIS radical sympathizers rapefugees. This is a judge who will fight for the "human rights" of radical Islamists to practice their historical Sharia Law in recognition of their historic human rights in the name of cultural sensitivity and cultural enrichment.

Mitch Cuck McConnell and Paul Cuckomatic Ryan MUST NOT allow this nomination to be taken seriously and must treat it as the slick lame duck maneuver that it is. To load the SCOTUS with a lefist liberal majority who will approve Amnesty for War Crimes for Obama, GW Bush and Hitlery herself.

A total disaster in the making if this lame duck subversion of the USA is allowed to happen.

Mcconnell has already come out against him. They found an old video of Biden saying that the a SC pick should be delayed after the election. They will just delay this by using the "Biden Rule."

A soft, Chicago tied man nominated to supreme court while Obama is planning to run for UN Secretary General on the DL.

Nothing to see here.

I really wish a new system would be put in place.

One 4-year term as President = 1 Justice appointment.
New Justice has 18-year term limit or whatever the math is to make it so each so one Presidential term leads to 1 justice appointment.

This is the current tenure make-up of past and present Justices:

Justices who have relatively recently retired/died:

35 years
25 years
19 years
30 years
33 years

Some current Justices:
28 years
24 years
22 years
21 years

So 18 years would be a decent number I think while also taking out most of the anxiety and political gamesmanship involved in justice appointments. It would also push people out who might lose sharpness/mental capacity in old age like Rehnquist experienced if I recall correctly back in the early 2000's. It would also keep the Supreme Court relatively in-line with the will of the people and the times.

It really terrifies me that one President could (with senate confirmation) theoretically replace the entire court in one term in the event all justices died or were killed. We would be stuck with one administration's judicial judgement for 20-30 years. Imagine a President Hillary Clinton with a democrat majority senate and something like that happening. Good God.

As for Obama: He already got his 2 justices so he should fuck off with trying to go for a third real hard; especially as an unpopular President that is going to be voted out in 8 months. The Supreme court will survive with 8 justices until January.

Dear Deepdiver,

President Obama thinks he can propose a new nominee to the Supreme Court and force through in his last few months in office. But let’s face it. This is a a HUGE conflict of interest.

Maybe the biggest of his presidency.

Many of the president’s own executive actions on immigration, climate change, and Obamacare, are under review by the Supreme Court right now.

He has every motivation to nominate a sympathetic judge. But just because the president gets to nominate, doesn't mean the Senate must confirm.

And let me tell you, I am not simply going to let him have his way without a heck of a fight. I’m going to do everything I can to make sure the Senate does what is necessary to uphold the Constitution.

President Obama thinks he should have the power to create immigration law out nothing.

He thinks he has the power to basically cripple entire industries like coal without ever having been given that power by Congress.

It’s a complete Constitutional debate on whose powers it is to legislate right now.

Is it the president or Congress?

Obama's entire philosophy of law is up for debate and it will be decided where? At the Supreme Court.

And we know EXACTLY how he will want his nominee to rule. It's easy to see why he's so eager to fill the seat before Americans have their say in November.

The president needs a sympathetic character. He needs a nominee who supports the notion that the executive branch should be more powerful than the legislative -- that the president is the ultimate authority and that Congress, the voice of the people, doesn’t matter at all.

I will not let this happen.

I’m not going to take it lying down and let the president have his way.

Will you stand with me as I do everything I can to block President Obama’s attempt to silence the opinion of the American public?

Rand Paul

Maybe you could have been nominated yourself Rand, if you didn't join the Obama-esque crowd by denouncing Trump.

I think Rand Paul is trying to pay off campaign debts.

That conflict of interest comment is pretty pathetic. All politics is a fucking conflict of interest.

This is Obama's third potential placement on the highest judicial body in America. There is now only one justice who was not appointed by either a Bush or a Clinton, or Obama. Barry's already pushing hard to come for those guns, even citing violence by Islamic terrorists against Americans in Southern California as a justifiable reason to disarm Americans. Talking about it with crocodile tears in his eyes like it is the only morally righteous course of action. The hard line establishment has a deadlock on what the Constitution actually meant to say for the next, potentially, 15 years but likely more; prove me wrong Clarence Thomas, but even then that's only two. It has already been astutely pointed out by Deepdiver what's on the chopping block during the next few years and it's never looked more like the people would roll over for it. I'm pretty young though so my perspective is quite limited.

Tin foil hats on everyone.

I know he's still president, but does anyone actually listen to that guy any more? He's spent the last 8 years taking a sustained, voluminous dump on America. I assume everybody just smiles and nods at him now, the complete embarrassment that he is, and then goes back to pretending he isn't there.

Sadly, yes. Due to the soviet-like media propaganda and cult following, Obama is still quite a popular figure. He even has a 51% approval rating despite his numerous fuckups and baggage.

Some people I know actually like Obama and take things like his Nobel peace prize seriously.

Generally the argument is that he has done "what he could with what he had". More or less people like him because they didn't like Bush's wars and the rest of the neocons. They want to oppose that, and to them Obama represents the polar opposite.

In other words, these people should be our allies.

They should pack the damn court with 50 justices and with term limits. The founding fathers gone and fucked up with the judicial branch. They thought very highly of judges and had no clue subversion would seep in from the old world.

The only people I know who like Obama are black. It's like they have no choice. I just don't talk politics with my black friends, if we're just having a good time or whatever I'm not looking to argue. If they bring it up I change the subject, I'm not going to claim to agree about democrat greatness.

(I know perfectly well there are blacks on our side politically, including a number on the forum, but the ones in my circle I just agree to disagree and dead the topic.)

Apparently his approval rating still SOMEHOW hovers around 50%.

I can see the mainstream black point of view on this as well even if I feel it's incorrect. The democrats have historically shifted some of that establishment power over to black politicians and some earlier civil rights issues. However what most mainstream blacks and latinos haven't recognized is that we are no longer living in the times prior to and up to the 1960's. The race narrative and historical grievances that keep getting dredged up with regards to slavery, jim crow, etc.. is used to keep a minority in forced victim status. The old power dynamic is no longer relevant.

Establishment liberals and the SJW ilk enact and reinforce social policies that actually go against the best interests of minorities in the long run.

This pandering to identity politics, not addressing the moral and social decay in minority communities is detrimental to the long term health of the communities they claim to be helping. Milo has addressed this before and he's 100% right about this.

Notice how liberals seem to despise asians and exclude asians in the social and political narrative as much as possible? There's a reason for that. Anything that naturally goes against populist liberal mainstream race narratives must be ignored or even squashed.

I am surprised that no one has mentioned this:
