I rented an apartment in granada for about 6 weeks in March . Area is quiet and safe and you get an element of respect by telling people you live there straight of the bat in my experience
If you are staying longer than 2 weeks I think that's your best option. If you need the owners details let me know -I would be happy to help.

I will only go for 7 days, so I think I will take a hotel there. But thanks for the help [Image: smile.gif] What about nightlife any good clubs there?

The Colombia Master Thread

No problem mate. I understand if you're only going to be there for a week then an apartment isnt necessary .
With regard to nightlife I would say menga is a good bet. Try Lola's and favela . Also El penon has some nice places it's a bit more upscale and the girls I saw there were from the upper class
I love cali and am heading back there I the next few weeks. A local guy has organised a penthouse rental for me and a friend for a year. Place is very near granada with great views and own pool jacuzzi and steam room.

If you act accordingly there then the people are very welcoming and the city has a lot to offer.
I wasn't in Cali nearly as long as some other members on the forum but my advice on going out and trying to meet people would be to dress as well as possible- nice clothes mean a lot there.

But dont you become a target for the "criminals" quite easy if you are dressed so well?
Reply

It all depends in where you are. I wouldn't recommend heading to juanchito wearing a custom suit and gold chains but if your going to places like menga and El penon then you really should be dressing well to increase your chances. I found people give me a lot more attention when I wore nicer clothes.

Went to Tonik last night in Bogota with people from work. I would recommend it, good ratios, no gringos, the girls were pretty good. It starts out with everyone at tables, but around 12:00 everyone is dancing with one another.

Has anyone flown same or next day on a plane? I may bounce between Cali and Bogotá, but if I don't have to plan in advance that would be nice. I guess if I do airbnb that could become a problem. . . .

If you want to go last minute you could always take a night bus. If you are like me you won't be able to sleep but I think the majority of people have no problem getting a few hours sleep in.

I haven't gone same day, but I bought a ticket a day or two out to go to Bogota from Medellin for a few days, and it was still super cheap. I think like $70 USD round trip or something. I do remember thinking about going to Cali from Medellin last minute for a few days last month and it was ~$100 round trip. There's pretty good competition between carriers in Colombia and lots of these flights between Bogota and Medellin/Cali/the coast so it's pretty viable, but obviously a little planning in advance should give you better prices if you can do it.

Went to Gringo Tuesday's last night in Bogota. I arrived at 8:00 by myself for the language exchange, and by then it was already packed with nowhere to sit. At that point it was probably 60/40 male to female ratio, and no more than 10 girls who were a 6 or 7. I ended up finding a group of Colombian girls without seats and talked to them. One girl was cute, I ended up hanging out with her for the night, just got the make out though. As the night went on the ratio worsened, I left at 1:30, by then it was 85/15. There were a few more 6's and 7's walking around. On a positive note, I have never seen so many people hooking up in a Colombian nightclub in my life. If you are going to go, I would recommend going either around 7:00 or earlier to see if you can find a group of girls to speak too, or to go right around 9:00 when the music starts, the number of cute girls seemed to increase the most at this point. Overall I had a good time, but I can see how this place is a hit or miss.

Good writeup on GT's. Hit or miss is definitely what I'd call it. Overall, I don't understand the hate for the place. Maybe i'm too much of a glass half full guy.

It's a Tuesday night and elsewhere there is next to nothing going on. Yeah the ratio's get bad, but a lot of losers just stand around like fucking tools. The chances for a one night stand are higher than normal and it's definitely a fun time for guys who love night game like me. It's also a good option for guys who have very poor Spanish, as a lot of girls have some English to work with.

You can go early, but a lot of those girls don't stay much past the language exchange. A lot gringo groupies and more DTF chicas come in after for the disco.

Also, a warning to y'all players. This crazy chica from THC's story was spotted at GT's last week. A reminder to be careful who you pull from there [Image: Strip.gif]

I've trashed GT, but like you guys have said, for the guy in Bogota for a short time and who insists on going to a club on a Tuesday there aren't many options

Since I'm awesome and Colombia is awesome, I'm going to get married with a prenuptial and an open relationship with a cool girl [Image: smile.gif].

Or maybe not, I'm starting to have doubts about how shit will develop in the future + everybody telling me that I'm crazy etc.

The majority of guys on here don't trust Colombianas, they say Mexicans or Brazilians are better marriage material.

If you plan on living long term in Colombia why even wife one up? Unless you eventually want to "go home" and import her in the future

Only for the Visa, I don't want to work for an empanada nor spend 2 hours everyday on spanish.
But to be honest I'm starting to have some doubts like what if I get fucked somehow with the prenupcial.

I think it would be hard for a gringo to get divorce raped. If you didn't own a place together and you kept the majority of your money in your own foreign bank account how could she ever get her paws on your dough.

When I talked to a lawyer he strongly advised against the marriage visa, said he knew a few people who got fcked up.

The student visa isn't a bad one to consider if you don't mind waking up early. I think it's tough to get on a program that doesn't start at around 9am.

Honestly, don't hold me to this, but I think as long as you are there less than 9 months a year it isn't a big deal. One year I was there 8 months without a visa and I even went to the immigration office trying to pay a fine, and they just let me go saying I didn't need to do anything. Maybe it was because I was constantly coming in and out on two different passports but in general, they are very unorganized.

But, I have heard from a lot of people the same thing, less than 9 months a year and you are good, you might just have to pay some small fines.

I have never been to Brazil and have spent a little time in Mexico, but I think this is surely the case. Colombianas can be very pretty but more so than their Brazilian and Mexican counterparts, they can be shady and untrustworthy. Also in general, they are too emotional, bipolar, it's just not worth it. They have diva, princess complexes. They want you to be like their little obedient dogs they all have.
It's tough because they can be so hot, good in bed, I still miss dat ass...
But I would never look for a wife in Colombia. The odds are against you.

As a long time lurker, I have always wanted to write a summary of my trip, so here goes. I have been in Bogota for 10 days. I speak fluent Spanish, am blonde and 35. Here is a summary..
Arrived Friday: Had been speaking to a girl on Colombian Cupid for a week. We met up at a coffee place and had dinner at a place near Parque 93. We then went dancing at some place she recommended. After a hour I told her it was too crowded and took her to my Airbnb apt and had sex.
Saturday: Went solo to Airbnb and met a paisa at La Villa. We danced a while and then took her to my place. The next day was great until she started to ask me for money for her hotel and clothing. I immediately kicked her out of my apt. She was at least hot though.
Tuesday: Went to gringo Tuesday's and had a good time. Met a girl I took out the next Friday. If you go, either go early or when the music starts.
Wednesday: Met a girl from Tinder. We went to eat Peruvian food and then went to Armando Records at Click Clak hotel. Just got the make out, but she was nice. Spoke no English.
Thursday: went to Zona Rosa again. Met a girl from Cartagena and ended up with a bj at the end of the night. There wasn't much going on though, I think Chapinero is a better selection for Thursday.
Friday: went out with the Gringo Tuesday
Girl. Ate sushi at the JW Mariott, which was really good and not too expensive. The girls there were hot too. Ended up at some Irish bar and then went back to my place. 0 lmr..
Saturday: Wanted to try Solo. Went to a few places in Zona Rosa, no luck. Then went to Baum, which is good if you like electronica, which I don't. Left and asked the taxi driver to take me to a late night club, fucker took me too a strip club where I got ripped off.

My overall thoughts of Bogota: I have been to Medellín, Cali, and Cartagena, definitely the easiest place to get laid. I have had the most fun in Cali and Cartagena though. Overall though, 3 girls and 1 bj isn't too bad for a week in Bogota. Good luck to everyone else!!

Bogota police have been busy this past week. Those not familiar with the city may not know there is an area near centro known as the "Bronx". It is a barrio full of the lowest bottom dwellers in the city....homeless, mentally-ill, drug users, prostitutes....a complete lawless cesspit!

Last weekend Penalosa the new mayor of Bogota sent in over 2000 specially trained police to clear the "Bronx" of all these undesirables. My Colombian friends told me many young people were going to this area for cheap drugs and would go missing for days/weeks at a time.

During the raid they found tunnel's used to transport drugs and hold kidnap victims, child prostitutes, and along with scores of drugs and weapons.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/ap/arti...pital.html

During the raid they also found a dutch tourist that was apparently on a "drug tour" of the city. From what I gather this idiot spent a week getting fucked up on drugs and eventually ran out of money. He was kidnapped by his drug suppliers and possibly held for ransom... somehow he escaped and ran to the roof and alerted police. Below is the video of him running from his capturers....and his rescue by Bogota police......if this episode doesn't scare this fuck up straight, nothing will.

As a side note....My local friends and myself included are hoping this makes more mainstream media....hopefully this can scare off the influx of gringo/whoremonger/drug users to Bogota.....more than likely it will just increase the numbers of those still flocking to Medellin!

^Damn, I thought I went on some bad benders in Bogota, that guy was fucked! The Bronx is indeed a major shit hole but at least the riff raff stayed there, now they'll be all over the place. I'd be exta cautious walking around places like la Candelaria and Chapinero with all of those basuco heads floating around.

Exactly....already many business owners in Plaza de Espana are getting the influx of vagrants fucking up there business.....I have noticed more zombie crack heads floating around the north of Bogota.....

Problem is if you rattle the rats nest....the rats just scurry off to another spot.....curious if the Bogota police will bring back the social cleansing tactics used in the late 90's early 2000's used with the Cartuchos in the area that is now Tercer Milino park.....

For those not familiar with this insane part of Bogota "Mad Max" street history.....Colin Post wrote a great article called Kingdom of Thieves....unreal times not that long ago!!!

You'd think the city would rather have the problem more contained than spread the crackheads out all over the city

I think I walked around that area briefly with another gringo but after every person either sized us up and or looked at us like we were crazy we definitely tried to get out of there fast
